Chapter 285: Chapter 188 Declaration of War (Wait for me, there’s one more Chapter)Jiang Shu drew back the curtains, and the sunlight was somewhat dazzling. Rubbing his eyes, he turned and walked into the bathroom to wash up.

While brushing his teeth, he projected a Simulated Light Screen onto the mirror above the washbasin and flipped through something on ”Thunderbolt.”

Why was there still no news?

A sense of strangeness began to grow in his heart.

It had been over a week since the Thirteen District incident, and in these ten-plus days, the situation had not gradually cleared up but had become even more complicated and confusing.

In the first three days, the police, the Terrorism Control Bureau, and the Three Major Groups had come together and swiftly completed the clean-up operation of the escaping Mutants throughout the Thirteen District.

Subsequently, the Terrorism Control Bureau issued an announcement, stating that while there were still dangers overlooked in the Thirteen District, the situation was generally under control, and the Thirteen District would be unlocked soon. They assured all residents of the Thirteen District to be at ease.

But after that, things went awry.

First, the Thirteen District’s internet was blocked again, and then there were problems with the rail lines surrounding Thirteen District. All high-speed trains passing near the Thirteen District were cancelled, as were the passenger flights overhead.

Since then, Thirteen District seemed to have disappeared from people’s daily lives. Not a single official came forward to explain the situation, responding to the public’s questions with only perfunctory official language until eventually refusing to engage at all, mastering the art of controlling public opinion to perfection.

Jiang Shu spat out a mouthful of toothpaste foam. He turned off the Simulated Light Screen and looked at the person in the mirror, who appeared energetic for having given up work, and pumped his fist as if to cheer himself on, ”From today on, no more being useless.”

Hmm, he had already skipped this week’s Magic Performance, using the excuse of ”not in the mood to perform during special circumstances,” although he also didn’t know what the lockdown of Thirteen District had to do with him. But to speak frankly, skipping work occasionally really was a total relief.

However, such comfortable days might not last much longer.

He glanced at the date today and sighed.

It was already September 10th, and today was the day the film production began.

Because Ray Anderson, also known as Li Yuntang, had unexpectedly given him extremely high praise for his acting, the related training sessions had been condensed into a very brief set of classes.

He had completed these classes, so today was the day the film’s production team officially commenced their work.

It is worth mentioning that, because a considerable amount of time had been saved in various aspects, the investors represented by Li Yuntang proposed a request for the film to be released as soon as January first, aiming for the New Year’s slot.

Clearly, they wanted to capitalize on the audience turnout during the holiday season.

In this regard, Jiang Shu, as the second investor, naturally did not have many objections. His only hesitation was whether he was truly up to taking on such an important role.

He opened his wristwatch and glanced at Wolf’s avatar, which hadn’t lit up since it grayed out, and then opened Du Yuyi’s chat box to routinely send a message, ”Are you free this weekend?”

Looking up, Jiang Shu had been persistently sending this same message every morning and night for three whole days—it was one of the longest ongoing tasks in his daily life.

But Du Yuyi, just like her snowflake avatar, was ice-cold, not once replying to him.

The reason was simple; the last time they had agreed to meet in the restricted zone on a weekend evening, he had flaked.

He had been in First District dealing with matters that evening, and if not for Xiao Yi suddenly quipping after midnight, ”As the Master says: To flake or not to flake? Indeed, [’tis flaking],” he wouldn’t have even remembered.

In reality, he had grown accustomed to entrusting the task of remembering to his four Tablet Spirits, but the four Tablet Spirits...

Believed that Master skimping on such an important event was premeditated, so they unanimously neglected the matter.

So now, he had no idea what the situation was like on Du Yuyi’s end.

In any case, she did not reply to messages, nor could she be found, which always made Jiang Shu wonder if the woman had gone to that so-called restricted zone by herself.

He hoped she was safe.

Hope springs eternal.

”Hello?” Jiang Shu answered the phone; it was Ray Anderson calling.

”Jiang Shu, Jiang Shu, hurry over, the whole crew is waiting for you!” The male voice on the other end sounded rough and boisterous, as if hiding a Husky in his throat.

Ray was about the same age as him, but compared to his solid and steady professional demeanor, Ray’s personality was very lively, making him easy to get along with.

”It’s only eight o’clock,” Jiang Shu checked the time, ”If I’m not mistaken, it’s Li Yuntang who’s arrived, right? So Qiu Wanying is with the crew now as well.”

”Hehe,” Ray chuckled bashfully, but a Husky’s bashful chuckle...

Is a signal of either destruction or construction.

On the first day Jiang Shu met Ray, Ray had knelt before him, tearfully recounting his two long years of unrequited love.

The object of this unrequited love was Qiu Wanying, Li Yuntang’s personal make-up artist.

Thanks to Jiang Shu, he had another chance to get close to Qiu Wanying—a whole several months of opportunities.

Yet every time he saw Qiu Wanying, Ray would deflate like a punctured ball, rapidly losing his nerve and turning into a scaredy-cat, only daring to hide behind Jiang Shu, hoping Jiang Shu would devise strategies for him.

”Ah,” Jiang Shu sighed and said, ”Alright, alright, I’m coming right now.”
