Rebirth: Starting with 10 Billion Us Dollars

194: Chapter 194 Ribbon CuttingThe 2015 Spring Festival passed quickly. Chen Mo had a simple New Year’s Eve dinner with his family and, after resting for two days, threw himself into Tianxing’s 5G layout.

He had to push for the technology’s implementation as soon as possible to allow Huaxia’s technology to completely break free from foreign constraints.

On the tenth day of the first lunar month, the entire staff of Tianxing Group returned to work.

In the top-floor office, Chen Mo was looking at the 5G pilot city planning map when Zhang Kai and Li Yue knocked and entered.

Chen Mo looked up.

”You’re both here. Tell me about the situation.”

Zhang Kai reported:

”Mr. Chen, all employees have reported for duty. The Technology Department and Engineering Department have already headed to the pilot cities of Magic City, the Imperial Capital, and Guangzhou and Shenzhen, having finished the final preparations before starting work.”

”At ten o’clock this morning, ribbon-cutting ceremonies will take place simultaneously in several cities. Official leaders will be present, and CCTV will broadcast it live. General Manager Wu’s side at Tianxing Live is also broadcasting it. Netizens are all waiting for the broadcast to start now.”

Li Yue followed up:

”Mr. Chen, the CEOs of Ericsson, Nokia, Qualcomm, and Samsung have all arrived and are staying at the Magic City Hotel. They send people every day to inquire about cooperation, passing on messages saying, ’As long as we can get authorization, we’ll agree to any conditions.’”

Chen Mo nodded and said:

”Zhang Kai, you go to the ribbon-cutting in Magic City.”

”As for the overseas people, leave them out in the cold for a bit longer. We’ll talk after the domestic base stations have started construction.”

”Understood!”

Zhang Kai nodded.

”By the way, Mr. Chen, shouldn’t we set the threshold for overseas cooperation in advance? To avoid squabbles later on.”

Li Yue asked.

Chen Mo looked at Zhang Kai and said:

”We do need to set a threshold. Take this down.”

Li Yue opened her tablet and began recording.

”The minimum single authorization fee is ten billion, paid in a lump sum;”

”Strictly abide by Chinese rules. If anyone dares to steal core technology, cooperation will be terminated immediately and they will be held accountable;”

”Only usage rights are granted; no disclosure of underlying technology, and no interference with the technology is allowed;”

”Priority supply for the domestic market. Overseas base station construction will depend on our progress;”

”The mobile phone authorization fee is 6%-8% per unit. Japanese and American companies will be charged 8%. This is the price for their previous actions against us.”

Li Yue quickly noted it down:

”Okay, Mr. Chen. We will organize the agreement immediately and screen partners after the ribbon-cutting. Those who don’t comply will be rejected directly.”

”Go ahead.”

Chen Mo waved his hand, and the two of them turned and walked out of the office.

The ribbon-cutting sites in several pilot cities were ready. The CCTV live broadcast started on time, and tens of millions of viewers instantly flooded the live room, with bullet comments flashing frantically:

”It’s here, it’s here! Finally waiting for the 5G construction to start, I’m so excited I’m rubbing my hands!”

”CCTV is broadcasting the whole thing, the prestige is off the charts! This is truly a pillar of the nation!”

”Why didn’t Mr. Chen come? I really want to see this legendary big shot!”

”Regardless of whether Mr. Chen comes or not, Tianxing is just awesome, period. We never have to look at foreign faces again!”

”Is anyone else like me, already starting to look forward to 5G speeds? Downloading a movie in a second isn’t a dream!”

”The overseas giants are probably crying. They used to monopolize technology; now it’s their turn to be anxious!”

At the same time, related topics were flooding the internet, with Weibo and Douyin full of heated discussions:

”Come quick to the Tianxing 5G ribbon-cutting live stream! CCTV is broadcasting it, the scene is so lively!”

”Who understands? Foreigners used to have a stranglehold on our communications, and now we’re the first to build 5G base stations. It’s so satisfying!”

”Predicting a wave: construction starts as soon as the ribbon-cutting ends. Tianxing’s efficiency will definitely be ridiculously fast!”

”I beg Mr. Chen to quickly arrange a public beta. I’ll be the first to sign up, I’m willing even if I have to queue!”

”Where are those people who were smearing Tianxing before? Come out and see, this is true Huaxia technology!”

At ten o’clock in the morning, the ribbon-cutting ceremony officially began, and the host’s voice came through:

”Distinguished guests, today we witness together the start of Huaxia Tianxing’s 5G base station construction. This marks our country’s official entry into the 5G era!”

The scene erupted in thunderous applause. A supervising leader walked onto the stage, holding the microphone, and said:

”Tianxing has broken the foreign technological monopoly and stood up for Huaxia technology! Official Authorities fully support 5G construction. We hope Tianxing will speed up the rollout so that the technology benefits every citizen!”

As soon as the leader finished speaking, the live room bullet comments flooded the screen again:

”Official backing! Tianxing is even more stable now, no one dares to cause trouble anymore!”

”Well said! Popularize 5G early and let the whole world see Huaxia’s strength!”

”Thumbs up for the officials, thumbs up for Tianxing. Only a mutual effort leads to good development!”

Subsequently, Zhang Kai walked onto the ribbon-cutting stage and said steadily:

”Thank you to the Official Authorities and the people of the whole country for your support. Tianxing will strictly control quality and achieve full 5G coverage as soon as possible, letting Huaxia technology go global!”

Reporters below the stage immediately surrounded him and asked:

”Mr. Zhang, how long will it take to build the first batch of base stations? Can 5G speeds really reach the global top tier?”

Zhang Kai responded calmly:

”The first batch of base stations can be built within a few days and will soon enter internal testing.”

”Our 5G download speeds, latency, and stability are all world-class. Everyone will be able to experience it for themselves very soon.”

Another reporter followed up:

”Overseas giants are coming one after another to seek cooperation. Will Tianxing’s cooperation threshold be very high?”

Zhang Kai smiled faintly and said:

”There will certainly be a cooperation threshold. We will prioritize partners who are compliant and sincere. After all, Tianxing’s technology deserves to be matched with equal respect and price.”

These words reached the live room:

”Well said! We can’t coddle those overseas giants; if they want authorization, they have to pay the price!”

”Mr. Zhang’s aura is so strong; as expected of someone under Mr. Chen!”

”Base stations can be built in just a few days? Tianxing’s efficiency is GOAT, waiting for the internal test!”

”I beg for the cooperation threshold to be exposed. Firmly handle the overseas giants and let them know our confidence!”

The online discussion was also escalating simultaneously. Some netizens screenshotted Zhang Kai’s speech with the caption:

”Tianxing is tough! Neither humble nor arrogant, this is what a Huaxia enterprise should look like!”

Other netizens joked:

”The CEOs of Ericsson and Nokia are probably pacing around in their hotel rooms in a panic. What were they doing before? When they were suppressing us, why didn’t they think of today?”

”Can some big shot predict how much the authorization fee will be? I guess at least ten billion to start!”

”Ten billion is too little. Tianxing’s 5G technology is worth that price, or even more!”

As the ribbon-cutting ceremony ended, Zhang Kai announced on-site:

”Construction of the 5G base stations has officially begun!”

Immediately afterward, the construction team entered the site. The live room camera focused on the construction scene, and bullet comments continued unabated:

”Start work, start work! It’s so hype, waiting for the base stations to be completed!”

”The workers have worked hard. Once it’s built soon, I’ll be able to use 5G!”

”Looking at the construction team’s momentum, it really won’t take more than a few days to build. I’m so looking forward to it!”

”Seeing this scene, the overseas giants are probably even more anxious. Hurry up and beg Mr. Chen!”

After arranging the matters on-site, Zhang Kai immediately called Chen Mo to report:

”Mr. Chen, the ribbon-cutting ceremony went very smoothly. The live broadcast popularity is exploding, the whole internet is full of praise, and the construction team has already started work.”

Chen Mo’s voice came from the other end of the phone:

”Got it. Keep an eye on the construction progress, ensure quality, and don’t let any mistakes happen.”

”As for the overseas side, if anyone else comes to inquire, just say I’m not available and let them wait a few more days.”

”Understood, Mr. Chen. I’ll keep a close eye on things here.”

Zhang Kai replied.
