Gravity Mage with Level-Up System

Yellow River Academy:

Gilbert stood in the middle of the dimly lit courtyard, his sharp gaze sweeping over the group of young wizards who had surrounded him. The tension in the air was palpable, a crackling energy fueled by both fear and curiosity. His voice, calm yet commanding, cut through the silence like a blade.

“You guys should leave before I report this to the dean,” Gilbert said, his words dripping with a confidence that silenced the whispers around him.

The effect was immediate. The wizards froze, their smug grins wiped off as they exchanged uneasy glances. They had expected defiance, perhaps even a fight, but the mention of the dean brought with it a weight they hadn’t anticipated.

The Dean of Yellow River Academy was not someone to be trifled with—stories of his swift and merciless punishments had become legends in the academy halls. The academy had once crushed an entire wizarding family for crossing the line, and that memory was still fresh in everyone’s mind.

Seeing their stunned expressions, a sly smile tugged at the corner of Gilbert’s mouth. He knew he had them now. His warning had struck the perfect nerve.

“I know why you’re stopping me,” he continued, his voice low but laced with amusement. He took a step forward, his eyes narrowing. “But do you really think nobody’s watching?”

The gathered wizards blinked, their surprise evident. Gilbert’s words were like a cold wind sweeping through the courtyard, chilling them to the bone.

They had been so caught up in the thrill of cornering him that they had forgotten the academy was always watching, always listening. The Yellow River Academy’s magical wards were notorious for tracking every move, especially when students were close to crossing the line.

A ripple of unease passed through the group. The academy’s recent crackdown on troublemakers was still fresh in their minds. They weren’t ready to risk expulsion—or worse. One by one, they began to lower their wands, stepping back into the shadows as the weight of Gilbert’s words sank in.

Realizing the gravity of the situation, the leader of the group, a Level-7 wizard with a furrowed brow, muttered under his breath, “He’s right. If someone is watching, we’re done for.”

Another student, his voice filled with resignation, added, “It’s not worth it. We don’t need more heat on our Hall right now. The Academy’s been cracking down hard lately.”

The others nodded, their expressions mirroring a mix of disappointment and reluctance. Just a few months ago, their hall had been involved in a scandal, and the repercussions had been swift. The thought of putting themselves or their Hall at risk for some fleeting entertainment now seemed foolish.

Gilbert, sensing the shift in their demeanor, allowed himself a small, satisfied smile. With a final glance at the subdued crowd, he turned on his heel. In an instant, his figure shimmered, then vanished from sight, leaving nothing but the faint scent of burnt ozone in his wake.

Your next chapter awaits on empire

For a moment, the courtyard was eerily silent. Then, as if waking from a dream, the students began to murmur amongst themselves.

“We missed a good show,” the Level-7 wizard said bitterly, his voice laced with regret. “It could have been interesting…”

Another student sighed, shaking his head. “Better this way. The last thing we need is the Dean or the council breathing down our necks. We’ve been laying low for a reason.”

The others muttered in agreement. The halls of Yellow River Academy had been keeping a low profile lately, avoiding trouble after a series of recent incidents had put them under the academy’s scrutiny. No one wanted to give the administration a reason to bring down their wrath again. They had all seen what happened to those who defied the academy’s rules.

As the group slowly dispersed, the courtyard returned to its quiet, almost eerie stillness, the tension dissolving into the cool night air. The wizards had narrowly escaped a confrontation that could have spelled disaster, but a lingering sense of regret remained. In their hearts, they knew they had been robbed of the drama they so eagerly sought.

Yet, in the end, caution had won over curiosity. And at Yellow River Academy, survival was all that mattered.

….

As Gilbert approached the dormitory, the scene before him stopped him in his tracks. A dense throng of wizard students packed the courtyard in front of the men’s dorm building. The usual chatter and laughter that filled the air during idle gatherings were conspicuously absent, replaced by hushed whispers and tense exchanges.

His eyes scanned the crowd, noting that it wasn’t just the male students gathered here—there were plenty of female wizard students as well. The sight of so many students from both halls mingling together at this hour sent a shiver of unease through him. Something was definitely off. It wasn’t normal for such a diverse group to be this focused on a single event.

He swept his gaze across the sea of faces, searching for something familiar. His eyes landed on a figure standing on the outskirts of the crowd, her auburn hair catching the fading sunlight.

Carolina, his junior sister, stood calmly among the students, her arms folded across her chest, watching the unfolding situation with quiet intensity. Her composed expression gave Gilbert some comfort; at least she wasn’t caught up in whatever was brewing here.

Still, the uneasiness in his chest grew. Something about this gathering felt unnatural, as if a storm was about to break loose at any moment. His attention shifted to the dorm building itself, where the source of the commotion seemed to be.

At the entrance, standing like an immovable sentinel, was Mike Curtis. His tall frame and authoritative presence marked him as the focal point of the students’ attention. Gilbert could see Mike was engaged in an animated discussion with a group of dorm students. Whatever they were talking about, it had the crowd on edge. The tension in the air was so thick it was almost tangible.

A sense of dread washed over Gilbert. Mike Curtis wasn’t someone who got involved unless something serious was at stake. Gilbert’s mind raced to connect the dots. As much as he tried to focus on the situation in front of him, his thoughts kept drifting to one person: Vincent Carey.

“So many things are happening outside. What is he doing?” Gilbert wondered, an edge of frustration creeping into his thoughts. Vincent’s absence was glaring, especially considering the growing turmoil around the academy. If Vincent was involved in whatever was happening here, the situation could spiral out of control quickly.
