Devouring Evolution: I Reborn as an Arctic Wolf

Chapter 175: Chapter 144: Wolf Pack Sets Out, Ranking of Exotic Beasts._2

….

At this moment, while Su Lin was leading the Wolf Pack to expand northward, the world was already beset by turmoil!

Countless peaks of human technology surged forth from human fortresses or cities spared by natural disasters.

They engaged in peak showdowns with the Variant Species detected in various regions.

Since many of the latest high-tech armed forces required the internet and satellites, these were being hurriedly repaired amidst widespread outages caused by the disasters.

Currently, excluding some sparsely populated areas, the signals in most human-inhabited regions have been completely restored.

Power and heating facilities have also been reorganized, and cities reduced to ruins are now vigorously being rebuilt.

Given the current situation, although humanity sometimes faces defeat at the hands of powerful Variant Species, they have still achieved glorious battle results.

Some weaker Variant Species have been torn apart or captured by human technological weapons!

Even more have been caught and served up for the enjoyment of influential figures at the pinnacle of power.

After all, Variant Species flesh is too rare, constituting the most precious and expensive resource worldwide.

In many places, the black market price has soared to the point where every gram of Variant Species flesh could be exchanged for eight thousand US dollars!

This price has driven people to madness!

With the onset of the disasters, as order collapsed in many places, more and more locations began to accept only US dollars.

Therefore, the purchasing power of the US dollar remains strong in contemporary society.

This price has also driven many New Humans to hunt Variant Species even more diligently.

A number of privately-formed New Human Squadrons have appeared, and all factions view these squads with resistance.

Because squads composed of New Humans are too powerful and can affect their dominance over their respective territories.

But ultimately, they’ve not been restricted.

This has led to various New Human Squadrons, whether civilian or military, beginning to emerge everywhere.

Of course, facing the threat of humanity, more intelligent Variant Species have also begun to form alliances.

Species that previously lived alone, such as the Bear Clan, Tiger Clan, and Lynx, have now begun living in groups.

Different species and various factions clash fiercely in this era of great upheaval.

In the meantime, based on months of monitoring and real combat achievements, humanity has compiled a list of the danger rankings for Exotic Beasts.

This list covers all powerful Variant Species currently known and has caused a stir all around the world.

Not only have major forces offered huge rewards for the flesh of these powerful Variant Species, but the Science Alliance has also requested strong New Human Squadrons to collect the genes of these Variant Species for research.

…

Once this list was published, it sparked fierce discussions and astonishment.

Now that communications have just been restored, the internet is mostly used for military purposes, so there hasn’t been any fierce debate online.

Still, many people privately expressed their doubts about this list.

Among them was Colonel Rodney who had once led an expedition to hunt the Invincible Fierce Tiger in Southern Siberia. Looking at the list, he slammed his hand on the table and cursed, “That Invincible Fierce Tiger didn’t even make the top twenty? How is that possible? Half of my soldiers died or were injured, and we still couldn’t capture it, and then it broke through again! It broke through again! It’s a monster, a monster!”

Several adjutants beside the enraged Rodney could only remain silent, saying nothing.

Although they had all witnessed the overwhelming ferocity of that Invincible Fierce Tiger, they didn’t doubt the authority of the list.

After all, the bloody records of the listed Variant Species’ prowess spoke for themselves.

This was a list of Variant Species spanning the entire world!

Any that made it onto the list were without exception the monsters among monsters!

Many of these Variant Species would have had the fortune of extraordinary encounters!

As for the whereabouts of that Invincible Fierce Tiger after breaking through and escaping the siege, they remained unknown.

It had briefly been detected by satellites, seeming to have headed towards Northern Siberia.

It was unknown if it was meeting with the local Tiger Clan, or following some Variant Species into the Arctic.

The northernmost territory of Siberia had already entered the bounds of the Arctic Circle, affected by the terrifying cold currents,

and to this day there hasn’t been a single signal, with no forces daring to set foot there.

Thus, the final whereabouts of the Invincible Fierce Tiger were uncertain.

Apart from Rodney, many others were discussing the Exotic Beast rankings.

“What’s going on? How can an eight-meter American Jaguar occupy the sixth rank?”

“Do you understand the speed of sound? What’s the concept of over three hundred meters per second? And is eight meters small?”

“It shows that the combat power of exotic beasts might not be determined by size alone!”

“Exactly, the Golden Eagle is only fifteen meters, but isn’t it also dominating? Is it the Terrifying Bay Crocodile that dares to bare its teeth at it, or the West Africa Lion Group dares? Just grab them and throw them from tens of thousands of meters in the air, they’d be dead or crippled!”

“Are you sure the Golden Eagle can grab the seventy-meter-long Bay Crocodile?”

“The one above clearly hasn’t seen the combat power of the Golden Eagle. That bloody aerial battle has already proved everything, go check the estimates of the Golden Eagle’s stats by the various forces yourself!”

…

While this Exotic Beast List was causing a great stir,

Su Lin’s Wolf Pack was heading towards the frigid North.

Regarding the various formidable Variant Species on the list, Su Lin was naturally unaware.

But he had great confidence in his own combat abilities.

For now, he almost had no equal in the Arctic!

Even those Variant Species catalyzed by pure energy in the Mysterious Iceberg could be hunted down in a short amount of time!

However, he had never underestimated a Variant Species.

As the chosen son of a new era following the great changes in heaven and earth!

There sure to be some extremely monstrous or incredibly fortuitous Variant Species that had achieved rapid improvement.

But the stronger the Variant Species, the more Su Lin was driven to hunt them, after all, the stronger the species, the better they were as fuel on his path of evolution.

At this time, Su Lin was slowly leading his Wolf Pack out of his territory, beginning to set foot into this frigid northern land.
