Devouring Evolution: I Reborn as an Arctic Wolf

Chapter 162: Chapter 138: Smoke of Gunpowder, Wolf Pack United.

Not only were the mutated species across Siberia fiercely colliding and bleeding with human technology,

mutated species around the world were considered a significant threat to humanity.

Apart from some red danger zones with no signal, there were smoke and flames of war everywhere.

And in a recently reclaimed city in the northern territories of Russia,

a tall and beautiful woman looked at the almost ruined city, her expression filled with dejection.

This woman was none other than a biology research student, Tiffany.

Now, her pretty face no longer carried its once lively and cheerful appearance.

The terrifying cold wave disaster had dealt too heavy a blow to humanity.

Nevertheless, Tiffany still held hope for a brighter future, and was walking with her family toward their home district.

She hoped that the buildings in the district would not have turned into ruins.

At least her family would still have a place to live,

but just as they had walked a short distance, suddenly a tremendous roaring sound came from the sky.

They looked up to see several armed helicopters hovering above them.

These days, people had seen too much of these steel beasts and no longer felt the excitement and thrill of peaceful times.

Their eyes were all numb.

Many people just glanced once, then left with their families.

Most people were thinking about how to rebuild their homes and how to survive in the future, with no interest to waste time watching these helicopters.

But Tiffany’s family couldn’t leave.

Because those armed helicopters had come to a stop right in front of them.

Soon, a team emerged from the helicopters, a squad of humans with an average height of two and a half meters, armed to the teeth.

As this squad slowly approached Tiffany, she felt a strong sense of oppression wash over her.

New Humans!

This term popped into Tiffany’s mind suddenly.

Only a Special Combat Team composed of New Humans could radiate such formidable pressure.

Especially the exaggerated personal combat weapons in their hands, further proving this point.

Because only the sturdy New Humans could hold such terrifying weapons with such ease.

They were dressed in the most advanced nano-level protective suits, specifically designed to combat behemoths and exotic trees.

They could effectively withstand great impacts and rebound forces, and their helmets were fitted with night vision, analyzers, and other high-tech goggles.

Essentially, they were walking war fortresses built with money.

The leader of the New Humans looked at Tiffany and said in a deep voice, “Hello, Miss Tiffany, I’m Bob, the captain of the Special Combat Team. We’re tasked with exploring the Arctic. We’ve heard you’ve conducted field detections on various species in the Arctic, and would like to invite you to join our exploration,

Besides you, there will be several other biological experts, so please rest assured, should any danger arise, our Special Combat Team will definitely protect your safety with our lives.”

Bob spoke quite ordinarily, but his low voice still carried immense intimidation for ordinary humans.

Tiffany’s family initially wanted to refuse,

but looking at the fully armed and intimidating Special Combat Team, they suddenly did not dare to speak up.

After all, they knew this was the age after the disaster, not a time of peace.

If they genuinely offended the authorities, the consequences and costs might well be unbearable for their family.

This left them with no choice but to turn their gaze to Tiffany.

And after taking a deep breath and thinking for a while, Tiffany nodded and said, “Alright, but my family has nowhere to live, so I’d like to ask for your help in securing my family’s housing and living situation.”

The captain of the Special Combat Team, Bob, nodded and agreed, “Okay, I will make the arrangements and someone will take care of it.”

Tiffany then asked one last question, “When do we leave?”

“About a month from now, we’ll notify you then.”

Hearing this timeline, Tiffany felt relieved.

It meant that she had at least a month to spend with her family, which satisfied her.

As for the Arctic exploration, Tiffany thought it would be extremely dangerous.

Because the terrifying cold wave that swept over most cities in Siberia had started from the Arctic, so how terrifying must the species that survived in the harsh Arctic be?

Although the species in the Arctic were scarce and perhaps there were fewer mutant creatures,

if there were any, they would probably not be comparable to those on the Siberia Plains, right?

After all, more than half a year ago, when she went to the Arctic to film, she had encountered a mysterious Hunter tearing apart a grizzly bear under the polar night.

Now, it was even harder to say how many terrifying beings there might be.

But since the officials had approached her, she had no choice but to go.

At this moment, Tiffany suddenly remembered the extraordinarily handsome White Wolf she had encountered about a year ago.

She wondered if that White Wolf was still alive?

In the face of the great changes and the terrifying cold waves, even a powerful White Wolf, capable of hunting large prey alone, might not find it so simple to survive, right?

At this time, Tiffany was being registered with her personal information by the Special Combat Team, and her mind wandered to these thoughts.

…

Meanwhile, the harsh Arctic was beginning its cycle of day and night.

Time is often the most merciless, not waiting for anything or anyone, not even for a half-second.

In a flash, several days had passed.

Even if the outside world was in turmoil, the Arctic remained as calm as ever.

With no signals, the Arctic became a forbidden zone that humans dared not step into.

Although Su Lin did not know, if he did, he would have agreed with humanity’s cautious approach.

After all, even if it was not about himself, just the extraordinary strength within that mysterious iceberg at the pole,

would likely lead to humanity’s utter defeat with corpses strewn everywhere and blood forming rivers, despite its endless peak technology swarming forth.

Because the extraordinary strength in that mysterious iceberg cannot be reasoned with by common principles.

In the past few days, Su Lin had been living a stable life.

He rewarded the Little Lone Wolf with an Ice Mountain Lotus Petal, allowing the Little Lone Wolf to officially break through to level 12, and its injuries fully recovered as well.

The Ice Mountain Lotus was from the mysterious Ice Palace, a level twenty-something exotic flower.

The pure energy contained within it was far superior to several Black Fruit Rock Gao Lans.

Not only did the Little Lone Wolf break through to level 12,

but its strength also grew by leaps and bounds during this period, already reaching the mid-stage of level 12.

It was estimated that after digesting the pure energy of the Ice Mountain Lotus, it could reach the peak of level 12, or level 13.

Whether it was the Variant Species or Su Lin, the amount of pure energy needed for further advancement was exponentially higher.

Therefore, even though the Ice Mountain Lotus Petal contained vast amounts of pure energy, it could not enable the Little Lone Wolf to ascend several levels like a few Black Fruit Rock Gao Lans could.

During this time, Su Lin had also fully unified this territory.

The range of the Wolf Pack’s territory expanded to an astounding size, reaching the rare scale of 15,000 square kilometers, almost no wolf pack territory could match such an astonishing extent.

If the domains under the ice were included, it would be even larger.

The size of the Wolf Clan under Su Lin’s command had also reached an impressive number of more than three hundred fifty.

He promoted the Little Lone Wolf to become another Lead Wolf after the Wolf Father!

In response to this appointment, there was no resistance from the entire Wolf Pack, who all howled cheerfully for the Little Lone Wolf’s promotion to the position of Lead Wolf.

As for Cousin, Xiao Hui, and Xiao Bai, they had made quite a few accomplishments during these days of conquest outside.

However, these achievements paled in comparison to those of the Little Lone Wolf.

Xiao Bai successfully advanced to level 6 after these days of bloody battles!

A level 6 Variant Species Polar Bear, it now had a stature of one meter seventy-eight and began to display the ferocious aura characteristic of a Polar Bear.

Su Lin did not forcibly promote Xiao Hui and Cousin to Lead Wolf, deciding to let them stay in the position of Beta Wolf for a little longer.

However, the accomplishments of Xiao Bai in these days were not small.

Xiao Bai not only collaborated with the Wolf Pack in several battles but also persuaded fifteen members of the Bear Clan to join.

Including seven Polar Bears and eight Grizzly Bears. Although there was not a single Variant Species, the addition of these bears significantly enhanced the power of the Wolf Pack.

Due to communication difficulties, Su Lin temporarily put Xiao Bai in charge over the Bear Clan, a position equivalent to a Beta Wolf in the Wolf Pack.

These members of the Bear Clan would usually stay in their own territories, only to be summoned when the Wolf Pack needed them.

Besides, Su Lin allocated five pounds of Variant Species Flesh to each member of the Wolf Clan.

A regular wolf of the Wolf Clan would feel quite full after consuming one pound of Variant Species Flesh per day.

So, five pounds was not a meager amount.

Three hundred wolves were given fifteen hundred pounds of Variant Species Flesh, with Su Lin hoping that some new Variant Species would emerge among this batch of wolves given such a significant investment.

As for the fifteen members of the Bear Clan, Su Lin also allocated twenty pounds of Variant Species Flesh and one hundred pounds of regular meat to each.

If there was the potential for evolution into a Variant Species, then the energy provided by this meat quality would be sufficient.

Even if not, the energy from this Variant Species Flesh could also significantly enhance the strength of these wolves and bears.

After this batch of wolves finished digesting the Variant Species Flesh, Su Lin planned to select a group of elites from them, forming an invincible Wolf Pack that could sweep away all obstacles.

For now, Su Lin’s rewards for the Wolf Pack were limited to food.

Besides Xiao Bai, no true Beta Wolves had yet been promoted.

This left many in the Wolf Clan expectantly waiting,

hoping to be noticed by the Wolf King.

But in the Wolf Pack, strength was always paramount.

Without sufficient power, one couldn’t secure the position of a Beta Wolf.

Therefore, Su Lin planned to wait and see which of his subordinates would evolve into a Variant Species first.

As for Xiao Hui, Wolf Sister, and Grey White Little Wolf, they continued to stay by Su Lin’s side without commanding any members of the Wolf Clan.

Although they were Variant Species, it was clear they were not yet strong enough to stand on their own.

Thus, Su Lin had no intention of sending them out.

During these days, Wolf Sister and Grey White Little Wolf had successively broken through to level 5 Variant Species,

and though they had been clumsy cubs a year ago, their wolf bodies had grown to around two meters in size.

Their combat power was also stronger than a level 6 Arctic Wolf. In any other Wolf Pack, they could have been the Lead Wolf.

But with Su Lin, they were not even Beta Wolves.

As the development of the Wolf Pack gradually entered a stable phase, Su Lin set out of the cave with the Little Lone Wolf, Xiao Hui, Grey White Little Wolf, and Wolf Sister.

The vast area of over ten thousand square kilometers was the territory of the Wolf Pack, almost completely cleared of any Hunters.

The Wolf Pack would not encounter any fatal dangers.

This time, Su Lin intended to take a look at that huge Black Fruit Rock Gao Lan.

These exotic flowers and rare herbs seemed unable to move on their own; therefore, they cultivated a group of forces to guard their safety,

So Su Lin thought it should be possible to reach a win-win situation with this Black Fruit Rock Gao Lan.

Of course, if a win-win situation was not possible, then he would have to cut the Gordian knot!

The territory of the Wolf Pack could not permit the existence of unstable factors.

After emerging from the cave, Su Lin looked up at the west, where a pair of golden-brown Wolf Eyes flickered with a terrifying chill when they opened and closed.
