Devouring Evolution: I Reborn as an Arctic Wolf

Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Reborn as a Wolf.

Editor: Henyee Translations

The Arctic, a land of severe cold.

The arrival of winter brought silence to heaven and earth, and made the already snow-covered Arctic even more desolate. The animals that were scarce to begin with had now become invisible.

In a cave somewhere in the Arctic, a young Arctic wolf was sleeping in the embrace of a robust female wolf.

Su Lin turned over, feeling warm all over. This was truly a great place to sleep.

Howl!

A howl pierced the air.

Su Lin, half-asleep, tried to move his arm to rub his eyes.

But…He suddenly awoke completely!

Wait…where are my arms?

And…what’s going on with my voice?

To his horror, Su Lin discovered he no longer had arms or hands, and his voice had turned into a wolf’s howl!

“I must be dreaming,” he thought to himself.

However, as he twisted his body around to look, he was shocked to find that he had indeed turned into a small wolf.

A pure white Arctic wolf pup, about only 30 centimeters in length.

“What the heck is going on?” Su Lin’s mind went blank.

Once he calmed down, he quickly tried to remember what had happened before he fell asleep.

Su Lin was a rich second generation who loved adventures. As for his parents, busy with the development of their company, they had always left him to fend for himself,

facing life’s storms alone for over twenty years.

And yesterday, he had undertaken an expedition to a mysterious cave.

There, he discovered a crystal coffin carved with complex texts and imagery!

The Crystal Coffin—to think, even in today’s advanced society, crafting such a coffin would require unimaginable expenses, let alone in ancient times.

So, consumed by curiosity, Su Lin closely examined it for a long time.

Owing to his extensive experience in exploration, combined with his major in archaeology at university, he vaguely understood some of the inscriptions on the coffin.

But they were all disjointed and made little sense.

Phrases like “Ice Age,” “great changes to heaven and earth,” “species evolution,” “Divine Demons revival,” and the like.

Perhaps it was the effort of analyzing the coffin’s inscriptions that had drained too much of Su Lin’s mental energy, because as he prepared to leave, he suddenly felt the world spinning around him, and then he collapsed into unconsciousness on the floor.

But he had not anticipated that, after falling asleep, he would be reborn!

Reborn as a wolf!

He lifted his white wolf paw and struck himself hard.

“Smack!”

It hurt.

That very real sensation of pain made Su Lin’s face fall.

“Could it really be that I’ve turned into a wolf, a small Arctic wolf? Oh heavens, don’t play such a trick on me, my life hasn’t even started yet?”

But no matter how long Su Lin cried out in his heart, nothing changed.

He had indeed turned into a wolf, a small Arctic wolf.

Fortunately, having lived alone since he was young, Su Lin was highly adaptable and it didn’t take long for him to get used to his new identity.

But just as he was getting acclimated to it,

suddenly,

a faint grey wall appeared before his eyes that only he could see.

Name: Su Lin.

Species: Arctic Wolf.

Level: 0 (requires 10 Evolution Points to level up).

Qi-Blood: 10.

Endurance: 1.

Strength: 1.

Defense: 1.

Speed: 1.

Evolution Points: 0.

[Devouring Evolution activated successfully, host receives activation reward: Ten Potential Potions (to be used for developing one’s own potential).]

“What’s this?”

Looking at the pale gray wall that suddenly appeared in front of his eyes,

Su Lin was initially shocked, then a glimmer of joy flashed in his eyes.

Thankfully, his situation wasn’t too tragic,

although he had become a small Arctic Wolf, a “golden finger” had appeared.

Not to mention the possibility of evolving into a human,

at the very least, striving to survive in the icy, snowy Arctic should no longer be an issue.

“Devouring Evolution means in the future I can grow by devouring other things, as for Qi-Blood…”

Su Lin began to analyze the various numerical values on the attribute panel.

The Qi-Blood on the attribute bar was equivalent to Life Points.

If Qi-Blood fell to 0, it would likely signify the end of life.

Endurance was equivalent to Physical Strength.

Strength was decisive in a creature’s Attack Power and Destructive Power.

Speed, naturally, referred to running and reaction speed.

These things were broadly quite easy to understand.

As for the Potential Potion, it also had a detailed note,

it was a wonderful thing that, upon consumption, could develop one’s bodily potential.

As Su Lin analyzed these things, he completely emerged from the depression of being reborn as a wolf.

At this moment, stepping out, he slightly raised his snowy white, adorable little wolf head and glanced at Wolf Mother, who had one paw wrapped around him.

Immediately, Wolf Mother’s attribute panel also appeared before his eyes.

Species/Race: Arctic Wolf (Female).

Level: Level 4.

Qi-Blood: 432.

Endurance: 42.

Strength: 39.

Defense: 37.

Speed: 35.

It had to be said, Wolf Mother’s attributes were much stronger than his current ones.

It looked like this was the average standard for a female Arctic Wolf.

Su Lin struggled to free himself from Wolf Mother’s paw and shakily climbed onto her belly, looking towards the rest of the cave.

He discovered several other Arctic Wolves lying around, sleeping and conserving their energy.

It seemed that wolves indeed were social animals.

Right beside Wolf Mother, the closest one was Wolf Father.

After scanning each wolf once, Su Lin realized that currently in the cave, Wolf Father had the highest attributes.

Furthermore, judging from the fact that Wolf Father and Wolf Mother were in the center of the cave, where the sunlight could reach,

it was estimated that in the Wolf Pack, Wolf Father was still the lead.

Species/Race: Arctic Wolf (Male).

Level: Level 6

Qi-Blood: 589.

Endurance: 68.

Strength: 59.

Defense: 57.

Speed: 60.

These were Wolf Father’s attributes.

Such attributes were also significantly superior to Wolf Mother’s and could be considered outstanding among male Arctic Wolves.

“Awoo.”

Just as Su Lin was preparing to use his tender little paws to crawl out of the cave to see the outside world, Wolf Mother was awakened.

She looked at her young, clumsily scurrying on top of her, growled discontentedly, and directly scooped Su Lin back into her embrace.

Only then did Su Lin notice there was another small female Arctic Wolf in the embrace, seemingly younger than himself, probably his Wolf Sister.

Now, Wolf Sister was contentedly sucking on the teat in front of her.

Watching Wolf Sister eat so delightfully, Su Lin also felt a sense of hunger quickly approaching.

Although his mind was quite resistant, he couldn’t suppress the body’s instinctive desire.

He leaned over and started to suckle just like Wolf Sister.

“Ding! Consuming Arctic Wolf Mother’s Milk, Evolution Points +0.1!”

The system voice that rang beside his ear, combined with the sweet taste coming from his taste buds, made Su Lin’s little wolf eyes light up.
