Chapter 2638: Chapter 2638: Meeting A Fan

”Enjoy.” Sheng Tan Hua said warmly.

”Thank you, Boss.” Yu Qi replied with a nod.

She picked up her spoon, scooped a generous portion of the fried rice, and took a bite.

”Hmm... the taste has not changed a bit.” Yu Qi commented happily. She then looked at Grandpa Mu. ”Grandfather, you should try it too.”

Grandpa Mu followed suit. After just one mouthful, his eyes lit up with genuine appreciation. It was truly delicious. It was a simple dish, just fried rice, but the depth of flavour was exceptional. Seeing Grandpa Mu’s delighted reaction, Yu Qi knew he felt exactly the same way she did.

Once they finished their dinner, they paid the bill and stepped back out into the cool evening air. Yu Qi immediately called Pei Xian to check if Grandpa Tang was still lingering at the greenhouse. She was worried that the old man would simply refuse to leave his plants.

As it turned out, Yu Qi’s intuition was spot on. Grandpa Tang was indeed still at the greenhouse. Even after being asked to head back, he showed no signs of wanting to leave. Yu Qi sighed and told Pei Xian that she would head over there herself to fetch the stubborn old man.

When Yu Qi arrived at the greenhouse and stepped inside, Grandpa Tang took one look at her and knew his time there was up. He wouldn’t be able to stay a minute longer.

”Grandpa...” Yu Qi called out to him.

”Alright... Alright... Let’s go...” Grandpa Tang muttered, dutifully following Yu Qi out.

Once Grandpa Tang was settled in the car, he looked at the other two.

”Where did both of you go?” He asked.

”Oh... We walked around the town, seeing the places where Yu Qi grew up.” Grandpa Mu explained.

”Oh...” Grandpa Tang responded. He paused for a thoughtful moment before continuing softly. ”She struggled a lot growing up in this town.”

”Yeah... I finally understand the extent of that now.” Grandpa Mu said with a heavy tone.

Sensing that the atmosphere might turn somber, Yu Qi decided to steer the conversation elsewhere.

”Okay... Grandpas... We have arrived.” Yu Qi turned her attention to Grandpa Tang. ”I will have someone prepare dinner for you. Please make sure to eat it.”

”Okay... Okay...” Grandpa Tang sighed, finally giving up on resisting his granddaughter’s care.

”I am going to hop into a hot spring myself.” Yu Qi added.

As Yu Qi was about to walk into the ryokan, someone called her name, their voice loud and clear.

”Miss Tang Yu Qi.”

Yu Qi turned around to see a young girl who appeared to be about four or five years younger than her.

”Yes?” Yu Qi asked. She then turned back to Grandpa Tang and Grandpa Mu. ”You two can head inside first. Grandpa, please eat your dinner before you slip into the hot spring.”

”Yes... Yes...” Grandpa Tang replied.

With that, Grandpa Tang and Grandpa Mu walked in, leaving Yu Qi behind.

”I am sorry, but what do you need from me?” Yu Qi asked, turning her full attention back to the girl.

”Can I get your signature?” The girl asked with wide-eyed anticipation.

”Huh?” Yu Qi was momentarily confused.

A middle-aged woman stepped forward and stood beside the girl.

”Gu Niang... You cannot just ask her like that. You should introduce yourself first.” The middle-aged woman gently scolded.

”Oh!” The girl turned back to Yu Qi. ”Miss Tang... I am a fan of yours. I am also your junior... from your high school. My name is Ji Gu Niang. I am taking the Gaokao this year, and I was hoping for your signature to keep as a lucky charm.”

”I see. Well, I cannot give you my official signature. However, I can write a motivational quote for you instead.” Yu Qi offered.

Her signature was used to sign legal contracts, and she knew better than to sign it haphazardly. Someone could easily take advantage of such a situation and misuse her name.

Ji Gu Niang looked at her mother for approval. Her mother thought for a moment before nodding in agreement. She immediately opened a notebook and handed it to Yu Qi along with a pen.

When Yu Qi uncapped the pen, her eyes flickered for a split second. However, she maintained her composure and acted perfectly normal, writing a motivational quote in the book. After she finished, she handed the items back to Ji Gu Niang.

Ji Gu Niang looked at the notebook and beamed with happiness as she read the words.

”Thank you, Miss Tang!” Ji Gu Niang said with a polite nod.

”Good luck on your exams.” Yu Qi said.

”Yes! I will make sure to be the top scorer!” Ji Gu Niang nodded happily.

Seeing the girl’s genuine reaction, Yu Qi guessed that whatever was happening had nothing to do with Ji Gu Niang herself. If there was a scheme, it had to involve the mother.

”So, Miss Tang, are you staying at this hotel as well?” Ji Gu Niang’s mother, Sang Yuling, asked.

”Yes. I am accompanying my elders so they can get some rest.” Yu Qi stated simply.

”Oh... I see. We also came to enjoy the hot springs. My daughter has been studying so hard, so I wanted her to get some relaxation before she goes back to her books.” Sang Yuling explained.

”That is very thoughtful of you. Some mothers usually push their children to study without a single day off.” Yu Qi commented.

”Hahaha... I love my daughter very much. Honestly, I don’t care how well she does on the exam. As long as she is healthy and grows up well, I will be happy.” Sang Yuling said.
