Devouring Evolution: I Reborn as an Arctic Wolf

Chapter 117: Chapter 111 Visiting Wolf Father, Encountering Variant Species Again.

The midnight sun had completely descended, and with no more nightfall, the entire Arctic tundra was shrouded in everlasting light.

The gentle sunlight bathed every corner of the icy snow-covered land.

As the blizzard stopped, the rampant, harsh cold current finally began to dissipate.

Large herds of grazing species also emerged from their hiding spots beneath the dissolving cave walls to forage for food.

After Su Lin’s wolf pack had completely unified the region,

seven lone wolves, seeker of wanderlust, successively sought to join the pack.

Because if they didn’t join the pack, they would be driven out, facing a new exile.

Even with the arrival of the midnight sun, and the storm-like blizzard gone,

the mortality rate of a new exile would still skyrocket.

Driven by the desire to survive, these wolves all humbly pledged their loyalty to the pack.

After Su Lin inspected them, most were Arctic Wolves of the fourth or fifth level, and since wolves of this level already had basic combat capability, he accepted them all.

He also picked two she-wolves with peak fourth-level combat strength to join his cousin’s command.

After all, with the expansion of territory, using only four she-wolves for patrolling was no longer adequate.

Currently, Little Lone Wolf commanded sixteen wolves, and his cousin commanded six patrolling wolfesses in the territory.

Such a scale of the wolf pack was already very powerful in the Arctic.

In the past few days, the terrifying growth potential of the Polar Bear Cub had also become apparent,

having just consumed about twenty pounds of Variant Species flesh, it broke through to the third level, none inferior in combat to a fourth-level Arctic Wolf.

This showed that, with time, Xiao Bai’s combat strength would increase day by day.

The Bear Clan’s genetics were naturally more powerful, and a faster growth was within Su Lin’s expectations.

However, once the Ice Mountain Lotus truly blossomed, with the overflow of pure energy,

it was thought that all members of the wolf pack would undergo a rapid growth.

Aside from further enhancing the strength of the wolf pack, Su Lin naturally continued to track the traces of the Variant Species Grizzly Bear during this time.

In the end, he did not discover the trace of this bear,

which made Su Lin somewhat regretful!

He hadn’t expected this Variant Species Grizzly Bear to be so cautious with its life,

wishing he’d decided to take it down at first, even at the cost of a Recovery Potion!

Because that was a Variant Species Grizzly Bear, after all, a massive creature over four meters, nearly reaching five.

With at least a few thousand pounds of Variant Species flesh and 18 levels of Variant Species essence.

Swallowing it down would conservatively yield over a thousand Evolution Points and a bottle of Talent Serum.

But Su Lin didn’t regret too much, after all, as long as that Variant Species Grizzly Bear was in the Arctic, there would eventually be a time to encounter it again.

Besides,

his cousin also reported with a low howl that there had recently been a subtle increase in different wolf clans on the periphery of their territory, which weren’t lone wolves, but small wolf packs three to five strong.

Even between the wolf packs, there was some collaboration.

Even when Little Lone Wolf led their fifteen or so wolves in a full onslaught, they couldn’t do much to them.

These wolves didn’t seem to fear lone Little Lone Wolf, nor his cadre of wolves.

Considering Little Lone Wolf’s current strength and ferocity, he should be in a totally dominating position against ordinary wolves.

But when he returned this time, Su Lin clearly noticed some injuries on Little Lone Wolf.

This made Su Lin look up to the west, and a hint of sharpness flashed in his golden-brown Wolf Eyes.

He knew that these were the vanguard forces of a large wolf pack from the west.

After the blizzard had passed, that large wolf pack had once again started its aggressive expansion.

Su Lin even suspected that among the large wolf pack, some had evolved into Variant Species.

After all, with such a vast number of wolves in that pack, they could be considered supreme in the area for two to three hundred miles around.

In this region, totaling just three to four hundred wolves, the large wolf pack accounted for at least a third of the total.

Such a number was astonishing, and it was only logical that one or two talented wolves would evolve into Variant Species.

In light of the threat posed by the large wolf pack, Su Lin decided to check on Wolf Dad and Wolf Mom.

Because their territory was closest to the large wolf pack, it was also where conflict was most likely to occur.

But just as Su Lin had traveled several kilometers towards Wolf Dad’s cave,

suddenly he faintly heard a tumultuous howling coming from the direction of Wolf Dad’s territory.

Since Su Lin had been reshaped from head to toe at the bottom of the mountain crevice, his hearing had become extremely acute.

He cocked his wolf head and then fully opened the thin membrane in his ears, allowing him to hear any sound within a dozen kilometers.

This was a level of hearing far beyond the normal biological limits.

And the distance between Su Lin’s territory and Wolf Dad’s cave was only about twenty kilometers.

Finally, he roughly discerned the loud cacophony of howls.

It was the sound of wolf pack command and fierce combat, which made Su Lin’s eyes narrow slightly.

His speed of hundreds of meters per second was fully adjusted to its peak at this moment.

“Could it really be a conflict with that large wolf pack?”

Su Lin was worried about Wolf Dad and Wolf Mom.

Because even though Wolf Dad had evolved into a Variant Species, the wolf pack he led was definitely no match for the large wolf pack.

He feared that Wolf Dad and Wolf Mom would be at a disadvantage.

This made Su Lin not even bother to summon the wolf pack, instead, he dashed alone towards the source of the noise.

His speed was like a white bolt of lightning.

Su Lin was nearly twenty kilometers from the site of the noisy howling.

That was no short distance, ordinary species migrating twenty kilometers would need several hours at least.

But for Su Lin, with his peak Speed Value, this distance took roughly three minutes.

Three minutes was not a long time.

Upon arrival, he stood on a snow slope, and what caught his eye was precisely Wolf Dad’s wolf pack.

Wolf Dad and Wolf Mom, with their equally snow-white fur, were very conspicuous among the many wolves.

“Howl!”

Wolf Father howled fiercely as he commanded the wolf pack to charge.

But the object of their charge somewhat relieved Su Lin.

It was a group of large musk oxen, numbering more than twenty.

It was clear that Wolf Father had not been idle after the blizzard,

and began taking advantage of the weakest moment of the musk ox group to start the hunt.

Wolf Father’s current strength had reached Level 7 peak,

and being a variant species, his strength was already a significant threat to the musk ox group.

Wolf Mother, commanding the wolf pack from the flank of the musk ox group, was also very agile,

Su Lin glanced and noticed that after eating the variant species flesh he had sent, Wolf Mother had finally reached Level 6.

A Level 6 wolfess among the Arctic wolf clan was exceedingly rare.

With the increase in strength, it was obvious that Wolf Mother’s prestige was also growing,

and with a low howl, numerous members of the Wolf Clan charged fearlessly towards the musk ox group.

The tactics of Wolf Father and Wolf Mother were commonly used within the pack.

After harassment, they would divide the battlefield, then concentrate their superior forces to kill isolated prey in one fell swoop.

Only this time, the wolf pack was clearly struggling to divide the battlefield!

“Moo!”

“Moo!”

“Moo!”

…

With the musk ox group’s fierce resistance, the wolf pack’s successive raids were completely scattered.

Even after Wolf Father took the lead in charging, he was countered by a forceful collision from the musk ox leader.

Reliant on a Speed Value of over eighty, Wolf Father narrowly dodged the musk ox leader’s strike.

However, after Wolf Father maneuvered past, the remaining force of the musk ox leader was unspent,

Bang!

Bang!

The force of the brutal impacts smashed two huge piles of ice and snow before it finally came to a stop.

Then it lifted its head, those deep purple bovine eyes held a disdainful gaze as they swept over the entire wolf pack!

The musk ox leader was obviously much stronger than expected, and that was the main reason for the repeated failures of Wolf Father and Wolf Mother’s charges.

The musk ox leader’s massive body, at a full three meters, also exuded the aura belonging only to the strong.

Seeing this, Su Lin couldn’t help but feel a spark of excitement.

With a thought, he quickly pulled up the musk ox leader’s numerical attributes.

Species: Musk Ox (Variant Species).

Level: 11.

Qi-Blood: 2785.

Endurance: 139.

Strength: 131.

Defense: 129.

Speed: 78.

Talent: Savage Collision (D-rank).

Variant Species!

Indeed, it’s a Variant Species!

“Haha, what a stroke of luck not found even in earnest search, coming effortlessly when least expected!”

Su Lin’s spirit instantly lifted,

Currently, only Variant Species could grant him a substantial amount of Evolution Points, and Variant Species flesh could also rapidly enhance the strength of the wolf pack.

This musk ox leader with a massive three-meter frame and a weight that was definitely a ton was a considerable catch.

If slaughtered, it would be a substantial gain!

Having searched for a Variant Species Grizzly Bear for so long without success, he had now encountered a Variant Species Musk Ox.

In the Arctic, where the number of species is not very high, the probability of variant species appearing is very low, and each one found is quite a significant find.

Barely sustaining the wolf pack’s survival, ordinary species flesh no longer sufficed after the great changes to the world.

Only Variant Species flesh was the real coveted asset!

“Ao!”

With that thought, Su Lin let out a long howl.

The deep, resonating wolf howl echoed instantly over the ice and snow!

At the same time,

the aura on his body no longer concealed and suppressed, began to surge wildly!

Since he had encountered it, he would unceremoniously claim it!

As the aura around Su Lin rapidly soared,

the wolf pack led by Wolf Father became agitated and looked up from all sides towards Su Lin on the higher snow slope.

When that huge body, measuring a full four meters, appeared in the pale blue wolf eyes of the many members of the Wolf Clan,

many who had rarely seen Su Lin were clearly startled.

Because the aura that Su Lin now emitted was too overpowering and terrifying.

This was not an opponent they could withstand.

Facing the Variant Species Musk Ox Leader, the wolf pack still had the confidence to fight,

but facing Su Lin, they even felt that fleeing was a luxury.

The senior members of the pack, having smelled Su Lin’s familiar scent, responded with long howls.

And Wolf Dad and Wolf Mom, seeing their own offspring’s significantly grown body on the high ridge, were also filled with shock and joy.

Then the howling resounded, one after the other, filling the bitterly cold skies.
