[Growth Potential: Excellent.]

[Current Status: On a mission.]

[Current Psychological State: Full of anticipation.]

Chen Pingchuan quietly studied the information on the light screen, then holstered his pistol at his waist.

He didn’t ask Gorzo about his purpose for being there, as Gorzo had expected. Instead, Chen Pingchuan merely gave him a subtle glance and offered an answer that caught the warrior completely off guard.

”The ’trouble’ isn’t important. The question is, are we leaving?” Chen Pingchuan paused, then tentatively extended an invitation. ”Want to join us?”

Gorzo was stunned by Chen Pingchuan’s words. His mind descended into a frenzied struggle.

If I just leave with them like this, then the whole story I concocted about rescuing my kidnapped sister will be for nothing!

To come up with a perfect excuse, one that appeared flawless from the outside, he had burned through countless brain cells. He had even lost a fair bit of hair, strand by strand, in the process. Now, he was suddenly being told that no reason was needed. This not only threw Gorzo’s plans into disarray but also rendered all his painstaking efforts meaningless.

However, if he didn’t go with them, who knew where this boy would end up? From the looks of him, he didn’t seem particularly bright. If the boy left, Gorzo would be stuck suffering in this desolate wasteland. Another year of this, and he would probably go insane.

I miss life on the island... I miss fresh grilled fish and sailing with my companions... I really, really want to go home... ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ꜰʀᴏᴍ novel_fіre.net

Having been away for half a year, Gorzo was beginning to feel homesick. But despite the deep longing in his heart, he knew that the best way to get home was to complete his mission.

But this mission...

Chen Pingchuan was unaware of Gorzo’s complex thoughts. However, from the character card, he had already guessed that this young master, who had traveled from a distant island, was on a mission. Chen Pingchuan knew his own frail body couldn’t handle that kind of trouble, so it was best to get involved as little as possible. He had only asked out of politeness.

But to his surprise, after a moment’s hesitation, Gorzo scratched his head and grinned. ”Let’s go together. I don’t have anything to do, anyway.”

???

Upon hearing this, Chen Pingchuan’s expression turned peculiar, as if he had just heard the most ridiculous story in the world.

Seeing Chen Pingchuan’s strange look, Gorzo subconsciously touched his own cheek, silently wondering. Is there something on my face? Why else would this boy be looking at me like that?

At that moment, Chen Pingchuan finally understood the true meaning of ”unconventional thinking.”

This isn’t just ’unconventional thinking’! The guy is a complete lunatic, totally unhinged!

He was clearly on a mission, yet he took a simple, polite invitation at face value. This was far beyond what Chen Pingchuan had expected.

”Alright then, let’s go together!” Chen Pingchuan sighed helplessly, complaining inwardly. He didn’t bother asking Gorzo if he had actual business to attend to, since he couldn’t explain how he knew about the mission in the first place.

Besides, a certain logic was taking hold in his mind.

Never try to reason with a lunatic. They’ll just drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience. A regular lunatic might be manageable, but a lunatic with superhuman combat skills? Now that’s terrifying.

With that, Chen Pingchuan called Liu Haofeng over. The three of them found a car that was barely functional and started driving back the way they had come.

As the car moved, all three were silent, lost in their own thoughts.

Chen Pingchuan was the first to break the silence. ”Xiaoliu, you said they can’t start my beloved car without the keys, but could they tow it away?”

Facing Chen Pingchuan’s question, Liu Haofeng replied uncertainly, ”Uh... they probably could...”

Chen Pingchuan sighed heavily at the answer. ”Sigh. You don’t think those guys would do anything too awful to my beloved car, do you?”

”Uh... I doubt it. After all, forcing the doors open would damage the armored vehicle’s mechanical components, and the repair costs would be massive. Plus, according to him, the people there are all vicious criminals, but they don’t have any high-tech experts among them. So, we don’t have to worry about that. I guess they’ll just set up an elaborate trap and wait for us to walk right into it.”

”Right, that’s good! Your analysis makes a lot of sense, Xiaoliu.”

The car fell silent once more.

Liu Haofeng furrowed his brow, trying his best to keep a smile on his face. As he stared at the empty road, he felt a wave of pressure from the new companion sitting beside him. He had personally witnessed Gorzo’s incredible skill. Yet this formidable master had been casually invited into their team by his new boss with a simple, polite offer. It all felt incredibly strange. Still, his boss, Chen Pingchuan, sat in the back as if nothing was wrong, just watching the scenery pass by the window. Because of this, Liu Haofeng didn’t dare let Gorzo take the driver’s seat, fearing something might go wrong.

In the passenger seat, Gorzo’s mind was also racing. Since his perfect excuse about finding his sister was now useless, he needed a new reason to stick with Chen Pingchuan.

”To train my body, strengthen my will, and find like-minded companions to punish evil and promote good.” Would that sound like a plausible reason?

Chen Pingchuan looked at his two silent companions in the front seats, feeling an urge to punch them both.

Too bad I can’t. I’m no match for either of them.

He stared lifelessly out the window, then decided to break the silence. ”Erzhuang, where are you from?”

”Raleigh Island.”

”Huh?”

”What’s wrong?” Gorzo asked, confused by Chen Pingchuan’s strong reaction.

”Nothing! It must not have been easy getting here all the way from home, right?”

”It was alright.”

At this, Gorzo seemed to open up. He animatedly began to recount his journey and everything he had seen and heard along the way. As he spoke, he suddenly mentioned a faction that startled Chen Pingchuan: the Mechanical Resistance Army
