Beast Taming: Becoming a Bug-type Elite Four Member Starting with Silkworm Raising

Chapter 72 Source of BonesChapter 72 Source of Bones
After returning to the Insect House, Russell carefully kept the flowers of the Night Orchid in the cold storage.

Although Ayou had been strongly urging him to eat those orchids along the way, corpse-scented night orchid was a rare and rare cultivation material. In order to maximize its cultivation effect, Russell had to do some preparation work first.

Flowers are different from fruits in that the energy contained in them is not so easy to absorb. According to records, the flowers of Night Orchid need to be mixed with other materials to make a composite solution to ensure the complete absorption of the energy in the flowers.

With the help of the ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent, Russell’s pet beast is indeed not afraid of eating up its stomach. However, if the cultivation materials are not properly prepared and the effectiveness is reduced, it will be like eating peonies, which is a pity.

The prerequisite for customized blending is to fully understand the properties and ingredients of flowers, so that the appropriate blending materials can be accurately matched.

However, the bones of the pet beast that the Corpse Night Orchid took root in were severely damaged. Apart from being able to barely judge that it belonged to a beast, Russell could not tell what race of beast it originally came from based on visual inspection.

The only information currently available is that this pet beast had the ability to create physical phantoms during its lifetime.

However, although this ability is rare, it is not exclusive. Platinum-level pet beasts such as Succubus and Black Inspirit may master physical phantom skills when they mature, and Russell does not dare to make a hasty conclusion.

After thinking about it, he decided to ask the Senluo City Beast Control Research Institute to help him with this small favor.

After all, funds are tight now, so it’s good to be able to squeeze out a little bit of wool. These official institutions have great undertakings, and this is not bad.

As the saying goes, there are people in the court who are easy to work with. After several cooperations with the Senluo Beast Control Research Institute, Russell is now a half-familiar face. He directly called Researcher Li Moran.

”Sister Moran, I found the skeleton of a pet beast while doing breeding research. It seems to be of a high level. Can you help me find out what race it is?”

”Okay, but you are doing insect cultivation, not ghost cultivation. Where did the bones come from?”

On the phone, Li Moran agreed to Russell’s request without thinking, but she was a little curious about what bones made Russell care so much.

”I recently bought a new orchard, and a corpse-scented night orchid grew in the ground. I want to detect the species of the corpse so that I can prepare breeding materials.”

Regarding this question, Russell answered very honestly. With the background of Senluo Beast Control Research Institute, no one would care about his small gains.

”Okay, please bring the skeleton over. There haven’t been many tasks in the monitoring department recently, and the results should be available soon.”

Dr. Xia Mu once explained that if Russell had any general needs, the institute could cooperate with him. Li Moran didn’t ask any questions and just asked him to send things to the institute.

…………

Because Ayou kept making noises in the beast-controlling space, Russell, who couldn’t bear the disturbance, took the skeleton to the Senluo Beast-controlling Research Institute that afternoon.

”The skeleton has been sent for testing. The results will be out in about four hours. You can pick it up tomorrow.”

Taking Russell’s packed skeleton into the experimental area, Li Moran gave him a test receipt, saying that the results would not be available until dinner time.

”No, you can go about your business. I’ll wait here for a while and look for information.”

After taking the receipt, Russell pointed to a batch of paper materials he had just borrowed.

Before coming to the institute, he contacted Dr. Natsuki again and wanted to get more internal information about stone crickets.

After all, this may be the main revenue of Omushi House for some time in the future, so we need to be more prepared.

Moreover, the specific formula for preparing corpse-scented night orchid according to the characteristics of different pet beasts is also highly confidential information. Even if Dr. Xia Mu gives permission, he can only print out a paper file and take it away. Russell is too lazy to come twice.

A non-researcher from outside comes here every day. Maybe people think he is pursuing Researcher Li Moran...

”Selection of stone crickets...the relationship between leg shape and impact force...”

After browsing for a while, Russell found that there was quite a lot of information related to stone crickets.

But this is normal. After all, Stone Cricket is also a relatively popular race among low-level insect-type pets. As a pet mainly used for cricket fighting entertainment, its attention is much higher than that of mass-bred production pets. .

However, these materials are basically research on how to observe the appearance of stone crickets and how to stimulate fighting spirit. There is very little content related to cultivation. This has a lot to do with the pet market of Stone Cricket. Fighting crickets will lead to fighting, but no one will directly contract a cricket.

Without a contract, although the lifespan of a cricket pet is three to five years, its heyday is usually only about one year.

In addition, the price of stone crickets is not expensive, so most people’s attitude towards them is to select rather than cultivate them.

”It seems that the business of cultivating stone crickets should be quite easy.”

In an industry where everyone is trying their luck and lacks in-depth cultivation, Russell feels confident that he can occupy this market.

After copying a few materials with some reference value and having a working meal in the cafeteria of the institute, he closed the book and prepared to go home.

At this moment, Researcher Li Moran suddenly came to the lounge and said to Russell with a somewhat solemn expression:

”Russell, our colleagues in the testing department want to see you. There seems to be something wrong with the skeleton.”

Hearing the news, he frowned slightly.

Because of Russell’s relationship with Dr. Natsuki, many people in the institute still know him, and they also know that his main battle pet is a UFO hawkmoth. Does the phrase ”there is something wrong with the bones” mean that it was grown from it? Corpse Fragrance Night Orchid, conflicts with the ghost or insect type?

”Okay, let’s go right away.”

With a slightly uneasy mood, Russell followed Li Moran to the testing room on the second floor of the research institute.

”Hello, Mr. Russell, this is the data we just detected. You can take a look.”

Seeing the arrival of the two, in front of the large analytical instrument in the testing room, a middle-aged man with a slightly sparse head but a serious expression and the temperament of a senior researcher pointed at the screen that already displayed the test results.

Looking in the direction of his finger, a strange figure suddenly appeared on the screen that was as high as a wall.

”Three-tailed night-eyed fox...”

Only after seeing the information about this pet fox with purple-black fur, three long tails, and eyes as deep as the abyss, Russell understood what the so-called ”problem” actually meant.

The reason is very simple, because this kind of pet beast named Three-tailed Night Eye Fox is a ferocious beast just like the pet beast sealed in the secret realm of ”Dreamweaver’s Nest”.

To be precise, the entire family tree of the three-tailed night-eyed fox belongs to the purple-gold level of dangerous beasts.

Unlike most ferocious beasts that cannot be tamed due to their violent temperaments, there are many cases of beast masters taming the three-tailed night-eye fox and its evolved six-tailed nightmare fox.

Whether it can be domesticated is the most important indicator that distinguishes ordinary pet beasts from ferocious beasts. Pet beasts that can be successfully contracted multiple times will not be classified as ferocious beasts.

The reason why the three-tailed night-eyed foxes are still officially defined as ferocious beasts by the Beast Control Alliance even though they have multiple contract records is because of their extremely high probability of devouring their master.

It is said that the loyalty of the three-tailed night-eye fox is even more difficult to cultivate than that of the proud dragon clan.

Due to their superior intelligence and cunning nature, the three-tailed night-eyed foxes will pretend to surrender when they cannot escape, but in their hearts they regard the beastmaster as a tool.

A tool that provides stable resources and protection to allow them to grow safely.

When it is weak, the three-tailed night-eyed fox will show an extremely docile and well-behaved side. It will train diligently next to the beast master. Its performance in all aspects is very consistent with the talents of a purple-gold level pet beast cub.

But once it grows enough to compete with the beast master’s main pet beast, the three-tailed night-eyed fox will hide its evil intentions and make a brazen attack in a certain battle. Even if it suffers serious backlash due to the rupture of the beast master’s contract, it still wants to leave the beast master. control, regain freedom.

In history, most of the beastmasters who contracted such beasts died at the hands of the rebellious beasts.
