Chapter 38: Chapter 38: Return to the Cave.

Editor: Henyee Translations

Xiao Hui dragged the dogfish, running very fast.

The distance from the ice layer to the cave was not short.

But in his rapid advance, it took only an hour to return to the cave.

The trip back was very smooth,

not encountering any hunters who wanted to snatch it.

After returning,

Xiao Hui also wanted to take the initiative to drag the Northern Dogfish up the mountain.

But despite exerting all his might, he could only barely drag it halfway before quickly sliding back down.

Although Xiao Hui had leveled up again,

dragging such a large Northern Dogfish up the mountain was still too much for him.

After several unsuccessful attempts,

the last time even resulted in a face-plant, his mouth filled with snow and ice.

“Ow! Ow!”

Xiao Hui could not help but howl anxiously.

In the end, it was Su Lin who dragged the Northern Dogfish back to the cave.

Once inside the cave,

Su Lin tossed the seven or eight catties of Arctic Salmon to his cousin, Wolf Sister, and Grey White Little Wolf.

But the three wolves, having eaten grizzly bear meat today,

had their little bellies so distended that they could only sniff the salmon.

Unsure of what it was,

they had rarely left the cave and naturally did not recognize this fish from the North Arctic Ocean.

It was only then that Xiao Hui approached them and started howling.

He was communicating the fish flesh’s fresh, succulent juiciness and delightful taste.

The howling even conveyed the Divine Might he displayed while hunting fish on the ice layer.

However, it was clear,

even though Xiao Hui had become much smarter and could express complex ideas,

his cousin, Wolf Sister, and Grey White Little Wolf, with their simple minds, still couldn’t understand what he was saying.

They only felt confused.

However, they did understand that the Arctic Salmon was a very tasty food.

“Ow!”

Confronted with such a delicacy,

Wolf Sister couldn’t help but pat her round belly, slightly annoyed at herself for eating too much earlier.

The cousin only sliced open the Arctic Salmon to sample a taste.

Upon tasting it, her eyes lit up.

Indeed, the fish was truly delicious.

The cousin’s self-restraint was relatively strong.

Being full, she only sampled it and didn’t eat more.

After all, the food was right there in the cave and wasn’t going to vanish into thin air.

Whenever she chose to eat, it would be the same.

Su Lin then dragged the sizable Northern Dogfish to one side of the cave,

his sharp wolf claws flashing a cold gleam as he gutted the fish.

Soon, the fish’s supremely tender flesh was exposed.

Having eaten only one and a half Arctic Salmon, Su Lin was only halfway full.

Gazing at the tender flesh of the Northern Dogfish, he started eating again.

Rip. Tear.

He tore away large pieces of the bloody fish flesh and consumed it.

The tender fish flesh had a faint sweet fishiness in his mouth.

Aside from the sweetness, the texture of the fish was also firm and pleasing to bite.

This was because the Northern Dogfish was naturally aggressive and belligerent.

A fish that often fought would naturally have firmer and tastier flesh than ordinary fish.

“Ding! Host has consumed Northern Dogfish, receiving 15 Evolution Points.”

The Evolution Points from the Northern Dogfish were not few.

Without the boost from an Evolution Potion, it still yielded 5 Evolution Points,

equal to the Evolution Points provided by musk ox meat.

The fish flesh was exceptionally tender and delicious, coupled with the acquisition of valuable Evolution Points.

Su Lin’s appetite suddenly increased, and he devoured the meal voraciously.

The juicy fish flesh was chewed a few times in Su Lin’s mouth before being swallowed into his stomach.

“Ding! Host has consumed Northern Dogfish, receiving 14.5 Evolution Points.”

“Ding! Host has consumed Northern Dogfish, receiving 14 Evolution Points.”

“Ding! Host has consumed Northern Dogfish, receiving 13.5 Evolution Points.”

…

Evolution Points were being rapidly acquired.

In one sitting, Su Lin had eaten thirteen or fourteen catties of fish flesh.

Besides Evolution Points, the rich protein in the fish also supplied him with plenty of nutrition and energy.

After eating his fill,

Su Lin stood up and signaled for Xiao Hui to eat.

Xiao Hui had only eaten a few traveling rats and most of an Arctic Salmon on his excursion, clearly only half full.

Having watched the lead wolf eat just now, he was drooling with desire.

Now, hearing the lead wolf’s command, he eagerly tumbled and scrambled over,

arriving beside the Northern Dogfish corpse and began to eat heartily.

Next,

Su Lin went to the cave entrance and gazed out into the distance.

He looked at the pitch darkness of the night,

his heart feeling a bit homesick for Wolf Dad and Wolf Mom.

Having been away from them for a while, it was time to go back for a visit.

He wondered,

how had Wolf Dad and Wolf Mom been getting along in this time?

They might be facing difficulties hunting in times of food scarcity,

but with as many as eight adult Arctic wolves in the Wolf Pack,

there likely weren’t any hunters foolish enough to provoke them.

He didn’t need to worry about their safety.

At that moment, Su Lin,

let out a long howl, easing the emotions in his heart.

“Ow!”

His long howl was loud and clear.

It carried a long distance, resonating through the chilly Arctic sky.

Then he turned his head, indicating for his cousin to go to sleep,

while Su Lin lay on a rock at the entrance of the cave, resting with his eyes closed, remaining on guard.

The cave was located high on a mountain,

and the heavier, clumsier grizzly bears and polar bears would have a hard time climbing up.

As for any hunters that might make the ascent, they wouldn’t pose much threat to the Wolf Pack.

The safety of this cave, compared to the one where Wolf Dad and Wolf Mom stayed, was indeed very high.
