Devouring Evolution: I Reborn as an Arctic Wolf

Chapter 163: Chapter 139 The Deer King Appears.

This wasn’t cold-blooded, but a ruthlessness that one must possess to survive in nature.

Especially since Su Lin was leading a large wolf pack, often it was necessary to eliminate potential threats at their inception.

At this moment, Little Lone Wolf was paving the way in front. With its injuries fully healed, its aura had risen to a higher level.

With Level 12 strength, it was now difficult for Little Lone Wolf to find a match throughout the Arctic.

Even facing that Variant Species Grizzly Bear, the current Little Lone Wolf should be able to hold it off for a moment.

After all, Little Lone Wolf’s speed was almost the same as that of the Variant Species Grizzly Bear, and its talent was that of a Ferocious Wolf; the more it was injured, the greater the enhancement to its strength would be.

As the wolf pack was advancing, the Arctic Foxes and Lynxes still lurking within the Wolf Pack Territory shivered in their caves upon scenting the Wolf Clan,

They dared not even breathe too deeply, fearing that the wolf pack would discover their presence.

In reality, Su Lin’s keen senses had already detected them,

but these Arctic Foxes and Lynxes were smaller hunters.

Even though they sometimes poached food from the Wolf Pack Territory, it was of little consequence.

After all, with their size, they could not eat much even if they did.

Towards these hunters, Su Lin took a laissez-faire approach.

The large herbivore groups they encountered along the way also gathered together anxiously under the menacing aura of Little Lone Wolf and Su Lin, not even nibbling on the moss and shrubs.

However, Su Lin had no intention of hunting today, and they, a few wolves, advanced quickly.

It was only when passing the territory of the Wolf Father that Su Lin noticed the disappearance of the considerable Reindeer Group that had been there.

“Hmm? Could it have been hunted by that Variant Species Grizzly Bear? Even if it was hunted, it couldn’t be so many,” Su Lin thought with some surprise.

Scores of reindeer constituted a significant hunt.

A prey of that size, if hunted by the wolf pack, could provide sustenance for two or three months.

Even though the wolf pack had reached a scale of over three hundred members, devouring massive amounts of food each meal, scores of reindeer still amounted to at least twenty or thirty thousand pounds of flesh.

However, Su Lin merely paused momentarily before moving on.

He planned to return later and ask Wolf Father about it and, at the same time, tell him to strengthen the patrol and protection of his territory.

With more than twenty wolves under the command of Wolf Dad and Wolf Mom, guarding this territory of over a thousand square kilometers should be more than sufficient.

They were undoubtedly no match for the Variant Species Grizzly Bear.

Even so, Su Lin’s cave was only a short twenty to thirty kilometers away, and if there was any trouble, Su Lin could provide rapid support.

Subsequently, during their march, it wasn’t long before they arrived at a steep cliff face.

The sheer angle of the mountain trail was on par with that of the cave where Su Lin resided.

This could deter most ordinary hunters.

Su Lin, with his massive and powerful wolf body, stood at the base of the mountain, looking up to see a Black Fruit Yan Gao Lan that was over two meters tall.

This colossal Black Fruit Yan Gao Lan had taken root in the rock wall crevice.

Known for its cold resistance and tenacious vitality, this Exotic Flower exemplified these qualities to the fullest.

Even in the frigid Arctic, in the nutrient-deprived crevices of the rock wall, it grew stubbornly.

With a single thought from Su Lin, an introduction to this Black Fruit Yan Gao Lan appeared before his eyes.

Species: Black Fruit Yan Gao Lan (Exotic Flower).

Level: Level 13.

Life State: Alive.

Indeed, this Black Fruit Yan Gao Lin’s level was not high.

It must have evolved into an Exotic Flower recently.

This Exotic Flower, let alone be a threat to him, would even find it hard to pose a fatal threat to Little Lone Wolf with its recovered injuries.

Thus, Su Lin and Little Lone Wolf directly passed over the steep mountain path.

Swoosh… Swoosh…

After they passed by, the branches of the Black Fruit Yan Gao Lan visibly trembled several times,

causing a rustling noise.

Communication is often difficult between different species.

So for this action of the Black Fruit Yan Gao Lan, Su Lin did not know the meaning.

But his not baring his talons and fanged teeth already signified his good intentions for this visit.

Unexpectedly, however, it turned out that Little Lone Wolf seemed to understand this Black Fruit Yan Gao Lan’s gestures.

“Awoo!”

After a moment of silence, Little Lone Wolf began to howl softly to Su Lin to convey a message.

Through the intermittent howling, Su Lin also roughly understood why Little Lone Wolf could comprehend what the Black Fruit Yan Gao Lan was trying to say.

“It turns out that the black fruit still contains a fragment of the Exotic Flower’s consciousness, enabling the species that consumed the fruit to understand its meaning.”

Su Lin nodded inwardly to himself.

It was useless to him, however,

because no matter what consciousness it was, under his overwhelming Devouring Power, it would all turn into surging energy.

At this time, Su Lin also signaled to Little Lone Wolf to relay his intentions to the Black Fruit Yan Gao Lan.

The wolf pack could provide protection for the Black Fruit Yan Gao Lan, but in return, it would have to provide a number of fruits to the wolf pack as compensation at regular intervals.

For Exotic Flowers and Rare Herbs that cannot move, safety is often their top priority.

The Little Lone Wolf began to diligently convey the intentions of their leader while also persuading the Black Fruit Yan Gao Lan to agree, as this was a win-win situation for both sides.

Especially since the Little Lone Wolf had already sensed from the intentions conveyed by the Black Fruit Yan Gao Lan a subtle fear towards their own leader.

Once consciousness exists, whether in animals or plants, there exists a fear of any invincible being that can instantly destroy oneself.

Amid the intermittent, low howls of the Little Lone Wolf, time also slowly passed.

…..

It was at this time,

What Su Lin didn’t expect was that a new unrest had suddenly erupted in the seemingly stable Wolf Pack Territory!

Near the Su Lin cave, over two hundred miles away, a tremendous roar of a deer suddenly pierced the silence.

“Yo!”

This deer call was beyond the comprehension of the wolf pack.

Upon hearing this tremendous deer call, the two reindeer groups, one large and one small, within the territory, paused momentarily before starting to run frantically in one direction.

Apart from the reindeer groups, even the sika deer herd and the moose herd showed signs of agitation.

However, under the deterrence of the patrolling wolfess, these deer herds calmed down.

But for the two reindeer groups, no matter how the wolfess threatened, it was of no use.

This left the wolfess with no choice but to let out low howls to call the nearby Wolf Clan for help.

Currently, nearly all the Wolf Clan members were in this area.

The summoning howls of the wolves instantly caused the nearby Wolf Clan to rush over at high speed.

After all, the reward and punishment system within the wolf pack was now in effect, with every member of the Wolf Clan seeking to gain merits to gradually elevate their status.

Whether it’s Wolf Clan members or humans, whenever there are hierarchical layers, all species naturally strive to climb to higher levels.

Beta Wolf!

This position is something many members of a wolf pack dream of attaining,

Because being the Beta Wolf of a large pack holds substantial credibility, far surpassing that of the Beta Wolf in a smaller pack.

At that moment, hundreds of wolves from the pack swarmed in motion.

The howling of wolves often carries penetrating power.

Currently, Cousin and Xiao Hui had extremely sharp hearing.

Upon hearing the series of wolf howls, Cousin and Xiao Hui exchanged glances, let out a low howl, and led the wolves guarding the cave to dash out.

The wolf pack was now on the right track of development, brimming with high morale and fervent fighting spirit!

Swaths of the Wolf Clan rustled as they ran towards the area from where the howl originated.

But as soon as they arrived in the area, they felt a heavy pressure descending upon them.

The wolves with excellent eyesight quickly looked up, trying to locate the source of this pressure!

They didn’t need more than a few seconds before a look of sheer terror painted their wolf eyes.

For they saw a gigantic reindeer, eight or nine meters in size, standing atop a high snowy slope!

The immense reindeer, perched up high, overlooked the many wolves that had gathered below.

The reindeer, swift and robust, had antlers on its head that sparkled with sharp, cold gleams under the soft sunlight!

Its eyes were sharply defined with a clear, luminous gaze,

Facing the swiftly gathering massive wolf pack, its eyes showed not an ounce of panic—instead, a stroke of compelling confidence flitted through.

If Wolf Father were here, he would definitely recognize the scent of this gigantic reindeer,

It turned out to be the same formidable Reindeer Leader they had discussed just as the polar night was ending!

Wolf Father once led the entire Wolf Pack to hunt it but was almost kicked to serious injury by the Reindeer Leader.

Later, he suggested joining forces with Su Lin to hunt the Reindeer Group together.

Yet back then, the Reindeer Leader had mysteriously disappeared.

Unexpectedly, the Reindeer Leader that had been missing for several months reappeared.

By now, Cousin and Xiao Hui rushed over with the wolves left guarding the cave.

In the absence of the Wolf King and the Lead Wolf, they, as the Beta Wolves, naturally had the authority to quell the unrest in the Wolf Pack Territory.

However, upon their arrival and seeing the colossal size of the reindeer, their wolf eyes also flashed with shocking astonishment.

Is this a reindeer? Are there reindeer this large?

Especially the enormous antlers, longer than the tusks of walruses.

Caught in habitual thinking, Cousin and Xiao Hui had already forgotten that their leader, the Little Lone Wolf, and even Wolf Dad and Wolf Mom, as well as themselves, had all surpassed the peak body size of an Arctic Wolf.

They just felt that the reindeer’s size was far too imposing.

The Reindeer Leader standing on the snowy slope was accompanied by over a hundred reindeer, confronting the wolf pack!

“Yo!”

With the formidable Deer King present, the numerous reindeer that once trembled in the Wolf Pack Territory now took the lead in issuing a majestic call!

As the large and small Reindeer Groups joined in, the morale of the deer behind the Reindeer King rose to a new height!

“Yo!”

Another round of deer calls echoed.

Pressured by the sound of deer, the countless wolves also started to howl continuously, attempting to boost the morale of the pack.

For a moment, the crisp deer calls and the resonant wolf howls rose and fell in this region.
