Apocalyptic Wasteland Simulator

Chapter 199 - 194 Rescue
Outside the silent soldier barracks, a chilling killing intent, carried by the breeze, swirled around Chen Pingchuan.Killing could be a slow process, an ordeal lasting hours. Or, it could be lightning-fast, over in a single second.

Chen Pingchuan, an assassin moving in the dead of night, displayed breathtaking speed when facing the guards on watch. In just two seconds, he had snuffed out two vibrant lives.

He gently laid the two cooling bodies on the ground, then flashed like a ghost to the door of the first room in the row of barracks.

Under the pressure of his right hand, the doorknob of the dilapidated room slowly turned. Even though Chen Pingchuan was extremely cautious, a faint CLICK was still unavoidable.

For the first time, Chen Pingchuan, who had never known nervousness, felt a ripple in his heart. As the door swung halfway open, he took the opportunity to slip into Dormitory Number One.

Inside, eight beds were neatly arranged. The Black Skull soldiers were deep in sweet dreams, completely unaware of the impending danger.

Three minutes later, Chen Pingchuan walked out of Dormitory Number One with an easy expression. Miraculous changes continued to surge within his body.

Looking toward the camp entrance, he saw that Gelieza and Liu Haofeng had already changed into the uniforms of the Black Skull guards. He couldn’t help but give their cleverness a big thumbs-up.

Immediately after, Chen Pingchuan repeated the process, taking a few brisk steps to enter the second dormitory. He was beginning to adapt to the rhythm of these nighttime assassinations.

To be honest, the operation was going far more smoothly than Chen Pingchuan had anticipated. There was only a minor issue when clearing out the sixth dormitory. A soldier getting up in the night vaguely caught a glimpse of Chen Pingchuan’s figure, but before he could sound an alarm, he was swiftly eliminated.

Clearing out nearly twenty dormitories took Chen Pingchuan about an hour, as he worked to eliminate everyone without a sound. His meticulous caution was solely to avoid making any noise; otherwise, wiping out a few hundred people wouldn’t have taken nearly this long.

When Chen Pingchuan stood before Gelieza and Liu Haofeng again, his entire demeanor had undergone a tremendous transformation. His four primary attributes were steadily advancing toward the level of a Level Four Genetic Enhancer. In terms of strength alone, he had surpassed the average strength-specialized Genetic Enhancer, reaching forty times that of a normal person.

It was worth noting that a strength value of thirty was the minimum standard for a Level Five Genetic Enhancer, and the typical strength attribute for a Level Six Genetic Enhancer was only about fifty times that of an average person. Aside from those who specialized in a single attribute or possessed special talents, Chen Pingchuan’s strength alone was already progressing toward Level Six.

Just a moment ago, after sweeping the last of the soldiers’ dormitories, Chen Pingchuan had checked his current status.

Perhaps because most Genetic Warriors chose to enhance their strength, Chen Pingchuan’s own strength attribute had increased far more than the others.

It’s a pity. These low-level enemies no longer offer me any significant improvement. Even the growth of my strength attribute is slowing rapidly.

It’s time to farm some mini-bosses.

After this brief mental summary, Chen Pingchuan turned his gaze to his two subordinates.

”Alright, this area is clean now, so we don’t have to worry about making a little noise,” he said. ”You two go to the torture chamber and other areas to deal with the remaining enemies. I’ll head to the female prisoners’ quarters.”

Chen Pingchuan made this arrangement not out of ulterior motives or any designs on the captive women. Instead, he was concerned for Liu Haofeng. This subordinate of his, born from nobility, seemed cunning but was actually quite simple-hearted. He was worried that witnessing the horrific sights in the cells would shatter Liu Haofeng’s worldview and send him down a dark path.

Though they say ”going dark makes you ten times stronger, while redemption weakens you by a third,” Chen Pingchuan had no desire to keep a corrupted noble by his side. He much preferred this foolish boy, who was a little clever but not *too* clever. Keeping someone like that around made him feel secure and at ease.

With that said, the three of them split up and went their separate ways.

Contrary to what Chen Pingchuan had imagined, the layout of the prison block holding the women was quite peculiar, resembling a live-streaming company from his past life. In the spacious area, the women were separated into different rooms according to their physical appearance, and the layout of each room varied wildly.

The side of each room facing the corridor wasn’t a conventional stone wall but rather a large one-way mirror, exuding a cold and oppressive atmosphere.

Chen Pingchuan easily dispatched the guard at the door and slowly stepped into this sordid area. Everywhere he looked, he saw women with haggard faces and vacant eyes, like walking corpses. They either slumped on the ground or curled up in corners, like soulless husks devoid of any vitality.

Seeing this, Chen Pingchuan felt a crushing weight on his chest, as if a boulder was pressing down on him, making it hard to breathe.

He slowly raised his hands. They had appeared fair and clean just moments before, but now, in his eyes, they seemed to be stained with blood.

Is all this really my doing?

Chen Pingchuan was filled with confusion, a hint of pain in his eyes. He stood there, unable to move for a long while.
