Beast Taming: Becoming a Bug-type Elite Four Member Starting with Silkworm Raising

Chapter 203 Black Wind GriffinAs the pioneering team moved forward, the nearby environment gradually changed from woods to open grassland as Fan Ming said.

However, in this area covered with verdant herbaceous plants and flowers of all colors blooming at a glance, no one saw any signs of animal activity.

This also proves from the side that the depths of the valley were originally more suitable for the camel group to live, and they were indeed driven out of the valley by something.

”Don’t let me pick you into a big hole...”

Although it can now be determined that there must be a powerful pet beast in the valley, the specific situation is still unclear. Russell can only pray silently in his heart.

After all, the alliance officials had cleaned up this area before, so we shouldn’t be so unlucky. There really is a high-level pet beast that hasn’t been discovered...

The area of the valley is not too big. Just when Russell was depressed, everyone had already reached the hinterland of the valley where the rock walls could be seen.

”Watch out for concealment!”

At this moment, Lu Dahu suddenly waved his hand back, and then lowered his voice and said nervously.

As the captain of the Black Tiger Team, Lu Dahu had higher command authority than Russell when exploring the wilderness. After hearing this, everyone quickly leaned down and tried to hide their bodies among the surrounding shrubs and grass blades that were half a person tall.

In order not to expose the target, Fan Ming also took back the beast-controlling space of the larger and more conspicuous Collector 07.

”Look in that direction...”

After continuing to observe for a while, Lu Dahu turned around carefully and handed the telescope to Russell.

Taking the telescope, he looked in the direction Lu Dahu pointed, and sure enough, he saw a huge black figure in the sky not far ahead.

”With gryphon-like pet beasts, it seems we are really unlucky...”

After seeing clearly the pet beast entrenched deep in the valley, Russell sighed helplessly.

Although Fan Ming was worried about being discovered by wild pets, he did not let the modified sonar bat scan them, but Russell could easily recognize their identities from their distinctive appearance.

This huge black pet beast soaring above the rock walls of the valley is the platinum-level pet beast ”Black Wind Griffin” with dual attributes of evil and wind.

The gryphon is a special creature between beasts and birds. It has the head, claws and wings of a raptor, but its main body is as strong and powerful as a lion.

Strictly speaking, Yan Songbai’s storm-winged lion beast also belongs to the category of griffin pets.

Because they have the advantages of both beasts and raptors, and their flying abilities are quite good, there are almost no races lower than the platinum level in terms of the bloodline level of gryphons.

Compared with the Purple-Gold Level Storm Winged Lion Beast, the Black Wind Griffin is inferior in strength. Their main attack method is not to manipulate the storm to tear apart the opponent in a wide range, but various evil skills that need to be used at close range.

However, just because it is weaker than the purple-gold-level gryphon pet beast, it does not necessarily mean that the black wind gryphon is really easy to deal with.

As platinum-level pet beasts, their minimum strength is above level six when they reach adulthood. Slightly stronger individuals in the group are expected to advance to level seven and enter the threshold of high-level pet beasts.

If this black wind gryphon is the leader of this forest area and its strength has really reached the seventh level, although Russell is very reluctant, he can only retreat temporarily and wait for the alliance to send high-level beast masters to help.

However, the population strength of the Black Wind Gryphon is just stuck at the watershed between the sixth and seventh levels. It seems a bit too casual to give up the rare pioneering action just by looking at it from a distance.

”Ayou, please approach that area carefully and feel it...”

After thinking about it, Russell decided to let Ayou, who was relatively light in stature and looked similar to the pet butterfly beast in the valley, go out to inquire about the situation.

”I’ll still come.”

But at this moment, He Qiuer, who had said little along the way, suddenly stood up and stopped Russell’s actions.

In the secret realm of the Crystal Garden, she had fought against Russell before, and knew that Ayou was very proficient in shadow control and could use shadows to achieve a near-invisibility effect.

However, this area is full of herbaceous plants and trees are very sparse, and there is no shade for Ayou to hide.

In addition, the sun is shining brightly at this moment, and the shadow energy condensed under this situation will not only make it impossible to hide the figure, but may also expose one’s whereabouts more easily.

Therefore, He Qiuer took the initiative to investigate the true strength of this black wind griffon.

Following her command, the snowy owl beast fused with the parasitic Gu spread its wings and quietly flew away from everyone.

The wildcat is a kind of pet animal that is very close to an owl. Almost all species of wildcat have the basic ability of ”silent flight”.

As long as you don’t use energy and use combat skills, the approach of the owl beast is quite difficult to detect.

”There’s good news and bad news...”

Relying on this extremely practical ability, He Qiuer’s ice wild beast brought back a lot of useful information after a while.

”The good news is that the black wind gryphon in the sky seems to be still very young, and its strength has just reached the mid-sixth level.”

As she spoke, she took off a dark, hard feather from the returning ice owl’s claw, and handed it to Fan Ming, who had been waiting early.

Taking the feather of the black wind griffon, Fan Ming took a photo of it with the energy detector he carried with him, and also came to the conclusion that it was in the middle of the sixth level.

With the strength of the Insect House development team, it is quite difficult to defeat a sixth-level pet beast, but if some traps are arranged and the advantage is taken first, there is still about a % chance of winning.

Compared to encountering a seventh-level pet beast that is impossible to defeat, this situation is undoubtedly good and encouraging news.

”The bad news is... there is a nest behind the branches on the rock wall, and there is another Black Wind Griffin inside.”

However, He Qiuer then talked about the bad news she had discovered.

As she spoke, she pointed to a position not far below the black wind gryphon in the sky, signaling Russell to observe that direction carefully.

”...Two sixth-level pet beasts, I’m afraid we really have to go home.”

After adjusting the telescope to the highest magnification, he saw a faintly visible group of black feathers behind the piled branches.

Under the feathers, there are three gray-black pet beast eggs, waiting quietly to hatch between the branches and the adult pet beast’s body.

According to the characteristics of griffins, which spend most of their time alone and only get together in late summer and early autumn every few years to try to reproduce, the other black wind griffon is undoubtedly its mate.

Unexpectedly, there was more than one black wind gryphon living here. In line with the mentality of being responsible for the safety of employees, Russell thought about quitting.

You know, pet animals during the breeding season are often several times more dangerous than in normal conditions.

Once they think there is something nearby that threatens their nest, even if they are inferior in strength to the opponent, the adult beast will rise up to resist and do their best to drive it away from the territory.

If the intruder is weaker than himself, this expulsion is likely to turn into a relentless pursuit.

The two adult sixth-level beasts were still in a ferocious state during the breeding period, and it seemed that they were not something that the pioneering team could confront head-on.

If it really doesn’t work, just ask the alliance official to find another development address. There is no need to risk your life... ”The situation is not that bad. Although the beasts in the breeding period are violent, their weaknesses are also obvious. We still have a chance.”

Just when Russell was considering whether to get up and walk back, Fan Ming suddenly said.

Later, he showed everyone a copy of the alliance’s official research information on the Black Wind Griffin.

The information first introduces the breeding method of the griffin family, which is to lay a clutch of eggs every ten to five years, usually two to three.

However, gestating pet beast eggs is not as easy as hens laying eggs in the modern world. The various talents and skills inherited to the offspring, as well as the energy contained in the blood, require the vitality of the previous generation of pet beasts.

Moreover, the higher the level of the pet beast, the greater the consumption during childbirth.

Crystal-level pet beasts like the Rainbow Ant Queen even need to wait until their mothers are completely dead and share their remaining original vitality before they can begin to hatch.

Therefore, a female pet beast that has just laid eggs will enter a period of considerable weakness.

During the observation just now, Russell vaguely saw three pet eggs in the nest, proving that the two black wind griffons had completed breeding.

After giving birth to a batch of pet beast eggs, the female black wind griffon will undoubtedly be severely depleted. In a short period of time, it can only be regarded as half an effective combat unit.

Assuming that its hard power in a completely victorious state is still at the mid-sixth level, when it is seriously weak, it can only exert its combat effectiveness of the late fifth-level at most.

At the same time, the black wind griffon couple also had to worry about protecting the pet eggs to prevent these crystallizations of life from being swallowed by egg-stealing pet beasts that might appear at any time.

After all, the life energy contained in the eggs of platinum-level beasts is already quite rich, which is a great supplement to many low- and mid-level beasts.

If they could steal a Black Wind Griffin egg, their growth would progress rapidly. Although they would not evolve directly, there was still hope for them to compete for the leadership position in the group.

As long as he takes advantage of his wife’s weakness and the fact that the child has not yet broken out of his shell, the violent male griffon will not be able to attack without restraint.

The ultimate goal of Russell and his team is not to kill them. They just need to make them feel a serious threat, understand that they can no longer stay in this valley, and then move their nests to other places.

”You can really try it, but if it doesn’t work, let’s withdraw!”

After analyzing the pros and cons, Russell decided to give it a try.

Although the method of bullying other people’s wives and children seemed disgraceful, the previous battles between humans and wild beasts for territory had always been cruel, and no one had any objections.

”Dahu, you make some traps around the flying beasts. When the time comes, He Qiuer will be responsible for the frontal battle. We must not hold back.”

Now that he had made up his mind, he no longer worried about the probability of success, but instead assigned everyone their own tasks.

Facing a wind-attributed beast like the Black Wind Gryphon, which has excellent flying abilities, it would definitely be much better to lure it into a small forest to deal with it than to challenge it in an open area.

This is also the main reason why the Fangcao camel group hides in the middle of the valley.

”Are you confident that you can hold down that male gryphon?”

Then, Russell turned around and solemnly asked He Qiuer, the main player of the team.

Whether this expulsion operation can be successful or not, the only beast master in the team with level hard power is naturally a top priority.

If the situation collapses at the first touch, and the male black wind griffon directly solves the immediate trouble in less than 2 minutes and returns to the aid of his mate in the nest, then the house-stealing operation will undoubtedly fail, and the operator will also face the risk of being besieged.

”If you use the berserk Gu insect, you should be able to hold on for 10 minutes. If the trap you set works, and with the assistance of other pet beasts, it should last longer.”

Facing Russell’s inquiry, He Qiuer was still confident in her own strength.

She understands how huge the benefits of exploration are, and it should be quite cost-effective to use a Gu insect rage to exchange for Russell’s trust and respect.

”The action of attacking the lair and disturbing it can only be left to you...”

Hearing this, Lu Dahu turned his attention to Russell.

The Black Wind Griffin’s nest is built on a cliff more than ten meters high. None of their pet beasts have the ability to fly.

However, receiving a salary that is more than double the market price, but asking the boss to take on the most difficult tasks in the operation, this makes Lu Dahu and others a little embarrassed.

”No problem. I’ll let the two pet beasts go together. The pet beast nest cannot be moved. It shouldn’t be a problem to cause some trouble.”

But Russell was quite happy to carry out the task of stealing a house. After all, having a weak platinum-level wild pet as a training partner was a rare opportunity.

After formulating a battle plan, everyone prepared according to their respective tasks.

Since the transportation routes and other infrastructure have not yet been built in the Imperial Insect Valley, Lu Dahu can only use some basic materials to make anti-air traps.

With the help of several teammates, he collected a large number of vines, first woven them into a tough rope, and then hung a medium-sized stone at the end, thus making a simple throwing noose.

During combat, as long as these nooses are thrown out, although the Black Wind Griffin cannot be injured, it can wrap around its wings and affect its ability to fly.

Anyway, it is an impossible task to kill an adult black wind gryphon. All Lu Dahu and the others can do is to delay as much time as possible.

…………

Because there was no way to prepare in advance for a sneak attack on the nest, starting from noon, everyone repeated the work of weaving nooses while waiting for nightfall.

Except for a few species with dark attributes, most griffons have poor vision at night.

As for the Insect House Development Team, whether it is an Ice Wild Beast, a Demon Dog or an Acid Roaring Viper, their night vision is very good.

You have a much better chance of winning against them at night than during the day.

As for the attacks of other nocturnal beasts, there is no need to worry at all, because the pair of black wind griffins have probably cleared away the nocturnal beasts that threaten them in the valley.

”Without further ado, let’s get started after eight o’clock.”

After preparing a dozen nooses, Lu Dahu approached Russell and discussed with him to take action immediately after dark.

After all, their current location is less than 200 meters away from the Black Wind Griffin’s nest, so they can’t camp and cook at all. At most, they can only eat some dry food they carry with them.

Every time we stay in this state for a while, everyone will become more exhausted, and the probability of discovering the male black wind griffin that is constantly flying over the valley will be greater.

Russell also agreed with this and asked everyone to take time to rest after weaving enough nooses to recharge their batteries for the night’s battle.

In the quiet woods, time flies by quickly, and the sun sets before you know it.

Seeing that the sky was completely dark, Russell focused his eyes and said in a deep voice to the pioneer team members beside him:
”It’s almost done, let’s do it!” (End of Chapter)
