Chapter 388: Stunning Suturing Report

After Lin Yi left, Li Chuhan and the other two returned to the consultation room with a pile of documents in their hands.

Cardiovascular surgery had always been an extremely complicated surgery ever since ancient times.

This made it inevitable that such a surgery would require multi-disciplinary experts. If there was a single mistake, it would fail.

At this moment, all the technical backbones and high-level leaders of Huashan Hospital had gathered here.

This was to ensure that the surgery was flawless.

!!
Other than that, there were two men in military uniforms in the corner of the consultation room. They did not say a word and merely listened quietly.

The person sitting at the head of the consultation room was a short, slightly fat man.

The hair on his temples had already turned white. He was at least fifty years old.

The man’s name was Miao Guofeng. He was the director of Huashan Hospital and the top vascular surgeon in the country. He was also the chief surgeon for this operation.

Although Miao Guofeng was the chief surgeon, he was only responsible for part of the surgery.

Diseases like aneurysms were not rare in the country. Therefore, all of them had plenty of experience in treating this.

However, the biggest difficulty was with the multiple phases they would encounter during the surgery.

If one part went wrong, then all the efforts would be in vain.

“We discussed eight possible risks just now. The biggest risk is with the suturing of the artificial blood vessel.”

After saying that, Miao Guofeng looked at Duan Yongchun. “Old Duan, will there be a problem here?”

Duan Yongchun shook his head. “No problem. I have the ability to handle it.”

After getting a positive answer, Miao Guofeng felt a lot more at ease. He then looked at Li Chuhan and said,

“Director Li, the patient’s current situation is not very optimistic. The diameter of the ascending aorta is very large, and the false lumen is also very large. The true lumen is close to closing, and it could rupture at any time. The surgery will be very difficult. Are you mentally prepared?”

“I have already mitigated the risk to keep it as low as possible. Throughout the entire country, no one will be able to better reduce the risk. Even if my teacher came back from the dead, he would only be able to do so much. Please rest assured, Boss, I will do my job well.”

“Okay!” Miao Guofeng said.

“There are no problems with any aspects now. Tell all departments to prepare. The surgery will begin in thirty minutes.”

“Wait!”

Just as everyone left the table to prepare for the surgery, Li Chuhan called out to everyone.

“Director Li, do you have anything to add?” Miao Guofeng asked.

“I think there’s something wrong with the suturing plan.”

“There’s something wrong with the suturing plan?”

As soon as he said this, everyone in the consultation room became uneasy.

Especially the two men in military uniforms, whose expressions became even stranger.

“Director Li, what do you think is wrong?” Duan Yongchun said with an unfriendly expression.

“The preparation of the suturing plan is insufficient, and the suturing method also needs to be investigated. There is too much unknown for a surgery which is at risk of constant fluctuation.”

“Director Li, I have decades of rich experience in the field of surgery. I’ve performed thousands of surgeries of all sizes. Are you doubting my experience and skil?”

“I believe in Director Duan’s ability, but the patient’s situation is very special. It’s very likely that there will be many complications. We should prepare a more precise surgical plan before the surgery,” Li Chuhan said.

Miao Guofeng was a little confused. Duan Yongchun was a top surgical expert in the country. In terms of suturing, even he was inferior to him.

Department Director Li was even worse off.

Why did she choose to question Old Duan at this time?

Could it be that she had a better plan?

“Department Director Li, this is a surgery, not a game. If you question my plan, you can come up with a better plan to convince me.”

Li Chuhan took the USB and inserted it into the computer.

“This is a suturing plan made by a doctor in our cardiology department. I think it’s pretty good. It can reduce the risk by at least 20%. You can try it.”

“Your department’s plan?”

Miao Guofeng’s gaze fell on the other three directors of the cardiology department.

“Which one of you wrote it?”

Cao Jiawang, Liu Yongsheng, and Fan Shufang looked at each other. They didn’t remember coming up with such a plan.

“This plan wasn’t written by the three directors. It was written by a new doctor in our department, Lin Yi.”

“Lin Yi?”

The three directors almost jumped up when they heard Lin Yi’s name.

“Director Li, are you kidding me? Lin Yi just started work yesterday and he has no clinical experience at all. The proposal he wrote is worthless!”

Cao Jiawang was about to vomit blood. What was going through Li Chuhan’s mind?

Was she trying to recommend Lin Yi just because he was handsome?

This was surgery, not a child’s play!

“This was written by a houseman?”

Guofeng Miao’s face was gloomy, and he had a disapproving expression on his face.

What was going on with Li Chuhan? How could hse still have the mood to mess around at a time like this?!

“Director Li, I think you understand the importance of this surgery. I hope you can give me some constructive suggestions.”

“I really think that Lin Yi’s plan is very solid. Everyone can look at the contents of the plan first before passing judgment.”

Li Chuhan stood up, “This report lists a total of fourteen possible sutures, including the risks that we didn’t expect. Different types of sutures are recommended to be used on different tissues and organs. This will greatly reduce the risk of the surgery and the patient’s recovery after the surgery will be better.”

Li Chuhan continued flipping through the PowerPoint.

“He also prepared an animation demonstration in this report. The same issues will have different recovery processes if different sutures are used, so I think this report is more accurate and more suitable for this surgery.”

Everyone in the consultation room was in awe when they saw Lin Yi’s PowerPoint report.

The complexity of the presentation was beyond their imagination.

No one would have thought that it would be written by an houseman if Li Chuhan hadn’t mentioned it.

Everyone’s eyes fell on Duan Yongchun after Li Chuhan went through the contents of the PowerPoint.

He was an expert in surgery in the country, so he naturally had the right to speak.

“This is nonsense. These are all the academic theories, and they’re not suitable for an ever-changing surgery. Those animation presentations were all made up by his imagination, and they’re useless in actual application.”

Miao Guofeng was silent for a long time before he looked at Li Chuhan and said,

“Director Li, tell me your thoughts.”

“I want Lin Yi to participate in this surgery. I know his skill level, and his participation might unexpectedly benefit us.”

“I disagree!”

The person who spoke was Duan Guowei, and he didn’t look too good at that moment.

“Just because he performed an outstanding emergency suture yesterday, you think he has the ability to perform today’s surgery? Isn’t that too much of a joke?”
