Devouring Evolution: I Reborn as an Arctic Wolf

Chapter 128: Chapter 121 Healing Talent, Encircling and Suppressing Variant Species.

Time passed quickly in the cave,

and with the midnight sun it was always daylight, making it easy to lose track of time.

In the blink of an eye, several days had gone by,

and Su Lin had fully recovered from his injuries thanks to his powerful healing talent, and his physical strength had reached its peak.

From the battle with the large wolf pack, he had gained some experience in fighting against greater numbers.

If he encountered such a battle again in the future, he hoped he would handle it a bit more easily.

During those three days, Su Lin also went out to patrol his territory.

The Arctic, under the midnight sun, should be a bit livelier.

However, the recent catastrophic blizzard froze at least half of the species to death,

leaving sparsely scattered groups of large herbivores to graze.

In the territory he ruled, aside from a few large herbivore species, there were only two Grizzly Bears and three Polar Bears on the ice.

And some scattered Lynxes here and there.

Beyond that, the remaining Lone Wolves in the area had also submitted to the Wolf Pack over these few days.

The Little Lone Wolf now had eighteen wolves under his command, including one at Level 6 and at peak strength.

This strength was enough for this wolf to be the Lead Wolf in another pack, so Su Lin paid extra attention to it.

This Level 6 peak wolf had indeed been the Lead Wolf of a smaller pack,

but it had been defeated by a large pack from the west and was forced to wander here.

Once the area was unified, it tried hunting in the Bear Clan territory but failed,

and it almost got torn apart by a bear,

so it joined the Wolf Pack after surviving the ordeal.

Nevertheless, the wolf was strong,

and soon after joining, it helped drive away some Lynxes that were trying to poach.

Still, it had to start as a Hai Wolf within the pack.

It would slowly rise in rank as it gained more merits.

In the meantime, Su Lin had set some reward and punishment rules for the pack, which could also enhance the combat enthusiasm of the wolves.

Those who performed well in hunting large herbivores could be rewarded with some meat.

Those who excelled in competing for hunting territories and caused casualties could be rewarded with three to ten pounds of Variant Species flesh, depending on the situation,

which was quite substantial for an ordinary wolf.

If one fled from a Hunter without a fight, the punishment would be minor, like not receiving food allocations for a month, or severe, like being expelled from the pack.

For wolves, food is more important than anything else.

Thus, using food as the standard for rewards and punishments is the best approach.

As for promotions within the pack, those who earned rewards more than five times could rise from Hai Wolf to Beta Wolf,

and after earning more than ten rewards, they could become a Lead Wolf.

Those with significant merits could be promoted exceptionally.

Su Lin was already preparing to expand the Wolf Pack into a large one, so more Lead Wolves would need to be promoted in the future.

With these rules in place, ordinary wolves had something to look forward to.

Of course, the messages Su Lin gave to the wolves were simplified since ordinary wolves couldn’t understand anything too complex.

After that, Su Lin had Little Lone Wolf lead the pack to the territory of the large pack in the west to set up a forward position.

They were to see whether any wolves from the large pack were still holding out,

and to scout for any notable Hunters in the area.

The territory of that large pack spanned about three thousand square kilometers,

a considerable area. Having Little Lone Wolf go first was also a way to train the pack’s combat abilities.

“Ao!”

“Ao!”

“Ao!”

…

Obeying the order, Little Lone Wolf let out a long howl and led the pack westward.

Many wolves followed closely behind, an imposing sight.

Now at Level 6, Little Lone Wolf’s strength amongst Variant Species was quite formidable, and together with nearly twenty wolves under his command,

he was almost unbeatable among ordinary species.

Next,

upon returning to the cave, Su Lin checked the rewards he had received over the past few days.

Two vials of Strengthening Serum, three vials of Recovery Potion, and thirty vials of Evolution Potion.

All of these were much needed.

Especially the Strengthening Serum that was essential for increasing his strength!

Beyond that, there was a vial of Talent Serum and another of a defective Talent Serum.

Relatively speaking, the defective Talent Serum simply had a higher failure rate, at a staggering seventy percent.

Looking at his rewards, Su Lin decided to use the Talent Serum first!

After enhancing his Hunting Talent last time, his combat power had increased tremendously,

doubling both his Attack Power and Speed, which was crushing compared to other Variant Species’ talents.

Even a talent like the Ferocious Wolf’s, which grew stronger with injury, couldn’t compare to Hunting Talent at the same level.

The difference between gaining strength through injury and a direct doubling of strength was incomparable.

“I hope to strengthen Hunting again!”

Su Lin thought to himself.

If the Hunting Talent were to be enhanced once more, it was hard to imagine to what extent the increase in combat power would reach!

With this thought in mind, Su Lin took out the Talent Serum.

“Ding! Would you like to use the Talent Serum?”

“Use.”

Su Lin did not hesitate in the slightest.

The Talent Serum was different from the Strengthening Serum, and using it did not cause any discomfort at all.

On the contrary, it was a very comfortable warm flow that surged throughout his entire Wolf Pack.

Limbs and bones, muscles and tendons.

The warm flow didn’t last long, and soon it was completely absorbed.

“Ding! Healing Talent strengthened successfully, advanced to A-Level Talent.”

This pale gray message appeared before his eyes!

“Healing Talent again?”

Su Lin didn’t feel much regret.

After all, the Healing Talent had played an indispensable role in the past few battles.

The Healing Talent’s rapid recovery and clotting effect also had remarkable results during combat.

And the B-Level Healing Talent already had a recovery speed that was a hundred times faster, what astonishing level would A-Level reach?

Shortly after, within a few seconds, the introduction of the A-Level Healing Talent appeared before his eyes.

[Healing]: A-Level (upgradeable), Passive Talent.

The speed of injury healing is increased by five hundred times, immunity to toxins, immunity to bacterial infections, and it is equally effective against spiritual and radiation-type injuries.

Note: Physical strength can be consumed to accelerate the healing speed.

Duration: Permanent.

Cooldown Period: None.

The A-Level Healing Talent,

increased the healing speed to five hundred times.

“Sss! Five hundred times! What a feeling is this?”

Looking at this recovery speed, Su Lin couldn’t help but be somewhat shocked.

Such a recovery pace was simply terrifying.

Common minor injuries might heal in the midst of battle.

Especially considering the note, which added the ability to use physical strength to speed up the healing!

It’s already five hundred times faster, how swift would it be when accelerated further?

It’s probably going to reach a speed of recovery visible to the naked eye!

Such an enhancement of talent also meant that his future survival ability would be elevated to an extremely terrifying level!

With such a fearsome recovery ability, almost no species in the Arctic could pose any threat to him in the future.

At this moment, Su Lin, invigorated, took out the remaining Talent Serums.

“Ding! Would you like to use the Talent Serum (Substandard)?”

“Use.”

Su Lin did not hesitate in the slightest.

This time it didn’t matter which Talent was strengthened, he just hoped it wouldn’t fail.

After all, with a seventy percent failure rate, the substandard Talent Serums were truly frightening.

….

While Su Lin was still in the cave strengthening his Talents,

global powers had already decided after deliberation to dispatch their most elite forces,

preparing to begin hunting the Behemoths, Exotic Trees, and Exotic Flowers that appeared within human sight.

Because after research, numerous scientists reached a unanimous decision.

These species that had unlocked their Genetic Shackles were not only evolving in strength and size, but their intelligence was also rapidly ascending.

Many species now possessed intelligence not inferior to humans.

This was the very reason that made all the powers decide to act!

Intelligence is the most fundamental difference that enables humans to dominate other species,

and now that these genetically unlocked species have intelligence that could rival humans!

This caused the leaders of the great powers to fall into complete panic.

If humans were to lose even the advantage of intelligence,

how would they in the future overpower these species that have broken free from their genetic shackles?

Especially since these species are growing stronger at an incredibly alarming rate.

The rulers of the great powers didn’t want to stand by and watch these species continue to grow stronger.

They wanted to use their current technological advantage to exterminate all these species!

The most aggressive leader of Sakura Country publicly suggested in an Alliance video conference, “There is an old saying from the East that I find apt, ‘Those who are not of our race are sure to have a different heart!’ All the powers must unite, to not just survive this rare Ice Age but also to protect our supreme dominion as humans!”

Once this proposal was put forward, many people agreed one after another!

After comprehensive consideration, the most powerful armed forces of all the great powers appeared together, ready to begin the extermination of all species that had unlocked their genetic shackles.

The Blood Frenzy Python from India Country, the Invincible Lion Group from Africa, the Human-Skin Giant Tree from the Tropical Rainforest, the Patterned Tigers from Siberia, the unknown Sea Monsters from the Deep Sea Zone, and so on, all became the key hunting targets of the great powers.

Besides,

search teams were also dispatched to delve into regions where satellite signals had disappeared, to explore the mysterious species in these areas.
