Rebirth: Starting with 10 Billion Us Dollars

182: Chapter 182 Activating Facial Recognition to Fill Security GapsInside the car, Wu Dongju turned her head to look at Chen Mo, who was driving, and said,

”That really scared me to death just now. That man looked so fierce and had a gun hidden in his jacket. If it had actually gone off, I can’t even imagine the consequences.”

Speaking of this, she couldn’t help but sigh and said,

”It’s a good thing you’re so skilled and could subdue him all at once.

If it were an ordinary passerby encountering a desperate criminal like that, they wouldn’t have the strength to fight back at all and could only let themselves be bullied.”

Chen Mo gripped the steering wheel, looking straight ahead, while his mind kept dwelling on what had just happened.

He understood this logic all too well. With his Grandmaster-level combat skills, dealing with a fleeing thug was naturally effortless, but the common people on the streets were unarmed; when they encountered such things, they were just lambs to the slaughter.

Running into this fugitive this time was pure coincidence, relying entirely on luck.

The man was wearing a hat and masking his face, deliberately disguised and clearly evading capture. The surveillance on the streets could only capture footage but couldn’t recognize him as a fugitive at all; they could only wait for the police to slowly investigate.

There was no telling how much time would be wasted, and this person might even commit an even bigger crime.

To put it bluntly, current street surveillance was ’blind.’ It could only be used to pull recordings for evidence after the fact; it couldn’t provide early warnings, let alone automatically identify personnel on the run. The security loopholes were too large.

”It is indeed a problem.”

Chen Mo nodded and spoke up,

”Relying solely on patrols and the police investigating one by one is too inefficient. If a bad person intends to hide, it’s very difficult to catch them immediately.”

Wu Dongju nodded, speaking with deep feeling,

”Exactly. This kind of armed fugitive is too dangerous. With them roaming the streets, no one feels safe.”

Nothing more was said along the way as the car slowly drove into the manor and stopped at the entrance of the main building.

The two walked into the house. A servant prepared hot tea and then withdrew.

In the living room, Chen Mo sat on the sofa, thinking about things.

Wu Dongju sat beside him and asked softly,

”Still thinking about what happened just now?”

Chen Mo nodded.

He originally held a set of Facial Recognition Technology specifically for surveillance. He had intended to set it aside for a while and bring it out when the time was ripe.

However, after the incident this afternoon, he changed his mind. This technology couldn’t wait; it had to go online immediately.

”Yeah.”

Chen Mo turned his head to look at Wu Dongju and said,

”The Facial Recognition Technology I developed earlier needs to be pushed for implementation immediately.”

Wu Dongju was stunned for a moment. She knew Chen Mo had quite a few top-tier technologies in his hands. Upon hearing ’facial recognition,’ she reacted instantly:

”Is it the kind that can look at surveillance footage, automatically identify faces, and compare them against information on fugitives?”

”Yes.”

Chen Mo nodded and said,

”The surveillance we usually use can only record video; it can’t actively recognize people.

This technology is different. As long as we interface with the police’s fugitive database, the moment a fugitive appears under surveillance, the system can identify them and automatically sound an alarm. We won’t have to rely on manpower to go through recordings bit by bit anymore.”

He then continued,

”The thug this afternoon deliberately disguised himself to evade capture, and traditional surveillance was completely helpless against him.

If we had this system, the moment he went on the street and entered the surveillance range, the system would issue a warning. The police could arrive immediately, and they wouldn’t let him roam around everywhere, let alone let a dangerous situation like just now happen.”

Upon hearing this, Wu Dongju’s eyes also lit up.

”This technology is just too practical!

Not only can it help the police catch bad people quickly, but it can also prevent danger in advance.”

She had always supported Chen Mo’s decisions, especially since the benefits of this matter outweighed the drawbacks. Not only could it guarantee public safety, but it could also earn Tianxing Group a good reputation. Whether for the company or for society, it was a great thing.

”I support you fully.”

Wu Dongju said without hesitation,

”Just say what you need me to coordinate, and I’ll arrange it immediately.”

Chen Mo smiled and shook his head.

Then he took out his phone and dialed the number of the head of the Tianxing Group Technology Department.

The call was connected quickly, and the voice of the head of the Technology Department came from the other end:

”President Chen, what are your instructions?”

”Immediately notify the core backbone of the Technology Department to hold an emergency online meeting. It starts on time in ten minutes.”

Chen Mo said.

”Alright, President Chen, I’ll notify them immediately!”

The head of the Technology Department did not dare to delay and immediately agreed.

While waiting, Chen Mo briefly organized the content of the meeting.

When ten minutes were up, the online meeting started on time.

Chen Mo turned on the mobile meeting mode, and the figures of over a dozen technical backbones soon appeared on the screen.

”Hello, President Chen!”

Everyone greeted him in unison.

Chen Mo nodded and then said directly,

”Tonight on the road, I encountered an armed fugitive. He’s a major criminal wanted by the police, fleeing in disguise, and traditional surveillance couldn’t identify him at all.

This incident made me decide to immediately start the implementation of the surveillance-specific Facial Recognition Technology we developed earlier; there’s no need to delay it any further.”

Chen Mo continued,

”The technical team will work through the night to optimize the algorithm to ensure recognition accuracy. There must be no false positives or missed detections. It must be compatible with all models of surveillance equipment on the market, and the response speed must be fast.”

”Next, arrange for dedicated personnel to interface with relevant departments, follow the reporting procedures, and strive for support from Official Authorities. Prioritize pilot projects in busy road sections of Shanghai, League of Heroes tournament venues, and high-traffic commercial districts and residential areas.”

”We must strictly guard the bottom line of privacy. This technology is only to be used for security warnings and fugitive identification. We must never collect information on ordinary people at will, let alone leak any data. It must be legal and compliant.”

”Also, speed up the progress. Within one week, complete the installation and debugging for the first batch of pilot sites and put them into use as soon as possible.”

After listening, everyone understood the significance. This was not just the implementation of a technology, but a major matter concerning the safety of the people’s livelihood.

”Please rest assured, President Chen, we guarantee to complete the task!”

”We’ll start working through the night and won’t delay the progress at all!”

Everyone expressed their commitment one after another. After the meeting ended, they would immediately dive into their work.

Chen Mo closed the meeting, put down his phone, and then picked it up again to browse the news online.

At this moment, the video of him subduing the armed thug was still dominating various trending searches. The heat in the comment section remained high. Besides praising his incredible skills, many netizens were also discussing public safety.

”I hope there can be more security measures on the streets in the future so fugitives like this aren’t running around everywhere.”

”It would be great if surveillance could automatically recognize bad people; we wouldn’t have to be so passive.”

”I really admire this big brother. I hope the relevant departments can strengthen prevention and control to give everyone a sense of security.”

”Ordinary people really have no way out when encountering this kind of thing. We can only count on tighter public security and smarter surveillance.”

”This big brother’s move was so fast and steady. If surveillance could have this kind of capability, public security would definitely be much better.”

”Current surveillance can only be viewed after the fact. It’s too passive. It would be great if it could automatically identify bad people.”

”Thumbs up to this big brother for his courageous act. I also hope the relevant departments take public security seriously and do more practical things.”

”It looks terrifying. An armed thug roaming the streets... just thinking about it makes me feel anxious. Hurry up and strengthen prevention and control.”

Looking at these comments, Chen Mo became even more determined in his decision.

What he wanted to do was not just conduct business and make money, but also use the technology in his hands to do practical things for the people and protect the peace of the region.

Wu Dongju looked at the comments on her phone and said with a smile,

”See, everyone is looking forward to strengthening security. Once your technology comes out, it will definitely put everyone’s mind at ease.”

Chen Mo smiled and didn’t say anything.
