The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 278 - 186: The Disappearance of Isadelle
Chapter 278: Chapter 186: The Disappearance of IsadelleAfter the district was sealed off, the streets of Thirteen District were devoid of people, with uncollected litter scattered messily by the roadside, the entire street no longer bearing its former bustling yet illusionary prosperity, leaving only dilapidation and unbearable reality.

He stood by the pool of blood on the ground and looked up, at the same moment, a shadow flashed past near the rooftop.

Within the analytical display of the Prosthetic Eye, the shadow was reconstructed frame by frame, ultimately forming a human figure.

Height between one seventy-five to one seventy-eight, slender build.

The moment the Prosthetic Eye’s analysis yielded results, the steel wings on his back expanded to their fullest, all the vortex nozzles stretched out, the entire body’s mechanics emitted a low sound, and several red streaks of light flashed across the steel body, then he activated high-power mode.

In just the time it took to breathe, he reached the high airspace near the rooftop, his pair of Prosthetic Eyes quickly scanning the entire building, rapidly locking onto three figures that had entered the interior.

On the forty-seventh floor.

He lifted his right leg, smashing through the glass in his path with one kick before charging straight at the three people in a flying kick, shattering every obstacle in his way.

”Hmm?” At the moment the glass shattered, Devil Wind sensed a crisis approaching from the side and placed one hand to shield the fox behind him, while from the Prosthetic Body of his other arm extended a small metal folding shield. He sank his weight and then surged forward to meet the oncoming flying kick head-on.

”Bang.” The Prosthetic Body and the small shield collided with a loud crash, sparks constantly flaring from the metal friction.

And after the loud noise, the large piece of glass only then seemed to realize what had happened, falling to the ground and shattering into thousands of pieces.

Devil Wind pushed off from the ground, violently raising his body, fending off the man with the half-shattered mask in front of him. He squinted, sizing up the man that had fallen to the ground.

Unrecognizable model of black Prosthetic Body armor, donning two steel wings, the streamlined mechanical body replete with a sense of technological beauty. However, when Devil Wind’s gaze fell upon the man’s right arm, he couldn’t help but frown.

It was a somewhat frail Desert Civil Type One.

Placed upon this body, it was like adding a minimalist line drawing of a horse’s head to an exquisite oil painting of a steed—for Devil Wind, who spent years studying Prosthetics Technique, this was an extreme dissonance.

”Who are you?” Fang Yue frowned; he was certain that he did not recognize the guy in front of him. Yet this person launched an unprovoked attack right from the start...

Wandering aimlessly at this time, and not dressed in the uniform of the police station or the Terrorism Control Bureau, but harboring hostility towards them.

”Are you also a prisoner from the Special Prison?” Fang Yue voiced his speculation.

”Don’t lump me together with those dirty folks.” The newcomer replied gravely, a rasp in his voice, ”If you need a name, then refer to me as ’Rift Walker’.”

Gary’s body flipped a full rotation in midair, then surged upwards again, this time blades attached to his legs, coming more fiercely than before.

However, Devil Wind did not choose to resist with the shield again. He raised his hand once more, the small shield on the Prosthetic Body had transformed into a dark muzzle. In an instant, dozens of bullets poured towards Gary.

Gary did not halt his charge; using his wings to shield his flesh, he pressed through the barrage and directed his flying kick straight at Devil Wind’s neck.

Yet Devil Wind did not react, watching the swift kick come towards him, then pulled a grenade from his person.

A transparent Shield sprang up between the two, blocking Gary’s path, but it shattered upon being hit by Gary’s forceful kick.

But the Shield had bought enough time, as Devil Wind activated the grenade, tossing it at the airborne Gary, followed by a slight noise and-

The grenade exploded, no flames or loud blasts, just invisible electromagnetic pulses surging through the confined space.

Gary’s Prosthetic Eyes were severely disrupted, only seeing a chaotic snowflake pattern on his screen, making the control of his Prosthetic Body cumbersome. So, he made a swift decision, steel wings shielding his surroundings, back against the wall forming a defensive stance.

”Let’s go.” Devil Wind pulled at Fang Yue, who was still standing there eagerly watching the chaos, moving him away while explaining, ”His Prosthetic Body has anti-electromagnetic wave features, but he has too many Prosthetic Body parts, the preset protection level is insufficient.”

”Too many Prosthetic Body parts?” Fang Yue asked in confusion, ”Exceeding the CSI index?”

”Yes,” Devil Wind nodded, recognizing the man’s current state of extreme psychological fragility. He could succumb to Cyber Syndrome at any moment, but as a fellow Prosthetic Body modifier, he felt no sympathy for the man.

Those who fell into mental collapse from excessive modifications didn’t deserve sympathy. It was simply a case of reaping what one sowed.

”Ahh—” Gary, who was propped against the wall, suddenly let out a painful scream, sounding more like a beast than a human.

Those cracks returned, as if the electromagnetic pulse had stimulated the Prosthetic Body, he felt as though his brain was being torn apart, severe pain ravaging him while the subtle sounds of metal friction and electrical currents coursed through his body, continuously tormenting his spirit.

He smashed his fist against the ground, deliberately using his left fist which hadn’t been mechanized. As the sensation of pain came, it brought some relief to his heart.
