The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 272 - 184 Tang... A Smile?_2
Chapter 272: Chapter 184 Tang... A Smile?_2However, mutants of this kind are easier to deal with. Basically, the moment they appear, they are located by the Terrorism Control Bureau, and then a squad is quickly dispatched to eliminate them.

Mutants without a main consciousness can be captured and held in the Special Prison, where they are either eliminated or recaptured without much effort.

The real challenge lies with those B-level and even A-level prisoners, who are smarter and know better how to hide themselves. So far, Jiang Shu hadn’t seen much relevant information.

Not to mention what Clo once mentioned...

Mutants with intelligence.

”Hmm?” Jiang Shu swiped his finger on the screen, his gaze caught by a piece of news.

On July 13th, in the First District, a student-led demonstration took place, which led to a group brawl. Patrol police fired warning shots, causing further conflict, with unclear casualty details.

”Wildfire?” Jiang Shu furrowed his brows.

Had this organization already started such actions? To choose such a time to begin...

Was it because they saw the unrest in Thirteen District, expecting other districts to draw police forces to support?

Still, Jiang Shu felt that with just these students alone, it would hardly cause any real turmoil in the First District. It was the same rationale; those involved with Wildfire had not received support from the Combat Sequences, nor faced a threatening crisis to their own safety. Relying solely on fervent beliefs was useless.

For demonstrations like these, it would suffice to deploy Mechas or use tear gas to disperse the crowd.

At most they might initiate strikes or work stoppages, but that would merely force the Social Sequence to enact laws more favorable to business and commerce, and could not truly change Lonely City.

At least...

To overthrow the government, one must have the power of the Combat Sequence, but the Combat Sequence was largely controlled by the corporate camps led by the Three Major Groups, or serving in governmental Sequences like the Terrorism Control Bureau.

Obviously, these upper echelons would have strict control over the ideological indoctrination of the Combat Sequences, and Wildfire alone certainly couldn’t brainwash Combat Sequences.

Combat Sequences were never about the populace taking up arms; Lonely City’s wars could no longer be won by sheer numbers. A simple X-level Mecha squad could easily annihilate hundreds of ”armed civilians,” and the combat direction developed through the daily training of the Combat Sequences was not something an ordinary person could compensate for with a gun and a bit of courage.

The stability that the Character Card system brought to Lonely City was fundamental, as the enforced division of duties made fundamental systemic changes difficult to achieve.

At most...

It was merely a reshuffling of power.

But a bad premonition emerged in Jiang Shu’s heart, solely because the orchestrator of this scheme was Clo.

What Jiang Shu could think of, certainly Clo could too; the apparent futility of the plan was simply because Clo had deeper schemes.

With that thought, Jiang Shu made up his mind.

He would personally make a trip to the First District, at least to understand what exactly Clo was up to. If possible, it would be best to apprehend him and send him to the police station.

Clo behind bars was the preferable Clo.

The last thing Jiang Shu wanted was such a dangerous individual remaining at large, especially since Clo had never abandoned the idea of trapping him and then recruiting him.

Since their last meeting at the Disciple of Mechanics, Jiang Shu had sequentially acquired ”Optical Invisibility,” ”Spirit Technique,” and ”Paperman Control Technique,” these Derivative Entries. Though they weren’t much related to offense, their combined power far surpassed that of before.

Simply put.

He could become invisible, sneak up and stab Clo, who wouldn’t be able to take it.

During the time in the dorm, Jiang Shu was very aware that, while Clo’s combat value was not low, it was so only compared to ordinary people. Once confronted by a Combat Sequence or someone like Wolf, he could only surrender.

Clo’s self-preservation was practically all propped up by that blind octopus-like woman.

In the near future...

After performing this magic trick, there wouldn’t be much else to do, and he could go check out the First District.

Jiang Shu naturally overlooked both Tang’s matter and the study of performance.

”Alright, if there’s nothing else, Little Ding, you can go back,” Jiang Shu motioned for Little Ding to leave.

Little Ding had rushed back two days before for the magic trick, and now there wasn’t much for it to do, so it might as well return.

Going back was quite simple—the Magic Table had always been in the Fifth District. Just transmit the Paper Card Technique to Little Ding, and it could instantly go to the Fifth District.

However...

Little Ding shook its head, suggesting on the screen: Now that we have Paperman, why not let it secretly protect Ruo Ma? If anything happens, just let the Paperman commit suicide, and we’ll know something happened.

Ding: Paperman: Are you polite?

Jiang Shu stroked his chin, then shook his head, ”No, what if Paperman scares Sister Ruo? They can’t become invisible and if discovered, Sister Ruo will start blaming me again.”

Hearing this, Little Ding scratched its head sheepishly, typing on the screen: Ruo Ma has already found out about me.

Jiang Shu: ”...”

Jiang Shu: ”???”

”You...” He began to speak but then hesitated.

Little Ding just spread its hands: Can’t help it, got to charge, right? Running Invisibility constantly drains too much power, so when Ruo Ma noticed the unusual power consumption, she caught me.

”...” Although Jiang Shu found the explanation reasonable, he still glowered and asked, ”So what did Sister Ruo say?”
