Immortality Through Array Formations

Chapter 2695: Chapter 84: Skill and Dao (Part 3)

”This sneak attack is significant; the Bi Fang Tribe members are all donned in Barbarian Armor, armed with sharp blades, fighting until the last.”

”They will also use stronger poisons. This poison is colorless and tasteless, causing flesh to rot upon touch and dullness upon inhalation.”

”Not only are there Second Grade poisons, but Third Grade poisons as well, aimed at dealing with you and Dan Zhu...”

...

Mo Hua used his Divine Sense to form the heavens and earth, deduced human actions, and narrated all the cause and effect he discovered.

Chi Feng wasn’t too concerned initially, but as he listened, his face changed, shocked to the core.

How is such knowledge possible?

Such detail... During warfare, this isn’t a ”directive,” but a ”open-book exam.”

Chi Feng looked at Mo Hua’s fair and holy face, unable to suppress his astonishment.

...

The next day, at 2 a.m, the sky had yet to brighten.

Outside the Shugu Tribe, in the dark mountain forest.

The Danque Tribe members were lying in wait on the mountain, preparing to execute the planned strategy to ambush Bi Fang Tribe before they attacked Danque Tribe.

They divided into two teams, Dan Zhu and Ba Chuan in one, Chi Feng and Ba Shan in another.

At that moment, Chi Feng and Ba Shan, with their team, guarded the perilous spot in the valley.

They all wore Barbarian Armor, wrapping their flesh tightly; beneath the armor was tough leather armor, with herbs smeared on their skin to slow the poison’s corrosive and paralyzing effects.

On the Barbarian Armor, Mo Hua had temporarily applied Wood Formation to absorb toxins.

The ambush location had been carefully considered.

The entire ambush process was meticulously planned.

This was ”open-book exam,” the exam questions had been disclosed in full beforehand by Mo Hua.

Chi Feng, an experienced Barbarian General, had no reason not to prepare thoroughly.

Of course, Chi Feng still harbored doubts within his heart.

Not only Chi Feng, but everyone in the Danque Tribe was confused and bewildered.

”Can warfare truly be fought like this?”

Elder Ba Shan, a big figure hiding in the mountain forest, asked Chi Feng:

”Lord Chi Feng, does Mr. Witch speak the truth? Can he truly have foreknowledge? Though the Royal Court’s Shaman can indeed foresee some fortunes and misfortunes, can it be this detailed? This equates to stripping Bi Fang Tribe bare, and seeing their every secret...”

Chi Feng solemnly looked at Ba Shan.

Ba Shan immediately fell silent.

The surroundings grew quiet, the night wind whispered, and after a while, Chi Feng shook his head, ”I also don’t know... whether what Mr. Witch said is true or false.”

He had led soldiers for many years, encountering peculiar people and hidden Witch Cultivators, even the orthodox Shaman of the Royal Court.

Some high-level figures indeed have the ability to ”divine fortunes and misfortunes.”

But ”fortunes and misfortunes” are merely abstract concepts.

Such divination of fortunes and misfortunes cannot compare to Mr. Witch’s ”oracle.”

Predicting enemy’s attack routes, timing, location, numbers, tactics, movements... all detailed and anticipated.

This ”oracle” was too outrageous.

Chi Feng found it hard to believe.

However, facts proved Mr. Witch never spoke falsely. What he said mostly came true. His deeds were beyond ordinary capability.

Therefore, even if there was only a one in ten thousand chance, it was worth ambushing that night...

Chi Feng said solemnly, ”Do not be distracted, stay vigilant.”

”Yes.” Ba Shan nodded, remaining cautious.

The mountain wind was bleak; time slipped away little by little.

Finally, at the end of 2 a.m, the time indicated by Mo Hua’s ”oracle,” faint traces of human presence emerged from the distant darkness.

After a while, the forest rustled, and a group of Barbarian Soldiers appeared like ghosts and specters.

The Barbarian Soldiers were all lightly equipped, holding sharp blades, well-trained, moving lightly in the darkness with faint breaths.

”They’re here!”

Chi Feng’s pupils contracted, scrutinizing closely, finding this batch of Barbarian Soldiers was identical to Mr. Witch’s description.

The marching time and route were also impeccably accurate.

Though the battle hadn’t begun, Chi Feng suddenly felt a ”familiar” sensation as if he’d fought the battle previously.

Ba Shan was also astonished in his heart.

”What Mr. Witch said is actually true? Can he truly foresee everything?”

”This young-looking Mr. Witch is truly ’exceptionally’ formidable...”

Chi Feng and Ba Shan exchanged a glance, their gazes gradually turning icy.

Days of anger from being ambushed by Bi Fang Tribe surged within them.

The chance for revenge had finally arrived.

Murderous intent manifested like a fierce beast.

A crimson saber tore through the darkness, the Golden Core Spiritual Power like Karmic Fire of Purgatory, instantly beheading several Bi Fang Tribe Barbarian Soldiers.

Then the Trapping Formation for the trap burst forth.

Many Bi Fang Tribe Barbarian Soldiers were trapped by the Formation, stuck in mud or a mountain prison, unable to move instantly.

Danque Tribe’s Barbarian Soldiers rushed forward, hacking them to death.

”Kill! Kill!”

Blood Qi surged, the Danque Tribe instantly got red-eyed with slaughter.

This was a completely unexpected ambush, throwing the Bi Fang Tribe into chaos.

Meanwhile, battles unfolded in various locations.

Dan Zhu’s Vermilion Bird Profound Fire Feather Robe illuminated the night sky.

In the night-shrouded forest, various formations, spiritual power, and blood qi flashed one after another.

Murderous intent shook the mountain forest, the night wind already carried the scent of blood.

Though the parties remained the same, the situation changed, attack and defense, kill and flee transformed.

Mo Hua sat on the beam of the Stone Palace, calmly gazing into the distance, observing from afar.

While observing the battle situation, he was also testing his insight into the ”Three Talents” of Heaven, Earth, and Humanity, and his deeper understanding of the art of cause and effect.

Cause and effect are not ”mystical” science but grounded in the reality of the present world, a study of the Divine Dao combining reality.

Cause and effect cannot exist separate from the present, cannot count in isolation, cannot be learned in isolation.

Cause and effect belong to skill, but ”skill” is indeed merely a ”medium,” a ”bridge.”

Skill can be utilized, but one must not rely on skill.

Skill is like a ”raft,” assisting one to cross the sea of cause and effect and reach the other shore in search of the ”Great Dao.”

The purpose of skill is for the Dao.

Mo Hua was startled, recalling that his master once said similar words while teaching him formations.

The patterns, pivots, and eyes of formations are mere ”forms,” appearances, and mediums for Enlightenment.

One must diligently study and comprehend formations.

But ultimately, the goal is not to be fixated on formations but to understand the Dao of formations and even pursue the final ”Longevity Road.”

Cause and effect are akin to formations; skill and Dao relate in the same way.

The Great Dao is diverse, yet all paths lead to the same destination.

Magic varies greatly, but can be interconnected and comprehended.

Mo Hua’s gaze trembled, his mind gradually becoming enlightened.

He felt that all he had learned, heard, sensed, and thought over the past twenty or thirty years, those disparate formations and spell points, were gradually converging before him, forming the prototype of a path.

A path based on Divine Sense, encompassing myriad spell points, his own Dao.
