Blood Awakening: The Strongest Hybrid and His Vampire Bride

Chapter 688: All-Out Attack?! - II

A black wall of flesh shot down the hallway, each step shattering the floor with a slight crater. He bounced off the wall, darting several metres with each stride.

The zombies quickly raised their guns.

”Kill it!”

Swooosh!

Nikolai tore through the air.

His thick, ten-inch-long claws sliced through their flesh like a hot knife through butter.

Two zombies dropped to the ground with a single swipe.

He pushed off the wall, lunging at the third with his mouth wide open. His sharp fangs tore through his jugular as multiple gunshots echoed—a few bullets lanced through Nikolai’s chest.

Nikolai stumbled back, his face stained with green blood.

Streams of black blood oozed from the holes.

”W-What the hell is this thing!?” One of the zombies staggered back, while the leader smashed her in the face with his elbow.

”Shoot you, fool!”

”Grrrr!”

Nikolai growled at the zombies remaining to his side, stepping closer and preparing to jump at them, slowly pushing more obsidian tide into his muscles.

His body darted from left to right, leaping from wall to wall, avoiding their gunshots as he spread both arms out in mid-air.

”Die!”

However, the leader drew a shotgun from his waist, then placed it at Nikolai’s chest.

Da-Gan!

The sawed-off shotgun fired six slug shells directly into his chest.

BANG!

He flung across the room, the shot destroying all of his momentum, and he flew several metres back, and tore apart the entire surface of his chest. The point-blank shot ripped his flesh, muscle and bone apart, revealing his ribcage.

A dirty stream of black and silver blood oozed from the wound as he lay on the floor, trying to push himself up.

”Ugh... fuck....!”

’I fucked up... they’ve placed a mutant amongst the zombies...’

The Moonlight Alliance gave the codename zombie to the lowest level of Necromancy subjects, although they could retain their normal life. Their movements and mental states dropped drastically compared to those of a living warrior.

Mutants were a level higher.

They retained all their power, knowledge and abilities while being boosted by the bizarre reconstruction surgery.

”Hurry, grab his body and drag him back to the van. It’s your only chance to get the evolution surgery!” The Mutant held his dangerous shotgun, slowly refilling the four slots, before snapping it shut. ”Fucking mutt, dare to lunge at us without a brai—?!”

Deng!

His head exploded.

It resembled a watermelon falling from a house.

Flesh, grey matter, and skull fragments flew in every direction before his body shook and collapsed into a lump of useless flesh.

The zombies all stood frozen.

A pair of footsteps echoed from the hallway, as slow, well-timed shots continued to ring out from the dark.

Deng!

A zombie dropped.

Deng!

Another fell.

From the darkness, Nikita stood holding Nikolai’s Desert Eagle tightly in both hands, her fingers loose around the trigger as she scanned the area.

Her ears flickered.

”No more... they’re all outside.”

Before quickly snapping her head to Nikolai, who sat against the half-destroyed wall, his chest heaving.

”Fuck, what were you thinking?” She scolded him in R-Dialect, squatting beside him, as she took a small syringe from a medical pack fastened to her thigh. ”What is cool about rushing in like a moron, hah?!”

Despite scolding him, she gently grabbed his arm and squeezed above his elbow.

The moment his veins became more visible, she stabbed the long needle into his flesh and squished it.

”Come on, stop playing dead.”

Pah!

She slapped his cheek.

”Ugh, haha... I didn’t expect there to be one smart enough to react.” He admitted his mistake as he felt a surge of heat in his left arm. When the slugs hit him, his regeneration and energy vanished, leaving him completely stunned and vulnerable.

”Yeah, whatever... tonight I am on top!” Nikita snorted, but dabbed his healing chest delicately with alcohol wipes and medicinal tonic. ”You’re lucky we managed to develop this while you were gone.” She complained.

The silver bullets were a dangerous threat to their existence, so Sasha and Anastasia used Nikolai’s special blood to create this tincture that could delay and soothe the effects.

”We’re still not safe.” She folded the dirty, bloodstained cloths while looking him in the eyes.

He admired her pretty face.

The slight smudge of her makeup, the beads of sweat trickling from her brows and her faint breath with a hint of lemon and lamb sauce.

”I was wrong.”

He closed his eyes, letting his obsidian tide flow towards his ears, as the world turned black and white, his sense of location became like a sonar, able to detect the movements of people in the buildings around them.

Several resembled normal humans, but he noticed the subtle difference between zombies, humans and the more skilled mutants who masked their presence as normal humans in the building opposite them.

”We’re in danger.” He sighed.

”There are considerably more of them than I expected.”

Nikita’s eyes widened in his view.

She shook slightly before taking his hand and squeezing it tightly.

”What are you talking about? How can there be too many?!”

Though her encouragement brought a sense of warmth, he couldn’t fight that many; it was another realisation that he should’ve thought about more honestly. A single large fist cannot defeat a thousand smaller fists.

Maybe if they came one by one, but if all fists attacked at once.

Well. . .

He couldn’t put Nikita in that danger.

”Nikita... we need to reach your bike, and pray they didn’t tamper with it.”

”Nikolai?”

She didn’t seem to understand just how perilous their situation was. Maybe it was because throughout her life, hundreds of Fenrir warriors had her back. But now it was just them, two people against a hundred.

”Phew, I’m okay now.”

The constant stabbing ache in his chest dulled enough for him to stand up.

He placed a hand against the wall while hugging Nikita with the other. He focused his senses on the place she parked her bike—it would be a few seconds at most to dash there, but they needed a distraction.

’Thankfully, they’ve not moved to this area yet.’

Nikolai hesitated before asking. ”How long can you maintain your clone, and use it to fight?”

He stared into her eyes, a throb of pain beating within his chest, knowing that, unlike him, his wives would take a portion of the damage their clones took.

”I... I can fight for about an hour, then it’ll vanish. But if the damage is too much, it will automatically deactivate.”

”I see, then... we will do this.” He tapped the wall and began to articulate the number of enemies they faced. Their rough location and the plan to send their clones in the opposite direction to cause a loud ruckus as they rushed for her bike.

”It’s too dangerous, there’s no way they haven’t made any blockades!” She hissed back.

He closed his eyes, trying to stem the thrumming of his heart.

”Please, this is all we have.”

She squatted down, covering her head and cursing all the words under the sun.

A few minutes passed, with Nikolai constantly watching their surroundings. It seemed the group outside was hesitant to enter, but knew something had gone wrong.

”Okay.” Nikita dragged one of the guns from a corpse.

The next moment, her body shimmered, and an identical Nikita appeared beside her; the difference was that her clothes were pristine without blood or dirt.

Her clone quickly took action.

She grabbed another gun before handing the shotgun and machine gun to Nikolai.

”Let’s get prepared, the clones will take machine guns, and head towards the bank across the street, firing and killing whatever they can.” Nikita brushed her hair back, tying the wavy lob into a small side ponytail.

”Mhm.”

Nikolai took the guns, using the belt and shoulder strap the Mutant used, slowly fastening and preparing himself. They stole all the magazines and shells from the corpses, storing most in their item rings.

”Baby, I love you.” Both her clone and she confessed their feelings.

”Mm, I love you too, Nikita.”

Even though their date went to shit, both of their eyes shone bright.

For a werewolf, combat was an excitement.

A tall, black wolf slipped free from Nikolai, along with another version of himself, the two clones quickly taking weapons and glancing back at Nikolai before they stood beside Nikita’s clone and headed towards the front entrance.

”We’ll take the back.”

”Mhm~ you sure do like entering the back door.” She joked.

He sighed before glancing back at her.

”Nikita... once we’re home, I’ll do whatever you want.”

”You cannot go back on your word!” She hummed.

When the clones reached the front entrance, they shifted through the kitchen, finding dozens of dead humans, shot before they even realised what happened.

Once they reached the back door, both of them took a deep breath as the distant pop of gunshots began to reverberate.

”It’s started!”

”Hurry!”

At full sprint, they would reach her bike in seven seconds.

The two kicked open the rear staff door of the kitchen, which led to the VIP parking lot, and made a break for it.

Like she was reborn as a panther, Nikita darted through the parking lot, before jumping onto her bike, taking the key from between her tits as she snapped it into the hole, and kicked the pedal.

”Come on!”

”Shit!”

The moment Nikolai slipped on behind her, a group of zombies just happened to pass the entrance and notice the roar of her bike’s engine.

”Gun them down, Nikolai!”

Her bike shot from the parking space, as Nikolai held the machine gun just above her, standing on the metal pedals. He gripped the bike tightly with his muscular thighs, keeping his body glued to it.

Ra-Ta-Ta-Ta-Ta-Ta!

He mowed down the zombies.

His machine gun singing as Nikita’s bike rushed out of the parking lot.
