Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 588: Chapter 588: Yuan Hui’s Bitter Regrets

Yuan Yuxun had just pushed a cart full of sheep manure out when the village cadre stopped him: ”Comrade Elder Yuan, oh my, Comrade Elder Yuan, quickly put it down, these comrades are here to take you back to Beijing.”

The village cadre who earlier couldn’t bear to face him now smiled like a blooming flower, it was truly embarrassing to watch.

The comrade who got off the vehicle quickly walked up to Yuan Yuxun and said: ”Elder Yuan, I am Fang Rusheng, delegated by the higher authorities to bring you back to Beijing to resume your position.”

Yuan Yuxun wasn’t too surprised, after all Yunyi had already told him that the notification should come soon, advising him to be ready to return to Beijing at any time.

Being elderly, whether or not he returns to Beijing doesn’t matter much, but his grandson is still young and can’t stay here forever, so he didn’t refuse, yet it wasn’t apparent that he was very happy.

He patted the dust off himself and spoke calmly: ”When do we leave for Beijing?”

Fang Rusheng didn’t show any change on his face, yet replied: ”We will set off immediately.”

Yuan Yuxun waved his hand and said: ”I have some things to deal with here, it won’t be that fast.”

Fang Rusheng became anxious: ”Elder Yuan, is there anything here that you...”

Before he could finish his sentence, he saw Yuan Yuxun’s face grow cold: ”Since you’re here to escort me back to resume my position, it shows that the authorities have re-assessed my situation. Do I not even have this little bit of freedom?”

Fang Rusheng hurriedly explained: ”Elder Yuan, don’t misunderstand, it’s my own eagerness, I just thought of quickly escorting you back to Beijing.”

Yuan Yuxun looked at him puzzled, waiting for him to continue.

Fang Rusheng felt a bit embarrassed and said: ”Elder Yuan, here’s the thing, I grabbed the chance to escort you because my nephew fell off a roof two days ago while playing with classmates, and his condition isn’t very good.

After learning about your return to Beijing, I applied immediately, hoping to bring you back to Beijing swiftly. Elder Yuan, please understand my urgency to help my nephew, don’t hold it against me.”

Seeing he didn’t seem to be lying, Yuan Yuxun said: ”Then let me pack, we can make a detour to Hua’an Farm Reclamation and then head to Beijing.”

Fang Rusheng, relieved, felt a bit excited and said: ”Okay, okay, okay.”

Yuan Yuxun turned and went inside, hugging his grandson hiding in the house: ”Zining, we can return to Beijing. What your master aunt said has come true, we can finally leave here.”

When he spoke, his voice trembled. Although he was mentally prepared long ago, truly facing it was an indescribable mix of emotions.

Yuan Zining wasn’t as emotional, instead feeling a little lost: ”Grandpa, what about master aunt? We’re going back to Beijing, what will happen to her?”

Yuan Yuxun took a while to gather himself, gently patting his grandson’s head. ”If it weren’t for us, your master aunt would have left long ago; with her skills, she can go anywhere she wants. Don’t worry, we’ll wait for her in Beijing.”

The grandparent and grandson muttered to each other a while longer before parting to gather the items to take with them.

After a simple wash, he put on the new clothes that Yunyi had made for him, leaving everything except what Yunyi had given untouched.

After coming out, Fang Rusheng and the driver gratefully stepped forward to take their luggage and placed it in the car.

Yuan Yuxun politely bid farewell to the village cadre with his grandson before getting in the car and heading directly to Hua’an Farm Reclamation behind the mountain.

Watching the car disappear in a cloud of dust, Nanbai Village’s cadre felt deep regret, who would’ve thought the Yuan family, grandfather and grandson, would have a day they could return. Had they known, they would have definitely fostered a good relationship.

But now, it was too late to say anything.
