Devouring Evolution: I Reborn as an Arctic Wolf

Chapter 110: Chapter 104: Return to the Cave.

In the true blood battle, without the advantage of their dominant attributes, the Variant Species Grizzly Bear was like dried bones in a grave, awaiting death, and not worth worrying about.

Su Lin’s wolf eyes narrowed in the icy wilderness, watching the massive body of the Variant Species Grizzly Bear disappear into the blizzard, he then turned around, picked up the huge Ice Bug King with his mouth, and returned to the cave.

As for the bodies of the two Polar Bears, he would later have Xiao Hui and the Little Lone Wolf drag them back as well.

These were bountiful reserves,

He had not yet tried Polar Bear meat, but he imagined it would provide at least a few hundred Evolution Points.

Although he now needed twenty thousand Evolution Points to evolve again, every little bit added up.

A few hundred Evolution Points were not too few for him, nor were a few thousand too many,

With steady growth, he would eventually become the strongest king at the very top of the food chain!

But just as Su Lin was walking away with the corpse of the Ice Bug King, he heard a tender bear roar behind him.

“Roar!”

He turned around to see it was the Polar Bear Cub.

The cub cautiously approached Su Lin from behind, attempting to convey its thoughts through intermittent bear calls.

However, due to the difference in species and language barriers, it was unable to express itself properly for quite some time.

But obviously, the intelligence of this Polar Bear Cub seemed to exceed that of its peers.

Otherwise, such a small cub would have been terrified by the dominant Hunter and would be crying miserably by now, not daring to approach proactively.

Curious, Su Lin summoned with a thought the Numerical Attributes of the Polar Bear Cub.

Species: Polar Bear (Variant Species)

Level: 2.

Qi-Blood: 525.

Endurance: 35.

Strength: 33.

Defense: 36.

Speed: 12.

As expected, the Polar Bear Cub was also a Variant Species, with a rather sumptuous Attribute Panel.

After the great upheaval,

the calamity-like blizzard, some creatures with strong growth potential and an abundance of food, all evolved into Variant Species.

Perhaps these new Variant Species were not as monstrous as those before the calamity, but their growth potential was much greater than that of the Ordinary Species.

So Su Lin did not shoo this Polar Bear Cub away but let it follow him instead.

If this Polar Bear Cub were well nurtured, its combat power in the future would not be inferior to that of the Variant Species Grizzly Bear.

Though they couldn’t communicate with words,

the high intelligence of Variant Species meant that they would likely have no problems understanding each other through body language in the future.

“Roar.”

The tender bear calls sounded again, and seeing that the large White Wolf did not drive it away, the Polar Bear Cub cautiously followed.

Now that both its Bear Dad and Bear Mom had been killed by that dreadful Grizzly Bear, it had no one to rely on.

Even its own life was probably targeted by that Grizzly Bear, and now the only thing that could give it a sense of security was the large White Wolf in front of it.

Because with the White Wolf’s mere presence and aura, it was able to make the Grizzly Bear flee in desperation.

So the cub started running desperately, trying to keep up with the White Wolf’s pace.

But to the cub, the White Wolf was enormous.

Even while dragging a white larva that weighed hundreds of pounds, walking normally across the icy wilderness,

the White Wolf’s speed was still too fast for the cub.

Taking one step was like the cub running ten steps, forcing it not to slack for even a moment.

…Thud…Thud…

The faint sound of the little bear paws sinking into the ice and snow, the Polar Bear Cub closely followed Su Lin’s tracks on all fours.

After traveling approximately ten kilometers, seeing that the Polar Bear Cub was about to run out of energy, Su Lin also slightly slowed down his pace.

“Roar.”

Feeling the White Wolf slow down, the Polar Bear Cub was grateful and surprised, letting out a low roar.

This behavior could very well mean that the White Wolf was taking it in.

At least for the future, it wouldn’t have to constantly fear being eaten by that terrifying Grizzly Bear.

This sense of security was something the cub had never received from its Bear Dad and Bear Mom.

The cub rushed forward again, panting heavily, eager to demonstrate its potential and capabilities.

Because in its understanding of nature, whether a Wolf Pack or any other Species, no one would take in a weakling or a waste for no reason.

So to truly stay by the side of this White Wolf, it had to perform well.

As for the grief and anger over the death of its parents, the cub was too weak to do anything but bury those feelings deep in its heart.

And so,

Su Lin, dragging the corpse of the Ice Bug King, returned to the cave.

Behind him, the Polar Bear Cub also followed closely.

“`

Just returning, the other members smelled the scent of the Polar Bear,

and they all scrambled up, a tinge of tension visible in their wolf eyes.

It was only the Little Lone Wolf who, the more pressure it faced, the more intense the madness and ferocity in its eyes became.

This was also the source of the Little Lone Wolf’s formidable fighting strength,

its inherent savagery and madness were hardly different from the ferocity of the Variant Species Lynx that had fought its way through.

However, with Su Lin’s appearance, the ferocity in the Little Lone Wolf’s eyes gradually dissipated.

The rest of the young wolves gathered around as well, disbelief evident in their eyes.

Su Lin’s arrival this time had indeed caused them a great shock.

Su Lin’s body had swelled so much that it was about one meter larger in size.

Fortunately, when selecting the cave in the beginning, they had specifically chosen a very spacious one,

otherwise, if they had chosen the kind of small cave like the one Wolf Dad and Wolf Mom had, Su Lin might have needed to crouch just to enter it.

“Ao!”

The Level 3 Wolf Sister and the Grey White Little Wolf, thrilled, rushed forward,

their wolf bodies of over one meter were simply unnoticeable in front of Su Lin.

Even the Level 5 Cousin, Xiao Hui, and the Little Lone Wolf seemed tiny in his presence.

However, in the Wolf Pack, because of abundant food, Wolf Sister and the Grey White Little Wolf had started practicing hunting techniques since they were young,

and their potential was well developed. Moreover, after eating a lot of Variant Species meat, they had evolved into Variant Species as well.

The Wolf Pack now had four Variant Species members. If the Polar Bear Cub was included,

then in the future, just the five of them would be enough to become the absolute overlord of this hundred-mile radius!

Since Su Lin had decided to take in the Polar Bear Cub, he had also given it a nickname, calling it Xiao Bai.

His nicknaming was as straightforward as ever,

Next, Su Lin let out a simple low howl to respond to the affection and surprise of the group of young cubs in the Wolf Pack.

He also communicated through the howl that the Polar Bear was a new member of the pack,

which only added to the Wolf Pack’s astonishment.

A Polar Bear joining a Wolf Pack?

In their minds, this was a paradigm shift.

After all, the Polar Bear in their hearts was still the Arctic Overlord of old.

Such a being, even a Wolf Pack of a dozen or even twenty, would not dare to provoke.

Because the Talons and Fanged Teeth of the Wolf Clan couldn’t even penetrate the thick skin and fat of the Polar Bear,

let alone target vulnerabilities like eyes and nose easily.

However, Su Lin didn’t explain too much to them because, with more interactions in the future, they would have no more doubts.

But since Wolf Clan and Bear Clan had different living habits, to avoid misunderstandings and conflicts,

Su Lin specifically set aside a corner for Xiao Bai to live in.

Food and the like would be brought to him by Xiao Hui.

The Polar Bear Cub, although it couldn’t understand the meaning conveyed by the wolf howls, slowly went to a corner after seeing the White Wolf signal with a head lift,

and began panting with loud huffs.

Afterward, Su Lin placed the enormous corpse of the Ice Bug King in another corner of the cave.

The current food reserves in the cave were still quite substantial,

with about one thousand four or five hundred pounds of meat from Ordinary Species. If adding the two Polar Bears, it probably broke through to around three or four thousand pounds.

But Su Lin had no intention of bringing back the two Polar Bears, instead planning to take them to the caves of the two patrolling Wolfesses.

On one hand, eating its parents in front of the Polar Bear Cub seemed somewhat unjustifiable.

Although it might accept it,

since in nature, for survival, devouring close blood relations to live on is not uncommon, but there was no need for that.

On the other hand, he needed to prepare a backup for the food supply and not put all the eggs in one basket.

As the Little Lone Wolf grew stronger, Su Lin planned to let it hold its own.

In this region, many Hunters had already died.

From the initial crushing suppression of the nearby Wolf Packs by the Variant Species Lynx, to the two Polar Bears being torn alive, quite a bit of territory had been freed up.

With the catastrophic snowstorm passed, it was time to expand the territory again.

Also, he would select some potential members of the Wolf Clan to further strengthen the Wolf Pack’s power.

With his own strength increasing, the power of the Wolf Pack must be elevated too, otherwise, it would be difficult to provide him with assistance.

Moreover, Su Lin had a hunch that there might be a fierce battle with the large Wolf Pack to the west in the future.

One should know that the previous hunting by nearly a hundred members of the Wolf Clan was probably not all the strength of the large Wolf Pack.

Because the Wolf King of that large Wolf Pack had never shown up from beginning to end.

That was an Arctic Wolf that had evolved into a Variant Species before the disaster, and should not be underestimated.

Now, looking at the snowstorm gradually stopping outside, Su Lin lifted his head to look west, a cold light flashing across his wolf eyes.

Next,

he let out a low howl, signaling Xiao Hui and the Little Lone Wolf to leave the cave and led them toward the scene of the great battle between the Polar Bear and the Variant Species Grizzly Bear in the ice layer.
