Apocalyptic Wasteland Simulator

Chapter 194 - 189: I Only Need to Run Faster Than You to Win
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!Three deafening missile explosions, like thunderous Divine Punishment, roared to life behind Chen Pingchuan.

Fleeing for his life, Chen Pingchuan shuddered violently, instinctively turning his head to look back. He saw three gigantic mushroom clouds soar into the sky from the rear of the Black Demon tide. Their surging shockwaves were like roaring beasts, sweeping madly toward him at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Damn! The simulator must have malfunctioned when it merged with the God of Misfortune’s divinity. Otherwise, why would I be so unlucky? First, a bug in the simulator made me provoke the female executives from the two most powerful factions in this world. Then, because of the simulator, I fell into a deep coma. After finally waking up, I had to play house with the little Lady City Lord. I finally got rid of her, only to die an inexplicable death in the simulated Crystal Stone Mine. Now, I’ve barely escaped with my life and avoided an encounter with Black Demon Number One. But the simulator upgraded again, and the Black Demon tide is chasing me once more. And on top of that, I ran into some doofus blocking my path. I’m being hounded from all sides like a beaten dog.

I’ve had enough of this life! Chen Pingchuan roared furiously in his heart. If this is how it’s going to be, then let this cursed world just be destroyed! Of course, if it’s not the simulator, then it must be the planet’s will playing tricks! Is it trying to cleanse the world of me, the virus-like transmigrator? Is that why I’m so unlucky?

Thoughts spun wildly in Chen Pingchuan’s mind, but as he faced the incoming shockwave, he didn’t dare show the slightest negligence. He quickly crossed his arms and stomped hard, the immense force of his feet gouging a crater in the hard ground as he tried to withstand the powerful blast.

The shockwave rushed forth, carrying overwhelming power. It instantly ripped Chen Pingchuan’s clothing to shreds and completely changed his appearance, leaving him looking like a street beggar.

Compared to Chen Pingchuan, Gelieza and his companion in the distance were also hit by the shockwave, but their situation was slightly better. The moment Gelieza saw Chen Pingchuan take a defensive stance, he had instinctively turned, slammed his giant shield to the ground, and assumed a defensive posture. This reaction was born purely out of his trust in Chen Pingchuan’s judgment; no words were needed.

Hiding behind the giant shield, they weren’t hit directly by the shockwave, but the force still pushed them back repeatedly, the heavy shield carving a deep gash into the highway.

Looking around, as the shockwave dissipated, three huge, empty craters had been blasted into the previously ink-black sea of the Black Demon tide. The terrifying energy from the explosion had completely obliterated the Black Demons’ bodies, leaving not even a trace of dust behind.

At this moment, a King of Black Magic standing several dozen meters tall slowly revealed itself. Its originally imposing body was now missing a chunk of its carapace, and dark green blood gushed from the wound, making it look utterly wretched.

ROAR!

The King of Black Magic let out a long howl to the sky. Its angry roar made the surrounding air tremble. Then, with a speed that defied its massive size, it shot like an arrow toward the missile truck.

Seeing this, Chen Pingchuan’s eyes contracted sharply. It really is Black Demon Number One! There’s no mistaking it!

Information from the simulation flashed through his mind. According to the simulation, the day I encounter Black Demon Number One is the day I, Chen Pingchuan, will face physical extermination.

At this thought, Chen Pingchuan didn’t dare linger for even a moment. Heedless of the sharp pains wracking his body, and without so much as a shout to the others, he broke into a desperate sprint.

Not far away, Gelieza had just caught his breath. When he saw Chen Pingchuan running for his life again, he didn’t dare hesitate. He hoisted the giant shield high in his left hand while carrying a person in his right. The earlier struggles had already consumed most of his strength.

The physical exhaustion was bearable, but the mental shock terrified him. Just a few hours ago, his own speed had been enough to effortlessly outpace Chen Pingchuan; he had disarmed him with ease. But in just a few hours, the abilities and speed Chen Pingchuan now displayed made Gelieza feel an unprecedented pressure. His confidence in completing the mission began to waver.

Gelieza secretly speculated that Chen Pingchuan must have been holding back before, possibly even toying with him. From what just happened, it’s clear that this boy who calls himself a god enjoys messing with people’s minds, loves bloodshed, and relishes the despair of others—he has a twisted sense of humor utterly different from that of ordinary people. If he gets any faster, I’m afraid I’ll be completely outmatched in speed.

It was worth noting that Gelieza, as a Divine Successor, was a top talent among Genetic Enhancers, excelling in both strength and physique. Although he was slightly lacking in speed, he was by no means inferior to other Genetic Enhancers of the same level, with the exception of Genetic Warriors who specialized solely in speed. This just went to show how terrifying Chen Pingchuan’s evolution in speed had been in a single day.

As time slowly passed, several minutes slipped by in Chen Pingchuan’s frantic run. The prolonged escape had made his body show signs of fatigue.

This won’t do, Chen Pingchuan thought to himself. My stamina can’t sustain this level of consumption indefinitely.

Unlike his previous battles on the field, where his Bloody Plunder skill allowed him to replenish his energy by killing enemies, there was no one around to harvest now. The decline in his stamina was becoming increasingly apparent.

Just then, dozens of dark silhouettes suddenly appeared up ahead.

Chen Pingchuan’s eyes lit up, his heart filled with joy. Talk about a godsend, hahaha...

In an instant, he pushed his legs with renewed force. Completely disregarding the fact that this would drastically accelerate his energy consumption, he resolutely exchanged high energy for high speed, shooting forward like an arrow. In his line of sight, he could already see the fleeing convoy of the Black Skull Legion.

Just as Chen Pingchuan spotted the vehicles, the soldiers in the rearmost vehicle of the Black Skull convoy also caught sight of him in their rearview mirrors. A soldier in the back seat quickly rolled down the window, aimed his gun out the back, and, after a brief moment to aim, pulled the trigger.

RAT-A-TAT-TAT...

The machine gun instantly spat fire, bullets raining down the highway.

However, Chen Pingchuan’s speed didn’t drop in the slightest. He would only twist his body to dodge when a bullet was about to hit a vital spot; the rest of the time, he simply endured the impacts and continued his charge. The bullets struck his body, unable to penetrate his tough hide, but the impacts were still painful enough to make Chen Pingchuan grimace, his face contorting.

Inside the cramped vehicle, the Black Skull Soldiers couldn’t use heavy weapons, leaving them powerless to stop Chen Pingchuan’s advance. The distance between him and the last vehicle of the convoy was shrinking at a visible rate.

”Emergency call, emergency call! Skeleton-9 has spotted an unidentified enemy approaching!” a frantic voice crackled over the radio in Jiang Fulong’s vehicle. ”It’s that bizarre kid from the battlefield! He’s approaching the convoy at a speed faster than our vehicles! Requesting backup, requesting backup...”
