Chapter 2641: Chapter 2641: Really Like The Children

”Oh... I have been sponsoring this orphanage.” Yu Qi stated calmly.

”I see... Where is it?” Grandpa Mu asked curiously.

”It is in this town. So, did you notice the black mansion when we were going to the greenhouse yesterday?” Yu Qi asked.

”Don’t tell me that is the orphanage?” Grandpa Mu looked at Yu Qi in utter disbelief.

”Hmm... Yes. It is indeed the orphanage.” Yu Qi nodded.

”I thought it was a ghost mansion.” Grandpa Mu stated honestly.

”Well... that is actually my mansion.” Yu Qi said as she looked away slightly, appearing a little sheepish.

”What? Your mansion?” Grandpa Mu was once again taken by surprise.

”Yeah. After building it, I moved to FINN City, so the mansion was left empty for quite some time. Then, the Harmony Orphanage’s old building was taken over by some people, and they lost their place. I offered them the mansion and even intended to change the colour. However, Director Chang told me that the kids liked the mansion exactly as it was. They felt like they were living in a ’ghost mansion.’ Only the inside is colourful.” Yu Qi explained in detail.

Yu Qi stopped by the market to buy a few things for the orphanage. Only after that did they head toward the orphanage. When they arrived at the site, they could see the children playing around the large mansion.

Grandpa Mu finally noticed that the mansion was not as gloomy as he had seen from afar. The yard was filled with colourful decorations, bright ribbons fluttering gently in the wind, handmade ornaments hanging from tree branches, and chalk drawings scattered across the ground. All of it created a striking contrast to the mansion’s dark and imposing exterior. What once seemed cold and lifeless now felt unexpectedly lively, as if warmth had been carefully woven into every corner.

The children stopped playing when they saw a car pull up in front of their home. For a brief moment, they hesitated, their curious eyes fixed on the unfamiliar vehicle. Then, the moment Yu Qi stepped out, their hesitation vanished.

”It’s Sister Yu Qi! She has come to visit us!” A child shouted excitedly, his voice brimming with joy.

In an instant, the children rushed forward like a small tide, surrounding Yu Qi completely.

”Sister Yu Qi... We are so happy that you are coming to visit us.”

”Yeah... It has been a long time since we last met you.”

Their voices overlapped, each one eager, each one sincere.

Yu Qi patted the children’s heads affectionately, her movements gentle and natural.

”Sister has been busy with her work. Have you all been behaving?” Yu Qi asked the children gently.

”We did!” The children answered in unison, their voices loud and proud.

”Where is Grandpa Chang?” Yu Qi asked.

”Grandpa Chang is working in the garden.” One of the children answered.

”By the way, Sister Yu Qi, who is this grandpa?” Another child asked curiously.

The children turned their curious gazes toward Grandpa Mu. Their eyes were bright and unguarded, filled with innocent curiosity.

”Oh... He is my grandfather.” Yu Qi introduced Grandpa Mu to the children.

”Oh... Sister Yu Qi, you have a grandfather now? That’s amazing!” One of the children exclaimed.

”Hmm...” Yu Qi responded with a soft smile.

”Hello, everyone. I am your Sister Yu Qi’s grandpa... You can call me Grandpa Mu.” Grandpa Mu said as he squatted down to talk to the children at their level.

The children quickly gathered around him, their small figures pressing closer without hesitation. They asked him a multitude of questions. Simple, random, and sometimes even silly, but every single one was filled with life.

Grandpa Mu answered each question patiently, showing no sign of impatience. His voice was unusually gentle. As he looked at their eager faces, something in his chest tightened.

He liked children. He had always liked them. But his own grandchildren... they had long since grown up. Their lives had become busy, distant, filled with things that no longer included him. Conversations had become shorter, visits rarer, and the warmth he once took for granted had quietly faded away over time.

Yet here, these children, who were not related to him in any way, welcomed him so naturally, as if he truly belonged. Their small hands tugged at his sleeves. Their laughter rang clearly in his ears.

For a fleeting moment, it felt as though the empty space in his heart had been gently filled. A faint smile appeared on Grandpa Mu’s face, but there was a trace of bitterness hidden deep within his eyes.

”Miss Yu Qi?” A voice called Yu Qi’s name.

Yu Qi turned and saw Shi Yuan. Shi Yuan was the daughter-in-law of Chang Yu Qian, the director of the orphanage.

”Hmm... Long time no see. I come to visit.” Yu Qi said.

”Father will definitely be happy to see you. Come inside.” Shi Yuan said warmly.

”Hmm... Grandpa, let’s go in first.” Yu Qi said, turning to Grandpa Mu.

Only then did Shi Yuan notice that there was an elderly gentleman being surrounded by the children.

”I will go and call Father first. He is watering the crops behind the mansion.” Shi Yuan said.

”Oh... Before you go, come and take this. I bought it from the market earlier.” Yu Qi said.

Shi Yuan looked at the items that Yu Qi brought. It was lavish seafood. Lobster, crab, squid, abalone, and almost every kind of seafood you could think of. For a moment, she was slightly stunned by the generosity.

”You can indulge the children from time to time.” Yu Qi added.

”Yes. Thank you, Miss Yu Qi.” Shi Yuan nodded gratefully, her expression softening.
