Earth's Greatest Magus

Emery entered the grand reception venue carrying five invitations. one exclusively for Magus Rosia as a council candidate, two for the Terra faction, and the other two from the Zodiac faction. This allowed him to bring along Grand Magus Shena, Grand Magus Lilith, and Morgana, creating an eye-catching entourage.

The combination of their elegant appearances and formidable auras commanded attention. Magus Rosia’s dignified presence, Shena’s dragon-blooded allure, Lilith’s fierce beauty, and Morgana’s mysterious charm formed an impressive entourage that left a lasting impression on everyone they passed.

Walking side by side with the four stunningly beautiful women, Emery’s entrance caused a significant stir. Heads turned, and whispers and murmurs rippled through the grand ballroom. The guests, a mix of noble families, influential magus, and elite figures, couldn’t help but take notice of the group.

Shena leaned closer to Emery and asked, “What do you want to do first?”

Using his spirit reading, Emery could easily locate Tessa among the 5,000-plus attendees. However, he knew it would be unwise to approach her directly amidst such a crowd. Their primary objective tonight was to socialize and expand their network among the Golden City elites.

“Let’s mingle,” Emery replied, a confident smile on his face.

To make the most of their time, they decided to split into two groups as planned. Magus Rosia would greet the faction nobles that the Terra faction had maintained relations with since the time of the great Izta. Her decision to run for the council had raised many questions, especially given Terra City’s current crisis. Rosia’s words of assurance were crucial, and her credibility would be significantly bolstered by the presence of Zodiac City’s top Grand Magus, Lilith, the Dark Salamander.

“I will follow, but don’t expect me to speak!” Lilith said with a cold gaze, honoring Emery’s request.

Emery took a slight sigh of relief. Shena had informed him that Lilith’s compliance was not solely due to King Alduin’s request but also a mandate directly from the Dragon clan elders. His deeds regarding Shen Long had evidently had a greater impact than he had anticipated.

While Rosia and Lilith engaged with Terra’s allies, Emery accompanied Shena to speak with Zodiac City’s allies. These were primarily half-blood factions scattered across the sector. Though limited in number, Emery was enthusiastic about meeting them. His reputation from his academy days, combined with his status as one of the rising stars in the half-blood communities, made him a highly respected figure among them.

Beyond the half-blood community, Emery encountered several figures who were sympathetic to their goal of securing more minority representation on the council. These allies, though not directly affiliated with the half-blood factions, understood the importance of diversity and equity in governance. They expressed their support and discussed strategies to influence the upcoming council elections.

Emery also met individuals linked to his past, including old friends from the academy and those connected to his burgeoning apothecary business. He strategically approached influential figures, weaving through conversations with a keen eye for alliances and potential threats. His spirit reading ability allowed him to pick up on subtle cues and undercurrents, giving him an edge in understanding the dynamics at play.

Despite his best efforts, socializing was not really Emery’s forte, and it was even more challenging for Morgana. She had been following him quietly, clearly overwhelmed by the grandeur and the intricate social dynamics of the event. Noticing her discomfort, Emery decided to let Shena continue while he took a break and led Morgana toward the drink section.

“Here, try this,” Emery said, handing Morgana a glass filled with a vibrant, shimmering liquid.

“What drink is this?” Morgana asked curiously.

“I have… No idea,” he responded with a slight smile.

Emery’s simple remark transformed Morgana’s cold, cautious gaze into a warm, genuine smile. The exchange was a small but significant reminder that despite the opulence and complexity of their surroundings, they were still just themselves—two individuals navigating a world that often felt alien. For Morgana, it was a comforting moment of normalcy amid the overwhelming glamour of the evening.

Seeing the change in her mood, Emery realized how much he had missed these small moments with Morgana. The recent turmoil and the relentless pursuit of their goals had left little room for them. He hadn’t spent enough time with her, nor had he given her the attention she deserved. At that moment, a singer stepped onto the stage and began to sing a beautiful song that seemed to magically lift everyone’s mood. The melody was enchanting, and soon a dozen dancers joined the stage, moving gracefully in sync with the music. Some of the nobles were inspired to join in, and the dance floor began to fill with elegantly dressed couples.

Emery sensed through their bond that Morgana was both amazed and slightly curious about the unfolding scene. It was a side of her he rarely saw, and it surprised him. Driven by a spontaneous impulse, he grabbed her hand and led her into the dancing crowd.

“What are you doing?” Morgana asked, her usual fearless demeanor giving way to a rare moment of anxiety.

The truth was, Emery was just as anxious. His only experience with dancing came from a few basic lessons in his Brittania youth, and he had no knowledge of the intricate dances performed at such grand events. However, he stayed calm and smiled reassuringly at her.

“Just follow my lead,” he said, his voice steady despite his own nerves.

Such words crumbled Morgana’s anxiety, as they carried a reassurance that went beyond the authority of an Alpha. Emery gently pulled her close, placing one hand on her waist, and they began to join the dance.

The dance floor was a swirl of color and movement, with couples gliding gracefully across the space. The music, a lively and melodic tune, seemed to guide their steps.

Emery’s divine senses were sharp enough to mimic and follow all the movements of the seasoned dancers around them. However, it was their close bond that allowed Morgana to follow perfectly. Together, they became the couple that attracted the most attention, turning heads and garnering praise from all around.

Their effortless harmony and striking presence captivated the audience. Many of the nobles and esteemed guests couldn’t help but watch them with admiration and intrigue. The grace with which they moved, combined with their undeniable chemistry, made them stand out even among the most polished dancers.

Among the onlookers were the renowned couples, Vinsier Croft and Victoria Qin. Victoria, in particular, started with a cold gaze, her initial disdain evident as she saw someone else take the spotlight.
