Devouring Evolution: I Reborn as an Arctic Wolf

Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Obtaining the Potion.

The barrage in the live stream room was filled with amazement.

And many netizens were also paying attention to Tiffany.

Reading these messages,

Tiffany smiled amicably and answered generally, “Thank you for the love, everyone. I am a wildlife researcher from Kroson Federation Academy, and I will be live streaming from the Arctic Circle. I’ll be paying special attention to this White Wolf.”

After Tiffany replied with a smile, the barrage in the live stream room filled with messages asking her to track and film the White Wolf or to take close-up shots.

For these requests, she could only spread her hands helplessly, indicating her inability to do so.

After all, when filming in the icy Arctic, the most important thing is to ensure one’s own safety.

Being alone, without a team to back her up, it was difficult for her to do tracking shots.

As for close-up shots, she could try if there was a chance.

She was very fond of this extraordinarily handsome and ferociously aggressive White Wolf.

If she could take close-up shots, she would naturally be willing.

She could even sense that this White Wolf’s intelligence was far superior to its kind.

As a wildlife researcher,

what Tiffany dreamt of was to find a variety of intelligent animals.

Initially, she planned to study primates like gorillas, but after seeing this White Wolf, she gave up that idea.

Because the intelligence of this White Wolf surprised her.

She was also very pleased that she now had a topic for her next academic paper.

…

“Awoooo!”

At this moment, with a loud wolf howl, the sound echoed again over the vast Arctic Continent.

The hunt on the Arctic Continent finally came to its end.

The struggling Musk Ox began to lose the sparkle in its purple-blue eyes.

This not-yet-fully-grown Musk Ox, having fought against the Hunter with all its might, eventually fell.

With a weight of four to five hundred pounds, it crashed to the ground, sending snow and ice flying.

Its blood, scattered on the stark white snow, was strikingly conspicuous.

“Huff! Huff!”

At this time, Su Lin, looking at the Musk Ox that had stopped moving, was also panting heavily and let go of his bite.

After releasing his grip, several light grey notification messages popped up in front of Su Lin.

A David beats Goliath!

A breakthrough in battle!

Precise evasion!

Final victory!

Target deceased!

Combat Rating: S.

[For this battle rating: S, you have obtained ten Potential Potions and three Evolution Potions.]

“Hmm? An S rating this time, too?”

Su Lin was somewhat surprised.

But it also filled his eyes with a hint of delight.

He had thought that like the last time, he would need to battle bloodily with the Lynx, both sides drenched in blood, to earn an S rating.

But now, it seemed that as long as there were enough highlights in the battle, he could earn a good rating.

This time, the evaluation criteria lacked the bloody battle but added a ‘Precise evasion’ category.

Moreover, the S rating also came with substantial rewards.

“Awoooo!”

This made Su Lin somewhat excited.

However, after the excitement, he shook the fresh blood off his fur.

To end the battle swiftly, Su Lin had bitten into the Musk Ox’s throat.

The Musk Ox, in its struggles, splattered a lot of blood, which stained Su Lin from head to toe.

He then ferociously tore a chunk of flesh from the neck of the Musk Ox.

“Ding! Host consumes Musk Ox, acquires 4.7 Evolution Points.”

The flesh of the Musk Ox, once eaten, turned into rolling energy and was converted into Evolution Points.

This hunt had brought Su Lin many rewards.

He had advanced to level 5, his strength making another dramatic leap forward.

Besides that, he had not yet had to play his trump card—his Hunting Talent.

He managed to kill the musk ox using just his own strength.

Now, Su Lin felt that if he activated his Hunting Talent,

he could even take on a real adult musk ox!

Of course, it would just be an attempt, without the certainty of a sure kill.

At that moment, while Su Lin was pondering this, he was not idle.

He began tearing and swallowing the musk ox’s flesh.

The meat of the musk ox was very tender, elastic, and tasty, creating a satisfying and smooth eating experience.

Even as he tore into the musk ox’s flesh, he could see the muscle still quivering.

This indicated that the nervous endings of the flesh were not yet dead, reacting when stimulated.

Once in his mouth, he could also feel the twitching.

Fresh!

Utterly fresh!

Even in his previous life, when his family was well-off, he had never tasted such fresh wild beef!

Of course, back then, he would not have eaten such fresh meat.

“Ding! Host has consumed musk ox, obtained 4.4 Evolution Points.”

“Ding! Host has consumed musk ox, obtained 4.1 Evolution Points.”

“Ding! Host has consumed musk ox, obtained 3.8 Evolution Points.”

…

His Evolution Points grew rapidly as he ate.

After eating about seven to eight jin of meat, feeling about seventy percent full, Su Lin stopped eating.

The seven to eight jin of musk ox flesh had provided him with more than forty Evolution Points.

However, to advance from level 5 to 6, he needed 320 Evolution Points, so he was still far short.

In the future,

the hunting and evolution path would be long and fraught with obstacles.

The Arctic had already entered the cold season,

and the area covered by the polar night within the Arctic Circle was growing larger as time passed.

Although it had not yet covered the area where Su Lin was located, the length of the night had clearly increased.

It was afternoon when Su Lin had set out.

By the time he finished eating, the sky had already turned completely dark.

And those pale blue eyes of his had turned into a pair that twinkled with green light at night.

The eyes of a wolf are intricately constructed.

The special photoreceptor cells at the bottom of the eyes can collect the faint and scattered light at night, and after concentrating it, reflect it out.

Therefore, even though the sky was completely dark, Su Lin could still see very clearly in the darkness.

The only thing was those eyes, flickering with green light, could make an ordinary person feel a terrifying chill to the core.

Meanwhile, Tiffany in the SUV not far away felt the temperature of the Arctic Continent dropping as the night went on,

and despite the parking heater in the car, she could still feel a slight chill seeping in from outside.

In addition, the phone’s camera could no longer support nighttime shooting.

So she quietly started the car, preparing to leave.

The viewers from different countries in the livestream were telling Tiffany to take care on her way with a few words each.

The nights on the Arctic Continent are deep, and Tiffany had never filmed this late before.

Looking at the pitch-dark night, she inevitably felt a tinge of fear.

Thankfully, the occasional comments in the livestream gave her a sense of security.

Humans are also social animals; sometimes, a few words from fellow beings can quickly bring peace to the heart.

Thinking of this, Tiffany couldn’t help but think,

how strong and brave the heart of an Arctic wolf must be, to dare hunt alone on the vast expanse of the Arctic Continent.

With that thought, she took one last look at the distant Arctic wolf and drove away.
