Beast Taming: Becoming a Bug-type Elite Four Member Starting with Silkworm Raising

Chapter 202 ”Messenger of Spring” Herd of CamelsFor the pioneering team who are basically terrestrial beasts, the trails in the forest are much easier to walk than the muddy ground.

It only took everyone twenty minutes to arrive at the middle of the Insect Valley.

”A Ming, do you think our journey has been a little too smooth?”

However, during this process, Lu Dahu noticed something not quite right based on his experience in wild hunting.

”It’s a little too quiet here, and it’s unusual for a trail like this.”

Hearing this, Fan Ming nodded, pointed to the forest road where the team was, and raised another doubt.

Hearing what they said, Russell also vaguely felt something unusual about this valley.

Just like Fan Ming said, the road we were walking along was not only smooth, but also very spacious, more than enough for three people walking side by side.

Although plants in dense forests will grow towards the light, forming forest paths edged by giant tree crowns, these areas usually have some low tree species growing or a large amount of fallen leaves.

When exploring the wilderness, this natural path is barely walkable, but it will definitely not be too comfortable.

In some areas where thorny plants grow, a rough-skinned and fleshy beast is even needed to stand in front and tear away the thorns before the beast master can pass.

However, except for some newly grown herbaceous plants, there are almost no obstacles or trees on the roads in the Imperial Insect Valley.

Coupled with the unusual width, overall, it is indeed more like a man-made mountain road.

”According to official records, this area should be, is it another camp for the Fire Thieves?”

Thinking of the possibility of artificial development, Russell frowned and immediately thought of the group of stolen fires that had been squatting nearby.

However, after thinking about it for a while, he quickly rejected this idea.

The alliance officials are currently busy preparing to resist the beast tide, and they really have no time to build production-oriented infrastructure, so they abandoned this valley blocked by mud.

However, this does not mean that the alliance completely gives up control of the surrounding area.

After all, this place is located at the rear of the pioneering front line. Once a large number of members of the Pirate Fire Group appear to cause damage, the entire pioneering operation may collapse instantly.

After initially clearing out wild beasts that pose a greater threat, the alliance will definitely send out some reconnaissance troops with strong off-road capabilities, and they will need to master some basic information.

Judging from the map they provided before, the alliance has basically figured out the general terrain and resource distribution in the valley.

”Excluding the situation of man-made roads being opened, there is another possibility that there are larger social animals living nearby.”

Fan Ming also agreed with Russell’s analysis just now, and added another possibility.

A group of large pet animals repeatedly pass the same route during their habitat, forming this kind of tree-lined avenue that can accommodate several people.

”Large-scale gregarious pet beast? Then the few of us are totally not enough to watch it...”

Upon hearing this, Russell’s face suddenly turned ugly.

Although the size of the pet beast is not necessarily directly proportional to its strength, in most cases, this theory refers to the fact that small pet beasts can also have explosive combat power, rather than that the combat power of large pet beasts may be poor.

After all, if it weighs several hundred kilograms, a simple collision can produce effects that are no less effective than low-level skills.

Not to mention the herds of large-scale gregarious beasts. Even silver-level pet beasts such as stone-skinned wild boar and big-horned oxen. Once a dozen or twenty of them gather together and launch an attack together, it will be enough to scare away many of them. A platinum-level pet that is not good at group attacks.

If there really were a group of large social beasts living in the Imperial Insect Valley, it might take a lot of effort to clean them up.

Before the first wave of beasts comes, if you can’t build basic defenses, you can only give up development temporarily and hide in a safe zone to wait for the impact of the beasts to weaken.

This time, it takes at least half a month.

At that time, more and more people will come to this pioneering area.

After all, the Beast Taming Alliance cannot always block the entry barrier and completely prevent small and medium-sized enterprises and individual beast masters in Senluo City from sharing the soup.

Although the Insect Valley is the pioneering land promised to Russell by the alliance, and most people do not have the ability to intervene, once the people in the surrounding area become complicated, it will definitely cause a lot of unnecessary trouble.

”The situation is not that pessimistic. The social pets are usually not carnivores. If their temperament is not so violent, we can think of ways to move them and even tame them to symbiosis.”

Seeing Russell so worried, Fan Ming quickly explained.

Adjusting his glasses as a sign, he introduced Russell to common social pets in forest areas.

Among the large forest beasts that have a certain habit of living in groups, except for wild boars and buffalo-type pet beasts with bad tempers, races such as deer, sheep or monkeys are relatively timid.

When dealing with these pet beasts, you don’t need to engage in direct combat. You only need to create some noise, or buy some high-level carnivorous pet beast feces and spread them around to scare them into moving overnight.

”I asked the sonar bat to explore ahead first to avoid hitting the guard group directly.”

However, in order to prevent the small probability of encountering a large group of wild buffalo, Fan Ming summoned another mechanical beast of his and asked it to act as the vanguard about 100 meters in front of the team.

Relying on the data connection between the two pet beasts, the scene scanned and observed by the sonar bat can be directly displayed on the electronic screen of Collector 07.

”There seems to be real movement ahead!”

Because everyone had already walked through nearly half of the Imperial Insect Valley, after a while, Fan Ming’s sonar bat found traces of several pet beasts moving ahead.

At the same time, the devil dog seemed to smell something and growled softly.

Realizing that they were about to approach the habitat of the native pet beasts here, everyone hurriedly stared at the electronic screens for fear of missing any information.

Fan Ming’s newly configured gold-level improved sonar bat, in addition to its detection function, also adds special frequency sound waves that can hide its own energy fluctuations.

It kept flying at a slow speed, and with the cover of the birdsong and wind in the forest, the beasts in front did not notice that a strange pet was approaching.

When the distance was reduced to within 20 meters, everyone in the team finally saw clearly the appearance of the pet beasts through the screen.

They were a group of herbivorous beasts that were similar in body shape to sheep, but were larger, with stronger limbs and longer necks.

The afternoon sun was shining brightly at this moment, and while they were bathing in the light shining through the leaves, they stretched their necks to nibble on the young leaves on the branches. Their overall appearance was very similar to the alpacas in the real world...

However, the most eye-catching thing about these camel beasts that appear to be more than two meters tall is that many parts of their bodies seem to be covered not with fur, but with dense leaves.

Among those green leaves, Russell could even see flowers of various colors blooming, which made these beasts particularly elegant and full of fairy spirit.

”This is... Fangcao Camel!” After seeing the wild pet beasts in front of him, Fan Ming, who had the richest knowledge of pet beasts, rubbed his eyes vigorously, and then exclaimed in a low voice.

Seeing that the people around him didn’t quite understand the reason for his excitement, Fan Ming simply called up the pet encyclopedia information stored in the Collector’s No. 07 chip.

Looking through the information in front of him, Russell gradually understood the reason for Fan Ming’s excitement.

In terms of bloodline level, although the gold-level Fangcao Camel is not weak, it is not that unusual either.

What is truly rare is Fangcaotuo’s family tree filled with big bosses.

The alliance’s official bloodline research proves that Fangcao Camel and the powerful crystal-level pet beast Dawn Unicorn, known as ”the darling of the World Tree”, are distant relatives and have a little bit of the blood of the legendary beast.

Because of this, under the basic panel of the gold-level bloodline, Fangcaotuo has a powerful racial talent called ”The Messenger of Spring”.

As the name suggests, the effect of this skill is to simulate a spring environment, promote the growth of various plants, and even speed up the breeding of some low-level pets.

As long as there are herds of camels living there, it will always be like spring all year round, and even in winter it will not be too cold or lifeless.

This kind of effect that can change the surrounding environment can be called a weakened version of field skills.

From a certain perspective, the ”Spring Messenger” skill, which can continuously and slowly improve the environment, is even more powerful than some plant fields that require energy consumption and do not take long to activate.

If it weren’t for the fact that this kind of pet beast is so uncombatant, and the skill tree is almost full of various confusion, control and recovery skills, their level rating may be even higher.

More importantly, Fangcao Camel also has a passive skill called Mosaic Body.

The effect of this skill is relatively ordinary, it can only improve the power of some skills with keywords and flowers.

However, because its body is covered with real flowers, the camel also has an additional ability, that is, it can be highly symbiotic with bee pets.

Having bees flying around you not only helps pollinate flowers and create their favorite living environment, but also helps clean up some nasty parasites.

Where there is a group of gold-level fifth-level beasts living, ordinary middle- and low-level hunting beasts do not dare to approach easily, which can greatly improve the safety factor of honey-gathering for weak beasts like honey pot bees.

Unexpectedly, there would be a group of such rare and practical pet beasts living in the Insect Valley. Russell was also greatly surprised and had already begun to figure out how to keep these camels.

”It feels quite good to plant a variety of flowers in the Imperial Insect Valley, which can be used by honeypot bees to collect nectar in the future, and also attract camels to stay here permanently...”

According to the report, the Fangcao camel is a very delicate pet animal that likes a habitat with beautiful environment and fragrant flowers.

When the development of this valley was completed, he called Liang Kun back from the secret realm and immediately planted many plants with long flowering periods here.

”But logically speaking, Fangcao Camel shouldn’t like living in the woods...”

However, before Russell could be happy for too long, Fan Ming discovered something unusual again.

The middle area of the Imperial Insect Valley is full of woods, with few flowers and grassland, and is also vulnerable to attacks from outside pets. It is indeed not the most ideal living environment for the Fangcao Camel.

Logically speaking, they should live in the open valley hinterland.

”According to the rules we have learned from hunting in the wild, if herbivorous beasts appear in large numbers in places that are not originally part of their regular habitat, there are only two reasons...”

”Either the original habitat environment has changed drastically and is no longer suitable for survival, or... a very ferocious carnivorous beast has appeared nearby, forcing them to move and avoid.”

After analyzing it, Fan Ming wrote and drew on paper, and finally came to a conclusion that was not conducive to the pioneering action.

”Looking at the weather in the valley, there has been basically no change during this period, so the probability of the second scenario is relatively high.”

His words had made Russell frown again. However, after a pause, Fan Ming went one step further.

However, although his words are not very pleasant to listen to, they are indeed based on scientific theories.

A large gold-level social pet consumes a large amount of food resources every day.

Moreover, after all, pet beasts are not ordinary creatures in this world. They also have the most basic energy intake threshold for daily food. You cannot just find a piece of grass wherever you go and you will be full.

In addition, forest areas do not have rainy and dry seasons like grasslands, and they need to migrate back and forth, so their living ranges are often relatively stable.

Furthermore, although Fangcao Camel has a good temper, as a social gold-level pet, they are not the ones to be bullied.

Even if they don’t master any high-level attack skills, with the fifth-level energy level and the numerical advantage of a group of more than ten animals, even the sixth-level pet beasts will have to temporarily avoid the edge under a volley of magic flowers and leaves.

The reason behind allowing a group of camels to leave the open area deep in the Insect Valley must not be too simple.

”Could it be that there is a high-level pet beast entrenched in the valley...?”

After listening to Fan Ming’s analysis, Russell’s face became even more ugly.

If the reasoning just now turns out to be true, I am afraid that choosing this valley as a development site will be a huge pitfall for Omushiya to participate in the development operation.

Although the strength of the pioneering team is indeed good, the average strength of everyone has reached the fourth level, and with the support of He Qiuer who is in the early stage of the fifth level, hunting the fifth level pet beast can be said to be easy.

Even if you encounter a lone sixth-level pet beast, as long as you have some advantages in attributes and time and place, you can still give it a try.

But if there was a seventh-level pet beast entrenched deep in the valley, then Russell wouldn’t have the slightest idea of confrontation.

The gap between the sixth level and the seventh level is a very obvious dividing line in the distribution of pet beast strength.

Pet beasts of level seven or above can be officially called high-level pet beasts, which belong to the absolute high-end combat power in the world of beast control.

Unless there is an extremely serious relationship of resistance and restraint between the two parties in the battle, the sixth-level pet beast will not be able to fight in front of the seventh-level pet beast. If it can be killed without being killed in one blow, it will be considered a success.

It would be completely suicidal to challenge a pet beast of seventh level or above with a group of mid-level fourth-level beast masters mixed with individual fifth-level beastmasters.

If the Insect House Development Team cannot deal with the native pet beasts in the valley by themselves, Russell will have no choice but to apply for assistance from the alliance officials.

Considering how important he is to Senluo City, it is not a big problem to recruit a high-level beast master.

However, the combat power of the Beast Taming Alliance is so tight now. For things like the expansion of the Insect Taming House, which are not urgent matters, if you want to apply for the assistance of a high-level Beast Taming Master, you may have to wait in line for a long time.

”Hey... there’s no point in worrying about it. No matter what the situation is, you have to confirm it with your own eyes!”

Feeling that the more he analyzed, the more disadvantageous it would be to his side. Russell simply changed his mind and asked several teammates to carefully avoid the habitat of the camel and continue to explore deeper into the valley. (End of chapter)
