Earth's Greatest Magus

Tessa led Emery to another section of the vault, where multiple high-grade items were on display, each one more impressive than the last. Emery observed them with awe, his eyes drawn to the unique and powerful artifacts within the rising pillars.

One item, in particular, captured his attention: the [Heavenly Spirit Forge]. This remarkable artifact was one of the rare inheritances from celestial beings, with only a hundred ever made. The Karat faction had managed to obtain two of them, leaving one to be kept in the vault. Its function was to temper a weapon or armor using the user’s spirit energy, with the resulting strength directly proportional to the user’s power. It was a highly sought-after item by any blacksmith grandmaster, and its last known auction price exceeded 200 million spirit stones.

The forge stood proudly, its extraordinary blazing flames captivating Emery’s gaze. The intricate designs etched into its surface glowed faintly, hinting at the immense power contained within. Emery could only heave a sigh, recognizing the value and potential of such an artifact. If only it had been a furnace instead, he would have undoubtedly chosen it. The [Heavenly Spirit Furnace], a similar artifact, was designed to focus on precision rather than flame output, making it ideal for apothecary needs.

As they continued to walk through the vault, Emery’s mind raced with the possibilities. The sheer variety of items on display was overwhelming, each one offering unique advantages and opportunities. From ancient tomes filled with forbidden knowledge to enchanted relics that promised unimaginable power, the vault was a treasure trove of wonders.

The next item that caught Emery’s attention was a familiar arm-sized metal capsule: the [Octopath Traveler]. He remembered how this very device had helped Tessa escape from danger. The capsule, made of nearly indestructible tier 8 metal, was inscribed with ancient runes capable of breaking through almost any obstacle. While not unique, it was a remnant of an ancient civilization, and in modern times, only top factions like Karat possessed such items. However, it required high cosmic energy to activate, rendering it inefficient for Emery’s current capabilities. Moreover, he had his Khaos gate to rely on for escape, making the [Octopath Traveler] less appealing.

Moving on, Emery continued to peruse the vault’s treasures. Each item was extraordinary, with prices easily surpassing a hundred million spirit stones.

One particular item managed to elicit a reaction from Killgaragh. It was a massive, human-sized organ, pulsating with dark flames: the [Black Dragon Heart]. The sight of it made Killgaragh stir within Emery, its thoughts echoing with a mix of awe and desire.

It was a god-level beast organ, preserved in excellent condition within a high-grade glass container. Its sheer presence emanated a powerful, dark aura, a testament to its immense potential. Emery felt a surge of surprise and curiosity upon realizing that such an item could significantly aid Killgaragh in reconstructing his real body.

However, Killgaragh’s sudden halt in excitement brought an unexpected turn. His voice echoed in Emery’s mind, tinged with resignation and frustration.

The dragon’s statement left Emery silent for a moment, pondering the implications. This was the first time he had heard Killgaragh express something that seemed to go against Khaos’s will. It was a revelation that added a new layer of complexity to his situation.

Tessa, observing Emery’s prolonged silence, assumed he was deeply interested in the item. Emery let VIA, analyze the item further, ensuring he had all the necessary information for future reference. The next item that caught Emery’s attention was a high-grade formation tool, the [Cosmic Ascension Compass]. Its intricate design and powerful aura marked it as a rare and valuable artifact, much like the [Heavenly Spirit Forge]. However, this compass had a specific and highly sought-after function: aiding in the successful ascension to the grand magus realm.

Emery marveled at the complexity of the compass, noting the meticulous craftsmanship and the shimmering runes that adorned its surface. He could feel the latent power within it, a testament to its potential. The formation tool was much better than the flag used by the formation master Yord. It offers a higher chance of success and increases the amount of cosmic energy absorbed during ascension.

As Emery examined the compass, Tessa continued, revealing its unique capabilities. “This particular artifact has other special uses. It can absorb some of the cosmic energy during the tribulation and store it. This stored energy can then be used to force someone else to break through into the grand magus realm.”

Emery took a glance at Magus Rosia and Morgana, both of whom had reached the peak full moon magus realm. Magus Rosia had achieved this through a hundred years of diligent cultivation, while Morgana had progressed with the aid of Khaos. The two women showed clear interest in the items. Emery was also confident that, given time, Klea would be able to operate the [Cosmic Ascension Compass] effectively.

Seeing their interest, Emery felt a surge of determination. The compass could be a key asset in helping his allies achieve their full potential. However, he needed to consider all his options before making a final decision.

With a smile, Tessa said, “Think about it… let’s finish the tour.”

They continued toward another section of the vault, which was categorized as “unidentified.” These were items that even the Karat faction, with all their resources, had been unable to fully analyze. Despite this, each of these items had at least tier 7 properties in their materials, making them high-grade and highly valuable.

With VIA’s help, Emery was able to uncover a few more details about the unidentified items. However, unlocking their mysteries often revealed that they were not as remarkable as initially expected. One artifact, for instance, was designed solely to enhance pleasure during intimate moments to an extreme degree. Emery chuckled at the thought. “Should I pick this one…?” he mused, keeping his findings to himself.

After sifting through most of the unidentified items, Emery was taken aback when he stumbled upon another artifact that piqued Killgragah’s interest—a dark stone brimming with space energy. It contained an essence that was a hundred times more potent than the [Void Crystal] the dragon had instructed him to find two decades ago.

the dragon rumbled in his mind.

Emery examined the stone closely, feeling the raw power emanating from it. He was deeply impressed, recognizing the potential boost it could provide. However, he also realized that his current situation required him to focus more on light-based essence rather than dark energy.

Thus, he turned to Tessa and asked, “Do you have any items with a great amount of light essence?”

Tessa was silent for a moment before leading Emery to a particular corner of the vault. She accessed a rune on the wall, causing the elder to gasp in surprise. “Young miss, this one…” he began his attempt to stop Tessa ignored. A hidden display appeared from the wall, revealing its contents.

Emery was taken aback to find a single, ordinary-looking piece of grass floating inside a high-grade container. Even from within its sealed chamber, Emery could sense an immense amount of light energy emanating from it. The energy felt pure and potent capable of affecting his nature core.

“What is this?” Emery asked, his curiosity piqued.

As expected, Tessa doesn’t know much about it as she admitted, she explain the origin of the plant. “This grass was found by the Supreme Magus in a hidden world. At first, it was thought to be a rare tier-9 material, but the light energy essence it exudes is immense.”

The elder nodded in agreement, adding, “Many grand master apothecaries have shown interest in this grass. They were willing to pay hundreds of millions for it, but the patriarch decided to keep it, believing it might be more than just a concocting material.”

Emery examined the grass closely. Its appearance was deceptively simple, but there was a subtle, almost ethereal aura emanating from it. Despite its unassuming look, he could sense a profound and mysterious connection embedded within the grass.

As Tessa explained the item, Emery’s thoughts were suddenly interrupted by VIA’s analysis. The celestial database successfully identified the grass:

[Elysian Tree]

[Rank 17 of the 30 pieces of the Heavenly world tree]

[Stage Status – Seedling]

Emery couldn’t help but be shocked by the information. The world trees were considered primordial beings, highly valued as the primordial wisps. The only reason the Karat faction had not been able to identify it was not only because it was still in the seedling stage, but also because the Elysian Tree was considered extinct long before the human race started to emerge.

While Emery was deep in thought, processing the immense potential of the Elysian Tree, Tessa’s voice broke through his contemplation.

“So, any thoughts on which to choose?” x x x x
