Blood Awakening: The Strongest Hybrid and His Vampire Bride

Chapter 660: The Strength of Nosferatu

Another undead turned to dust the moment Nikolai ripped it apart using his spear before turning to another with beads of sweat glistening from his brows. The extreme heat from continuous battles took its toll, even for Nikolai.

He skimmed the battlefield, avoiding the stray blows and attacks to check on Sarah and the surrounding situation.

’Something isn’t right...’

For the past few minutes, he felt the desperate attacks of the undead shift.

They suddenly became more measured, and the bone saints hung in the back, flinging their weapons or bone shards from a distance, while the weaker undead rushed at him to their deaths, holding him in place.

”Tsk, annoying corpses!”

Thud!

He kicked them away, the energy surging from his body in a waste of force.

”Haa...” While able to fight much longer, he’d used a little too much power at the start, ensuring that the thralls, Sarah and maids were safer.

”Ngh, a few seconds is all I need to recover.”

However, the undead didn’t want to let him do that, they rushed at him with bone spears, thrusting at his thighs, stomach and chest.

Woosh!

He jumped back, avoiding them, only to face a volley of sharp bone spikes shot from the bone saints in the back row.

Fwoom!

Dozens of the sharp eight-inch spikes flung at him. He lifted his arm, blocking most of them, as the sharp bone penetrated his arm.

A painful sting spread instantly from the wound as his flesh began throbbing.

’This is poison?’

His left arm pulsed with a dull ache as the wounds sizzled with bubbles from the green liquid coating the bones. He felt a sense of lethargy, ”Shit!” Immediately, his eyes became sharper; the bastards used the same chemical from the silver bullets. Normally, this would cause his bloodlines to enter a state of dormancy.

Thankfully, because of his stage and power, it failed to manifest fully and only caused a painful numbing sensation in his left arm.

’Come and protect me.’

He called out in his mind, summoning his two clones.

Although they wouldn’t last much longer, their existence would allow him to turn the tide.

Sarah’s dagger hooked the throat of a bone saint as she flipped in the air, kicking the handle to shatter the bones connecting its skull to the spine.

Thud!

The bone saint collapsed, before turning to dust, as she caught the falling dagger without looking.

”Phew... this is really nice...” She glanced at Nikolai in the distance. He stood holding his gun, blowing the heads of other undead apart, while his two clones raged as wild beasts locked in battle around him. ”As always, he’s really hot...”

She couldn’t remember when her heart fully set itself on Nikolai.

A blade sliced past her cheek, almost taking her head off as she jumped back and held up her daggers. Memories of Nikolai coming to tease her at work replayed in her mind, scenes of him sleeping on her sofa... and teasing her with a kiss.

’I trained the thralls and made them so faithful to you for a selfish reason...’

She lunged at the pale zombie, its movements more crisp than the others. Her blade sliced across its throat with a beautiful silver arc. But the corpse used its forearm bones to block the blade, creating a spark of silver.

”Tsk!”

”...”

Deep in the sockets of the zombie’s eyes, a dark blue flame flickered.

”What? Are you trying to brag?!” Sarah shouted, tilting her blades, as she lowered her hips, carefully creeping closer to the target.

The zombie didn’t respond with words, but its eye flame billowed.

Her heart pounded faster when facing this monster, the surface of her skin tingled, and a sense of dread weighed down her stomach. She knew that their strength was close, at the very best, she was a little stronger, but in the worst case...

She might lose.

With the flick of her right hand, she sheathed her blade, hopping back two steps, as she rolled her revolver free, focusing her mind to the limit.

A sharp prick impaled the back of her brain each time she used her power, stopping her from using it constantly.

Normally, she would also stand still.

Woosh!

Alas, the blade which sliced past her eye just now proved that wasn’t a possibility right now.

She cut across her face, blocking the blade with her left hand, while tucking her right arm underneath the zombie’s and pointing her revolver at its face.

”Die!”

Bang! Bang!

With a quick double shot, her body slipped free from the zombie’s range, the bullets lancing through its face, tearing the pale flesh wrapping its jaw apart.

”Tsk, shallow...” Sarah clicked her tongue as she shifted to the side, circling her opponent to avoid being caught out again.

However, as she took several steps, another pale zombie appeared out of nowhere and lunged at her with both hands holding massive broad swords.

”What the hell are these things...?!”

Clang!

Deflecting one blade with her dagger, but when another arm appeared from behind its back, chopping down, it forced her to slide back, breathing heavily.

Alas, her question was answered.

”A Djinn zombie?! How... when did Nosferatu make these?!”

A sense of shock jolted through her spine as she discarded the notion of fighting in close combat. She sheathed her dagger and drew a second revolver. There was no chance of victory against an undead with six arms.

With her eyes shimmering with a multicoloured light, she targeted both pale zombies with her revolvers while biting her lips.

’Nikolai, something isn’t right...’

Meanwhile, atop the distant building, the rooftop lay in devastation. It appeared as if a huge monster had raged around destroying everything but the ground itself.

The situation was the worst.

Brunhilde knelt with blood dripping down her cheeks and right arm, where the maid outfit and bodysuit tore and held her spear tightly, refusing to back down.

”Capitan!”

”Captain, let us help!”

The maids on the other building’s roof shouted desperately to her as they struggled to fight off the undead on their side.

But she flipped them off.

”Bitches, you know what I am like! Fuck, come over here, and I’ll kill you myself!”

She forced herself to stand, facing the two pale zombies with eerie expressions, one wielding two long daggers, the other a huge sword. But the issue lay elsewhere; if it were just this, Brunhilde could easily defeat them.

”Peh! The hell you lookin’ at?” She spoke with a crude R-Dialect as she spread her legs, filling them with the remnants of her blood arts.

Unlike the other maids, she carried a decent amount of the Fenrir bloodline, which allowed her to use their blood art, albeit with limited range and effect. But in return, her blood boiled as if scalding water was poured directly into her veins.

Tap!

Her foot hit the broken concrete before she launched herself into the air, her spear twirling before pointing downward to the leading zombie.

”Die!”

The zombie glanced up at her, with faded blue eyes made of fire.

She descended blade-first, using the gravity to boost her speed and penetration force, a sharp wind blowing up her skirt as she wrapped both legs around the spear, placing her feet on the blade’s wings.

VWOOM!

Like a comet, she descended.

Her spear impaled the zombie’s face, chest and body, tearing it in two.

Meanwhile, the second zombie ignored the death, swinging its massive sword with a low hum, as it used its second pair of hands to grab a rock and hurl it at Brunhilde.

”Shit!”

Her spear refused to move, locked in place by the cheap concrete.

Clang!

Out of sheer luck, the sword hit the shaft of her spear, sending her flying back from the sheer force of its blow. She rolled across the ground, lifting herself in a beast-like pose on all fours, before a rock smashed her face, sending her to the ground.

Dazed and confused, she tried to stand, blood pouring from the wound. She lifted her head, which swayed to the side, her vision seeing multiple zombies raising a huge sword above their heads.

”Damn... my luck ran out.” She spat bitterly, arms trembling as she tried to move.

The rock seemed to have affected her nervous system and balance, rattling her brain from the immense power.

She raised her upper body, glaring at the zombie about to end her life.

Her eyes took in the monster’s movements, how its exposed muscles moved, the way it proudly held its sword high and gloated at her.

The Zombie swung its heavy blade.

”Eh?”

Brunhilde’s eyes widened as she watched a beautiful arc of silver, followed by a woman of pure white flashing across her vision.

”I was almost too late...” Lunaria half knelt, wearing a full white kimono without dirt or blemish, wielding a long, pristine eastern sword in her hands.

When she looked back, the maid’s heart fluttered.

”Are you alright, Brunhilde?”

”A-Ah... Yesh Big Sis!” In her moment of shame, the maid bit her tongue.

”Good, because it’s far from over...” Lunaria raised her sword, facing the corner of the rooftop, where a large pale zombie with six arms climbed up and stood a few metres away from them.

This scene felt like a joke to Brunhilde, who barely defeated one of them alone.

So she screamed into the night.

”I hate zombies!”
