Earth's Greatest Magus

Golden City, the capital city of Beta Quadrant Sector 7, was a dazzling metropolis known as the jewel of the quadrant. Spanning a thousand miles, its skyline was dominated by towering buildings that seemed to touch the heavens. The city was a bustling hub of activity, home to over a billion citizens who filled its streets and skies, creating a vibrant tapestry of futuristic magic and technology.

On this particular night, the city was abuzz with excitement as it hosted a highly anticipated event: an exclusive grand reception. This event had been the talk of the town and the entire sector for weeks, with multiple news outlets streaming coverage and highlighting the prominent noble families and esteemed role models invited to attend.

The venue for this prestigious gathering was nothing short of extraordinary. Held in a newly made construct that hovered majestically above the city, the mega-structure was a marvel of engineering and magic. Illuminated by thousands of lights and accompanied by a dazzling display of fireworks, the structure had been the focal point of the city’s skyline since dusk.

There were a limited 5,000 invitations sent out for the grand reception, with half going to renowned factions throughout the sector and the other half to special visitors. Among those invited were supreme figures and grand maestro artisans, making each invitation a coveted privilege. The attendees arrived in their finest outfits, aiming to make the best impression in this exclusive gathering.

Adding to the excitement was the impending council election, held once every fifty years, which was scheduled to take place in a month. Many attendees had come highly prepared to impress the crowd, seizing this opportunity to showcase their influence and solidify their positions.

From the city below, citizens watched in awe as the spectacle unfolded. Multiple screens across the platforms provided live coverage of the event, capturing the arrival of flying transports as they approached the massive construct. The sight of these magnificent vessels, some more remarkable than others, drew gasps of admiration from the onlookers.

The most expensive, latest model spaceships, worth hundreds of millions glided smoothly, their sleek designs reflecting the city lights. Classic custom flying boats, adorned with intricate carvings and gilded embellishments, added a touch of nostalgic elegance to the scene. Each vehicle garnered massive buzz as the audience eagerly anticipated the figures who would emerge from these impressive crafts.

As the transports docked at the miles-long platform, dozens of Magus staff and Grand Magus security personnel stood ready, their postures attentive and vigilant. The dock itself was a marvel, lined with intricate runes that glowed softly, guiding the arrivals with an almost magical precision.

Multiple devices blinked and whirred, capturing visuals and transmitting them to the giant screens scattered throughout the city, allowing the citizens to feel as though they were part of the elite gathering. The sight of renowned dignitaries and influential figures stepping out of their grand transports filled the air with a palpable sense of anticipation. Every gesture, every wave, and every smile was scrutinized, as they entered the venues one by one.

“That is Lord Eugene Hauten!! He is so handsome!!” The exclamation rippled through the crowd, causing a stir of excitement and admiration.

Eugene Hauten was the second-most highly sought bachelor in Golden City. Not only did he hail from one of the five most prominent families in the city, but he was also a noteworthy young apothecary master and the vice council of the city. His accomplishments and status made him a figure of significant interest and allure.

He arrived at the grand reception, accompanying his mother, a Grand Magus elder who commanded high respect. The two of them made an imposing pair as they stepped out of their luxurious transport. The news commentators eagerly discussed their outfits, praising the haute couture choices that highlighted their status and wealth. As the event continued, several council candidates came into the spotlight. The screens across Golden City featured a mix of old and new faces, each vying for attention and support. Some candidates had invested heavily in media coverage, resulting in polished interviews that showcased their platforms and promises. Conversely, a few candidates found themselves at the center of gossip and scandal rather than positive publicity. Rumors and speculative stories swirled, marking the intense and often ruthless nature of the political landscape in Golden City. Every gesture and interaction was analyzed, with alliances and rivalries subtly playing out under the veneer of cordiality.

However, the buzz created by the politicians paled in comparison to the arrival of highly respected figures. Supreme Magus and Grand Maestros arrived, each one stepping into the spotlight. Their presence commanded immediate attention from the organizers and garnered the utmost respect from all attendees. The aura of power and wisdom these figures exuded was palpable, adding a new layer of significance to the grand reception.

The next major buzz came with the arrival of a well-known luxury flying boat, its golden sails gleaming under the lights. This vessel marked the entrance of the illustrious Karat family, the number one faction and founders of Golden City. The crowd’s excitement reached a fever pitch as ten prominent figures stepped out, each one more renowned than the last. Among them, the beautiful Tessa Karat stood out in her stunning golden dress, embodying grace and elegance.

Their arrival, however, was overshadowed by whispers and gossip about the recent infighting within the Karat family. Despite the swirling rumors, Tessa maintained her composure, greeting the audience with poise and a warm smile before entering the venue. Being the most beloved family with thousands of years of history in building the city, the news about the Karat family’s internal strife generated concern among many other families who had benefited from their assistance over the years. The absence of their patriarch, Rosin Karat, ‘the Old Devil’ at the event, further made them worry. However, the empathy was soon overshadowed by the grand arrival of an opulent spaceship, which surprisingly bore the markings of both the Croft and Qin families.

This magnificent vessel was a custom-made marvel, designed to open its roof and reveal its prestigious passengers in a dramatic fashion. As the spaceship made its entrance, all eyes and cameras turned to focus on it, the air buzzing with anticipation. The two latest popular couples, Vinsier Croft and Victoria Qin, emerged, their presence commanding immediate attention.

Vinsier Croft, celebrated for his military achievements, stood tall and confident beside Victoria Qin, renowned for her outstanding business acumen. Their partnership symbolized a powerful alliance between two influential families, and their arrival seemed almost choreographed as if the entire event had been prepared just for them. The couple stepped out of the ship, holding hands and smiling, their charismatic presence captivating the audience.

As they made their way down the steps, the media swarmed around them, eager to capture every moment. The couple’s stylish attire and poised demeanor set the tone for a lengthy and engaging interview. Their conversation, filled with witty remarks and genuine laughter, resonated with the audience, bringing casual smiles and moments of levity to the grand event.

Just as the engaging interview with Vinsier Croft and Victoria Qin was drawing to a close, a shrieking roar pierced the air, causing heads to snap around in the direction of the sound. The noise drew gasps and exclamations from the crowd.

“What is that!?” echoed through the venue as all eyes were instinctively drawn to a particular part of the sky.

Emerging from the dark night and into the light of the floating construct were not one but two massive flying creatures. The fireworks that had been lighting up the sky now illuminated the majestic forms of these beasts: a golden-feathered King Roc and a crimson-scaled Salamander dragon.

The sight of these Ancient Desolate level beasts stunned the audience. The King Roc’s wings stretched wide, its feathers shimmering with an ethereal glow, while the Salamander dragon’s scales glistened like molten lava, radiating an intense heat. Their presence alone was enough to steal the show, overshadowing all previous arrivals.

The security guards sprang into action, their alarms echoing through the platform as defensive structures hummed to life, adding to the drama of the moment. The anticipation was palpable as the two creatures, displaying their fierce jaws and powerful forms, slowly descended toward the deck. Their mighty wings flapped with a force that sent gusts of wind sweeping across the area, further heightening the spectacle.

As the creatures landed gracefully on the platform, they lowered their massive bodies, revealing the figures riding atop them. From the Salamander dragon emerged two strikingly beautiful figures. One had cascading blue hair, while the other’s long jet-black hair flowed over their matching gowns. The audience quickly noticed the small horns on their foreheads, which revealed their true identities.

“The dragon clan!!” gasped the onlookers in unison.

Dragon bloodlines were known for their prestige and power, and they seldom attended such social events. Their presence alone was enough to captivate the crowd, but what impressed those gathered at the dock was the undeniable aura of strength radiating from the two women. Both exuded the power of the Grand Magus realm, with the stunning dark-haired beauty emanating an aura close to that of a Three Cosmos Grand Magus.

Whispers rippled through the audience. “They are from Zodiac City…” murmured some who recognized them.

However, the crowd’s amazement only grew when the two dragon clan women paused, seemingly waiting for the arrival of three more figures stepping down from the golden beast. Two of these new arrivals were strikingly beautiful magus figures in the Full Moon realm. The younger, with crimson hair, exuded a mystique charm, while the older was instantly recognizable to some: the newly nominated figure for the council, Magus Rosia of the Terra faction.

As the three descended, all eyes were on them. The sight of these powerful and elegant women captivated the audience, but it was the man walking in their midst that drew the most attention. His presence among these four beautiful and formidable women sparked envious stares and whispers of curiosity. The commotion even caused a few of the news crews, who had been interviewing the Qin and Croft couple, to turn their focus to this impressive group.

What started as simple interest quickly escalated into a bigger buzz as the media recognized the identities of these figures, particularly the man in the center.

The whispers grew louder as some started to recognize him “I know him… he is the Savage Acolyte!!”

Golden City, renowned throughout the Magus universe for being the main facilitator for the Magus academy for millennia, its citizens paid special attention to many distinguished academy acolytes. The known savage acolyte was among the most unique and talked-about of them all, especially his known contributions during the most tragic event of the academy.
