Chapter 356 - 217: The Hanged Man Clo?!
Chapter 356: Chapter 217: The Hanged Man Clo?!”The new Black Wall has risen, and Fifth District will begin a month-long Social experiment aimed at studying whether a new type of society centered on artificial intelligence is feasible...”

”Inter-district links in the major areas are severed, and certain areas within Fifth District have descended into chaos. The police have joined forces with the Terrorism Control Bureau and are currently investigating. During the investigation, please avoid traveling to the DEF area unless necessary, and citizens in the DEF area, please try to stay at home...”

”On the evening of November 30th at eight o’clock, the Management Committee of Fifth District was officially established, chaired by Mr. Dick Tang. The Management Committee will be responsible for managing the entire Social experiment, and specific details will be fully announced tomorrow at noon.”

A crack was opened in the car window, letting in the biting cold wind that kept Jiang Shu’s mind continuously alert.

He didn’t like the suffocating feeling inside the car, nor the smell of the air-conditioning, whether it was cold or hot, so even in winter he chose to open the window a bit.

”Won’t you be cold?” Still, Jiang Shu felt the need to check again, looking in Liu Tingruo’s direction as he asked.

A bit of the cold wind continued to blow several strands of Liu Tingruo’s hair, but her face remained expressionless, seemingly matching with her black coat.

”I’m not cold.” At this moment, Liu Tingruo was pondering the several news items reported by Xiao Jia, and thus she responded coldly to Jiang Shu’s question.

The rise of the new Black Wall has cut off all network and traffic connections between Fifth District and other areas. Simply put, people in Fifth District have absolutely no way to contact anyone from other areas.

Under such circumstances, it was inevitable for them to panic, and panic often breeds endless crimes.

Among them, there were certainly those with ulterior motives deliberately creating chaos, while many more were committing numerous atrocious acts under the wrap of panic.

Even now, despite the official statements, in the eyes of most people, whether it’s the Three Major Groups, the Social Sequence, or the Dick Family, their statements lacked credibility.

The sudden war in Thirteen District was exactly like this, erupting unexpectedly after the city was sealed off, and now there was a similar situation resembling a city seal-off...

People in Fifth District were basically skeptical about the official statements.

The simplest example was, without understanding what might happen in the future, stockpiling supplies was definitely the priority action.

The wealthy spent money, and the poor naturally gathered a large group of people, storming into supermarkets and convenience stores to loot rampantly.

Jiang Shu looked out of the car window. A group of approximately twenty to thirty people, swarming like bees, were continuously charging at a 24-hour supermarket and quickly scattered throughout the store.

This was Zone C, still one of the Gun-free Zones, so the mob didn’t use firearms or other lethal weapons but only blunt weapons like iron rods and nunchucks.

The riot control robots set up in the supermarket clearly hadn’t anticipated this situation; merely three or four robots were simply not enough to stop these rioters in their frenzy.

Since this was a Gun-free Zone, these riot control robots were also not equipped with lethal weapons, so they were essentially non-threatening to the rioters.

The street was momentarily filled with noise, the sounds of smashing, and distant siren noises, combining into a chaotic scene that even made Jiang Shu doubt if he had entered another world.

”Has even Zone C become this chaotic?” Jiang Shu frowned, not expecting such a scene.

Lonely City hadn’t witnessed much turbulence over the past few decades; ideally, the citizens’ sense of order should have been shaped to a decent level. But now, the rise of the new Black Wall seemed like a signal, igniting the darkness deep inside many people in Fifth District.

”It might be the shadow of the war in Thirteen District triggering this insane mood,” Liu Tingruo suggested, ”Although the Three Major Groups have been trying hard to suppress news during the war, there are still many rumors spreading around. Like the callous acts by both sides during the war, or the deliberate concealment just before the war in Clo escalated, when it took time for war refugees to be slowly mobilized from the war zones... These inactions killed many citizens in Thirteen District. And the Three Major Groups have never really addressed those rumors directly, so it’s quite normal for such riots to occur in Fifth District now.”

Having said that, Liu Tingruo added, ”Actually, the situation in Zone C now is quite good compared to DEF where gun control isn’t strict or non-existent gun-free zones. There must be numerous underground powers now taking advantage of this to fight over territories and split profits.”

”Clo...” Jiang Shu also sighed deeply.

This guy died very quickly and early, but he seemed to have left a deep impression in the minds of Lonely City’s people, subtly influencing citizens in Fifth District during times like this.

Moreover, speaking of this guy, Jiang Shu thought of that special organization established in First District and Second District by ”Mr. Yaxi.”
