I Get A Random New Occupation Every Week

Chapter 929 Meeting with the Li Family

”Didnʼt we meet last night? Why are you looking for me again?”

Li Jiani looked troubled.

”My grandfather wants to see you.”

”Your grandfather?” Lin Yi was stunned. ”I donʼt even know you very well. Why does your grandfather want to see me?”

”I know this request is too much, and Iʼve already told him the whole story, but he wonʼt listen. Thatʼs why I came to wait for you this morning. I hope you can come back with me.”

In reality, Li Jiani had come to look for Lin Yi last night.

However, because the standards of the Pangu Seven Star Hotel were very high, the rules here were similarly strict. They were not allowed to expose any information related to their guests.

Therefore, Li Jiani didnʼt find out which room Lin Yi was in, and she didnʼt have his contact information. She could only come over early in the morning to wait for him.

Lin Yi wanted to refuse since he felt that Li Jianiʼs request was a little crazy.

She wasnʼt even close to them, so why should he meet her grandfather?

Did he really think that everyone had to pay their respects to him?

However, before he could say anything, Lin Yi swallowed his words.

It was for no other reason than the question Li Jiani had asked him yesterday.

So much so that he had already guessed why her grandfather was looking for him.

He definitely wanted to dig deeper into what happened on that island.

That place was indeed very strange.

The strength of the man in black was so great that even Lin Yi could not deal with him.

If there were no secrets on the island, the man in black would not have appeared there.

For this reason, Lin Yi decided he would meet the old man. Perhaps he could get some information from Li Jianiʼs grandfather.

”Alright, Iʼll go with you.” Lin Yi agreed and turned to Wu Feiyue.

”Brother, go to the hotel lobby and wait for me. Iʼll be back soon.”

Wu Feiyue looked at Li Jiani cautiously. ”Alright, be careful.”

”Itʼs okay. I know what Iʼm doing.”

After speaking to Wu Feiyue, Lin Yi got into Li Jianiʼs car.

The woman he met yesterday was sitting in the passenger seat. After getting into the car, she looked at Lin Yi through the rearview mirror and nodded slightly as a greeting.

After driving for about half an hour, they arrived at the old district of Yanjing.

It seemed to be a forgotten part of the city, still preserving the traditional way of life from ten or twenty years ago, brimming with the lively and bustling spirit of the people.

Li Jiani parked the car and the three of them walked into a courtyard house.

However, when the three of them walked in, two men suddenly started moving in a van diagonally in front of the courtyard house.

”Someone from the Li family is here. It seems to be that kid!”

”Letʼs stay here and keep an eye on him. Weʼll follow him when he comes out.”

”Okay.”

Lin Yi and the other two didnʼt notice the people in the van as they walked into the courtyard.

There were dozens of flower pots of various sizes in the courtyard, but most of them had already withered.

At the entrance of a house was a small stove. Hot water was boiling on it, and white steam was rising from it, giving this courtyard house a little more life.

”My grandfather is inside. You can go in,” Li Jiani said.

”And donʼt worry, my family isnʼt here. Thereʼs only Grandpa and his driver, so thereʼs no need to be reserved.”

”Got it.”

Lin Yi nodded and pushed the door open.

The furniture in the house was very old, but every single one of them was very valuable. Almost all of them could be considered antiques or artifacts.

In addition, there were two people in the room, one old and one young.

One of them had silver hair and was holding a walking stick. He was sitting in front of table and sipping the tea in his cup.

The other man was in his thirties. He stood beside the old man, his expression unrestrained. He was even chatting and laughing, as if they were old friends.

The old manʼs name was Li Xueyong. He was Li Jianiʼs grandfather.

The man standing beside him was called Fu Haisheng. He was Li Xueyongʼs driver and had served him for many years.

”Are you Mr. Lin Yi?”

Seeing you enter, Li Xueyong stood up with Fu Haishengʼs help. ”Mr. Lin, please take a seat. Iʼve been waiting for you for a long time.”

Lin Yi nodded and sat beside the tea set.

”Sorry to disturb you, Mr. Lin. Please donʼt take offense. I just want to ask about something. I donʼt have any ill intentions,” Li Xueyong said kindly.

”Itʼs okay, I donʼt like to beat around the bush. Just say what you have to say.”

Li Xueyong poured a cup of tea for Lin Yi.

”Itʼs a little cold outside. Mr. Lin, have some tea to warm yourself up.”

As the saying went, one shouldnʼt slap a smiling person. Since he was already here, there was no hurry.

Lin Yi took a sip of tea.

Putting aside how good the tea was, this tea set alone was worth a lot of money.

”This should be the Da Hong Pao from Wuyi Mountain, right? It tastes pretty good.”

”Wow, Mr. Lin, you can actually tell the origin of this tea at such a young age. Youʼre really impressive.”

”Although Iʼm a little young, I am well-versed. A cup of tea like this is not a problem for me.”

Li Xueyong smiled and raised his head. He smelled something different from Lin Yi.

Li Xueyong filled Lin Yiʼs cup again and said with a smile,

”Iʼm sure youʼve already guessed it, Mr. Lin. The main reason I invited you here is to ask about Kyokawa Island.”

Lin Yi nodded silently and slowly said,

”You are well informed about Kyokawa Island. Iʼm sure you know more about the situation there than I do. If possible, I hope we can talk about this openly.”

Li Xueyong sized up Lin Yi.

”What do you mean, Mr. Lin?”

”Tell me what you know, then Iʼll tell you what happened on the island. Weʼll make an equal exchange.”

This was the main reason why Lin Yi was willing to come here.

This was because he had already determined that Kyokawa Island was extraordinary. It definitely held some unknown secrets.

However, he had no idea what they were. It would be good if he could take this opportunity to figure out what exactly these secrets were.

Li Xueyong smiled. ”Thatʼs fair. Mr. Lin, tell me about the situation on the island first.”

”From your tone, it seems like you want to benefit without also offering me something.” Lin Yi smiled.

”Although Iʼm younger than you, donʼt play such tricks in front of me. You were the one who asked me to come here today. You have to show some sincerity, donʼt you think so?”

”Mr. Lin, do you think Iʼm not sincere enough?”

”Yes.” Lin Yi didnʼt avoid the question and looked at his watch. ”I have other things to do, so I donʼt have much time left for you. You have to hurry.”

Fu Haishengʼs expression was cold, but because he did not receive Li Xueyongʼs orders, he stood rooted to the ground and did not dare to move.

However, he was very wary of Lin Yi.

”Young man, having ambition is a good thing, but you also need to understand who your opponent is, and at the right time, temper your edge and make the most correct decision. Thatʼs what a wise person should do.”
