Rebirth: Starting with 10 Billion Us Dollars

165: Chapter 165 The Ruble CollapseComing out of the late-night snack shop, the night was already deep. The streets of Jinan had shed the liveliness of the concert, leaving only scattered streetlights and passing vehicles.

G.E.M. Deng Ziqi shook Chen Mo’s hand and thanked him repeatedly, then exchanged a few polite pleasantries with Su Yingxue before getting into her car with her assistant. Both parties waved goodbye.

Chen Mo held Su Yingxue’s hand and walked slowly to the car waiting by the roadside, pulling the door open for her to get in first.

”Today can be considered a fulfillment of your wishes. You heard the concert and met the person.”

Su Yingxue leaned against the seat, a lingering smile still on her face.

Chen Mo smiled, rubbed her hair, and said:

”As long as you’re happy. However, we have to head back to Magic City now.”

Su Yingxue didn’t ask much; she knew Chen Mo always acted with a sense of propriety.

The next day, Chen Mo took Su Yingxue back to Magic City.

For the next few days, besides accompanying several women, Chen Mo did not go to the company. Everything was decided by Zhang Kai and the women.

On this day, Chen Mo walked alone into the private command room on the second floor.

This room wasn’t large, but three walls were covered with professional market monitors. The screens were densely packed with jumping data: USD/RUB, Russia’s RTS Index, brent crude oil, the us dollar index, US stock futures, gold, and the euro. Every curve was fluctuating quietly.

Beneath this calm lay towering waves capable of making one fabulously wealthy overnight or causing bankruptcy in an instant.

Chen Mo glanced at the date in the corner of the screen: December 14, 2014. There was only one day left before the Ruble collapse in his memory.

In the blink of an eye, it was Monday, December 15th.

At 2:00 PM Beijing time, it was exactly when the Moscow Exchange opened.

Moscow is five hours behind Beijing. While it was afternoon here, it was only 9:00 AM there.

Inside the trading room on the top floor of the Tianxing Building, it was quite lively at the moment.

More than twenty traders sat before their computers, staring at the screens without blinking. Zhao Yuan, the head of finance, stood before the main screen, waiting for the dedicated line on the desk to ring.

Suddenly, the dedicated line rang. Zhao Yuan picked up the phone and said respectfully:

”President Chen!”

”Zhao Yuan, are the funds in place?”

Chen Mo’s voice came through the other end of the line.

”President Chen, they are all in place!”

Zhao Yuan reported:

”A total equivalent of 4.2 billion US dollars in margin has been distributed across multiple global financial accounts. 2 billion is in forex margin accounts, 1.2 billion in stock index futures accounts, and 1 billion in commodity crude oil accounts. The leverage has been layered at 10x and 20x according to your requirements. Risk control thresholds are set, and the liquidation lines are kept very safe. There will absolutely be no problems.”

Chen Mo gave an ’mm’ and then directly issued the instructions:

”Start building positions now. First, short the Ruble. The main contract will be USD/RUB. The entry price should be between 58.5 and 59.5. The position will account for 35% of total capital, using 20x leverage.

Simultaneously, short the Russian RTS Index futures. The entry point is between 1000 and 1050, with a 20% position and 10x leverage.

Also, short the brent crude oil continuous futures. The entry price is 68.5 to 69.5 US dollars, with a 25% position and 10x leverage.

Finally, go long on the us dollar index futures. Keep a 20% position to hedge the risk.

Remember, don’t dump all the orders in at once. Build the positions slowly in three batches. Be discreet; don’t attract market attention.”

Zhao Yuan listened while quickly taking notes:

”Understood, President Chen!

Short USD/RUB, entry at 58.5 to 59.5, 35% position, 20x leverage;

Short RTS Index futures, entry at 1000 to 1050, 20% position, 10x leverage;

Short brent crude oil, entry at 68.5 to 69.5, 25% position, 10x leverage;

Long us dollar index, 20% position, build positions discreetly in three batches, no dumping all at once!”

”Good, that’s it. Execute.”

After Chen Mo finished speaking, he hung up the phone.

Zhao Yuan put down the phone and immediately turned around, issuing orders to the traders:

”Listen up, everyone! Execute according to President Chen’s instructions!

Forex group, first batch of USD/RUB short orders, enter the market!

Index group, RTS Index futures short orders, get in now!

crude oil group, Brent crude short orders, follow up!

USD Index group, us dollar index long orders, place them simultaneously!

Everyone, hurry up, move fast!”

Instantly, the trading room was filled with the pitter-patter of keyboard clicks. More than twenty traders operated at once, their fingers dancing rapidly across the keys. Huge orders flooded silently into the three major trading centers of London, New York, and Moscow through cross-border trading channels. Everything proceeded quietly.

For the first half-hour, the market was still very calm. USD/RUB moved sideways near 59.0, Brent crude fluctuated around 69 US dollars, and the RTS Index hovered around 1030 points without any major movements.

Zhao Yuan and the traders waited tensely.

Not long after, the market suddenly moved. The originally calm curves instantly began to fluctuate violently.

A trader was the first to speak up:

”Manager Zhao! Something’s wrong! Selling pressure is suddenly surging! A lot of people are selling Rubles!”

Immediately after, more news began to aggregate:

”Manager Zhao! The Ruble is starting to dive! USD/RUB has already broken through the 60 mark!”

”crude oil has also dropped! It broke below 68 US dollars! The bears are increasing volume!”

”The RTS Index has also collapsed! It’s plummeted over 3% and has already broken below 1000 points!”

Zhao Yuan looked at the jumping data on the screen. Although he had experienced this more than once,

He was still amazed by President Chen’s judgment. Every time it was terrifyingly accurate. All assets were crashing frantically in the direction he predicted, without the slightest deviation.

Zhao Yuan picked up the dedicated line and connected to Chen Mo:

”President Chen!

It worked!

It worked!

It really worked!

USD/RUB has broken 60, the Ruble has plummeted over 3%, crude oil has dropped below 68 US dollars, the bearish trend is completely established, and the RTS Index has also plunged over 4%. All our short positions are now in floating profit, with the account’s floating profit already reaching 18%!”

On the other end of the line, Chen Mo’s calm voice came through:

”Heh, this is just the beginning. Hold the orders and don’t move. There’s an even bigger crash waiting for us. Don’t get washed out by the fluctuations in between, or all previous efforts will be in vain.”

”Understood! President Chen! I will definitely hold firm and won’t move!”

Zhao Yuan replied.

Then he hung up and said to the traders:

”Everyone stay steady! Continue holding the short positions, no closing allowed! President Chen said this is just the beginning; there’s an even bigger market move coming!”

The traders all responded, strictly executing the orders and continuing to stare at the market, not daring to relax in the slightest.

Time flew by to Tuesday, December 16th. At 4:00 PM Beijing time, the Moscow Exchange was in a critical period of mid-day trading.

Everyone in the trading room was staring at the screens. Suddenly, a red emergency alert popped up on the Bloomberg terminal. Zhao Yuan’s face changed slightly upon seeing it.

”Manager Zhao! The Russian Central Bank has issued an emergency resolution!”

A trader in charge of news said:

”An interest rate hike of 650 basis points! Raised directly from 10.5% to 17%! They are desperately trying to save the market!”
