Gravity Mage with Level-Up System

Dean Tower

A few days later, inside the towering dean’s office, the atmosphere was as heavy as ever. The dean sat behind his broad mahogany desk, reviewing the daily reports, a routine that had taken on grave importance in recent weeks.

The reports were no longer just bureaucratic updates but critical insights into the nation’s rapidly deteriorating situation. Every line was a reflection of their country’s spiraling descent into chaos.

But beneath the surface of these official matters, the dean had been preoccupied with a far more pressing concern: finding a way for Vincent Carey to leave the country safely.

Since receiving the cryptic warning from the messenger, an ever-growing sense of urgency gnawed at him. Time was running out, and Vincent’s safety was not something he could leave to chance.

The dean knew all too well that the Mage Union, with its vast network of informants, was likely aware of the turmoil within their borders. And if they were aware, they likely saw little hope in the situation.

Their indifference was palpable. The thought left the dean feeling powerless, as if he were trying to hold back a tide with nothing but his bare hands. If things continued to worsen, Vincent would have to flee, and soon.

That’s why, for days now, the dean had been searching for a safe passage—an escape route that would allow Vincent to leave the country unscathed. He had full confidence in Vincent’s abilities.

The young mage was resourceful, skilled, and more than capable of surviving harsh conditions. As long as Vincent was equipped with the right life-saving items, he believed he could make it to the Ancient Redwood Country, where safety awaited.

His thoughts were interrupted by a sharp notification, a reminder that someone was requesting entry into his office. He glanced at the visitor’s identity.

“Galvin Martin,” the dean muttered to himself, his eyes narrowing thoughtfully. It had been some time since Galvin had last visited the tower. The man had been on assignment, away from the capital’s chaos, but his timing couldn’t have been better.

Perhaps Galvin was the key to securing Vincent’s escape. He was resourceful, and if anyone could figure out the safest route out of the country, it would be him.

“I may need to give him a new mission—something far more important than his current task,” the dean thought, the gears in his mind turning rapidly.

“Let him in,” the dean said, his voice firm and decisive.

Swoosh!

The door opened smoothly, and Galvin Martin stepped inside. His figure cut a sharp silhouette against the dim light of the hallway. It had indeed been a while since he had last stood in this room, the weight of his previous missions still evident in his stance.

“Galvin, it’s good to see you,” the dean greeted him, his tone betraying none of the storm of thoughts swirling in his head.

“Dean, I’ll have the mission report for you soon,” Galvin replied, his tone formal. He had returned primarily to notify the dean of his arrival, but the full details of his latest mission would take time to compile.

The dean shook his head, brushing off Galvin’s mention of the report. There were more urgent matters at hand.

“No need for that right now, Galvin,” the dean said, his voice softening slightly but still laced with urgency. “There’s something else I need you to focus on—a task far more critical.”

“There is something you need to know first,” the old dean said, his voice heavy with a mixture of reluctance and inevitability. His gaze rested on Galvin for a moment, as though gauging the right time to deliver the news. After a brief pause, he continued, his voice steady but with an undertone of seriousness.

“The Mage Union has made a decision. They’ve chosen Vincent Carey as an exchange student. He will live and study at the True Elements Society in Ancient Redwood Country.”

Galvin’s expression remained calm at first, listening with his usual composed demeanor. But as the dean’s words began to sink in, a shift occurred. Disbelief flickered across Galvin’s face, his eyes widening slightly. Of all the possibilities he had anticipated, this was not one of them. The Mage Union had selected Vincent Carey?

It wasn’t just any opportunity; being chosen as a Wizard Seed by the Mage Union was akin to being marked for greatness. It was a dream pursued by countless young mages across the world. Even those from large, powerful nations, with vast resources and magical legacies, longed for such recognition. And now, this incredible fortune had fallen upon Vincent.

Galvin’s mind raced as he processed the revelation. He should have felt elated. This was the kind of success story every mentor or guide wished for their hall member. But instead of pride, a strange sadness tugged at him.

He had always believed that Vincent Carey was special, a true talent who could one day elevate their struggling Sub-Taboo Hall to new heights. Vincent had potential unlike anyone they’d seen in years—perhaps even greater than Gilbert Reese and others, who had chosen to distance himself from the academy, refusing to return despite his immense skills.

For so long, the Sub-Taboo Hall had been without a leader, without a prodigy to carry its banner into the future. Galvin had hoped—no, he had been certain—that Vincent would be the one to bring glory to the hall. But now, with the Mage Union’s offer, it seemed those hopes would be left unfulfilled.

“Sigh”

Galvin let out a long, deep sigh. He couldn’t deny the weight of the opportunity presented to Vincent. The Mage Union’s offer was a chance that no young wizard, especially one with Vincent’s talents, could ever refuse. It was destiny calling, and no one had the right to stand in its way.

“Maybe… this is just the fate of our hall,” Galvin thought to himself, a bitter smile creeping onto his face. The Sub-Taboo Hall had always struggled to find its footing. Their search for talented wizard seeds had been fraught with disappointment, and it seemed that even now, the cycle would continue. Vincent Carey’s path was diverging, and Galvin had no power to change it.
