Earth's Greatest Magus

Alongside the growth of the Elysian Tree, Emery observed significant changes within his Magus Domain. The forest trees seemed taller and more robust, their leaves a richer green. The grass, now a lush carpet of emerald, swayed gently in the breeze. Rivers and lakes sparkled with an ethereal glow, reflecting the heightened energy of the environment. The air itself was suffused with the light energy of nature, creating an atmosphere of serene vitality.

Emery devoted an entire day to balancing the massive influx of energy within his domain. He carefully regulated the flow, ensuring that every element harmonized with the new energy levels. Once he was satisfied, he turned his attention to the Elysian Tree standing proudly before him.

With the aid of the VIA system, Emery analyzed the tree:

[Elysian Tree]

[Stage Status – Juvenile Tree]

[Height – 3,62 meters]

As he delved deeper into the analysis, Emery discovered that the roots of the Elysian Tree extended over 30 meters beneath the ground. These roots were not only expansive but also incredibly durable, possessing low-grade Tier 6 material strength. He marveled at the resilience of the tree’s roots, which were almost as strong as his sword.

The Tree had other valuable components, particularly the [Elysian Leaves], which were also classified as low-grade Tier 6 materials. Emery needed additional time to fully analyze the leaves’ functions, but he surmised that they could be used to create potent recovery potions.

VIA provided further insights, noting that as the tree matured, its grade would naturally improve. The artificial intelligence also listed a variety of high-grade materials and methods that could expedite the tree’s development.

These enhancements, however, came at a steep price, costing tens of millions of spirit stones. Despite the high expense, Emery couldn’t ignore the significant 6% increase in his energy balance that the tree had already provided. Determined to enhance his domain and personal power, he was prepared to invest substantially to ensure continuous improvement.

Beyond the immediate changes within his domain, Emery felt a profound connection with the Elysian Tree. Emery believed that with time, he might be able to influence the tree with his will, potentially even using it in battle. Emery had spent more than four days nurturing the Elysian Tree, but now it was time to attend to other pressing matters. He returned to the dungeon to check on his captives, who had been enduring the torturous flames of Killgragah during his absence. The grand magus’s soul appeared to be in a state of extreme exhaustion, teetering on the brink of breaking apart.

Looking at the weary and battered figure before him, Emery spoke casually but with a hint of regret, “I apologize, I was unexpectedly occupied… I shouldn’t have let this happen for so long.”

The grand magus, mustering what little strength he had left, managed to curse at Emery, his voice dripping with venom.

Emery remained calm, “Well… have you considered it? Just give me access to your aperture and this will all be over.”

“NEVER!” the grand magus spat defiantly.

Undeterred, Emery continued his persuasion, he even lied to the man, saying that the Nephilim had considered him dead and that no one would be looking for him.

“LIAR!” the grand magus retorted.

“Alright then… perhaps a few more days will change your mind,” Emery said with a nonchalant shrug. He turned to Killgragah and politely requested the dragon to heat up the flames once again. Though unwilling, the Khaos guardian had to obey their champion’s request.

As Emery left the grand magus to the merciless flames of Killgragah, he pondered over the aperture once more. With his improved balance, he was tempted to forcefully break it open, but he decided to stay patient for now. There was still much to be gained by waiting.

Emery moved to the heart of the mountain, where two separate chambers housed the Khaos hubs. One belonged to Killgragah, and the other to Cthulhu. The latter chamber was currently occupied by his three Academy acolytes: Dillion, Ha Ron, and Kingrig. Each sat in the lotus position, immersed in their cultivation, harnessing the palace’s potent energy to strengthen their spirit.

Not wanting to disturb them, Emery quietly made his way to Killgragah’s chamber and channeled his intent through the Khaos Seeds doors, summoning those he needed. Within moments, the familiar forms of Chumo, Yuria, and Morgana materialized, each stepping through the doors one by one.

The three reported the events unfolding around Golden City over the past few days in great detail:

Yuria began with her findings, noting a significant increase in the number of outsiders entering and leaving the Qin and Croft estates. She identified most of these individuals as Golden City residents. Despite the lack of news from Klein, their spy within the Croft estates, Yuria had noticed several other Karat magus also keeping tabs on the Croft faction’s movements. Chumo who stayed close to the enforcers reported a noticeable spike in crimes, predominantly violent protests, which had occupied the enforcers’ attention, stretching their resources thin. The unrest seemed to be growing, hinting at possible manipulation by unseen forces.

Morgana delivered a message from Magus Rosia about an upcoming council hearing in a few days, with all council candidates requested to join. This hearing could be pivotal, potentially influencing the future direction of the city’s governance.

Emery didn’t like the news one bit, he exited his domain and returned to Terra Palace, seeking an update about the war from Magus Silica.

“From the last update, the armada has just entered the pirate space” she reported.

While Emery was reading into the situation, Ronan came to see him. “Where have you been?” His expression showed clear interest as he added “One of these days, you need to tell me about your secret, you know…”

The Serpent Supreme came to give him news from the Astiel Nephilim: they had sent an ultimatum message, demanding the immediate release of Lady Ishtar.

With a smile, Ronan added, “We shall expect a large number of guests…”
