Earth's Greatest Magus

Emery returned to the Alvanic palace with Queen Sonhee, the two of them flying swiftly through the air. The journey was a blur of emotions for Emery—exhilaration from his breakthrough mixed with a lingering sense of unease from the recent battle. The destruction of Mo Yan’s domain and the subsequent upheaval in his own domain had left him rattled.

Upon arrival, the queen escorted Emery to a private chamber, a serene and secluded space within the palace where he could handle the aftermath of his breakthrough in solitude.

Emery sat in a lotus position, closing his eyes to fully check on his physical and spiritual condition.

[Law of Nature: 25%]

[Law of Light: 19%]

[Law of Space: 28 (31)%]

[Law of Devour: 9 (14)%]

[Law of Gravity: 9 (10)%]

[Law of Sword: 4%]

[Law Comprehension: 94 (103)%]

[Soul Force: 962 (1085)]

The most significant change was the boost in his Law of Devour, which had surged due to the comprehension he gained from both the devouring incident and the full recovery of his primal core. These attainments filled in the gaps that had been missing since his death on the elven planet and his subsequent rebirth.

Emery’s breakthrough to the Full Moon Magus Realm stemmed from his mastery of the Law of Space, reaching the crucial 30% threshold. This achievement bestowed upon him a substantial boost to his soul force beyond their law comprehensions. Such an occurrence was common among magus who had reached the peak of their realm, marking the transition toward preparing for their grand magus ascension.

In the magus world, the ultimate aim was to reach a Soul Force of 500, a daunting target that signified readiness for ascension to the grand magus rank. Typically, a magus would achieve 30% to 35% comprehension in one law and then spend centuries painstakingly building their Soul Force, striving to gain the additional 150 to 200 points needed to reach the coveted 500.

These numbers, however, did not guarantee a successful ascension. Many magus chose to accumulate more comprehension and gain extra soul force to improve their chances of success.

Some exceptional individuals like Fuxi were able to achieve this through extraordinary means. Fuxi’s success in combining eight different laws was a testament to his unparalleled talent, the use of divine techniques, and a significant amount of fortune. His proficiency across multiple elements set him apart from other magus, showcasing the diverse paths one could take to reach the pinnacle of magical prowess.

For Emery, even though he could theoretically attempt his grand magus ascension with his current stats, he wouldn’t. His objective was an ascension in both light and darkness, which would give him the best outcome of both worlds.

Unfortunately, his recent breakthrough only further tipped his balance to the dark elements. These changes also affected the situation inside his magus domain.

[Domain Size: 85 (110) square miles]

[Energy balance: Darkness 57 (64)%, Light 43(36%)]

The size of his domain had stretched by 30%, and these changes happened so rapidly that destruction could be seen all around the domain.

Emery flew through the air, observing the aftermath, which was most severe on the dark side of the aperture. The landscape was marked by upheaval and transformation, massive fissures marred the ground with jagged, shadowed peaks and ravines split apart.

Dozens of Chizpurs were hard at work reconstructing the mountain range. Their proficiency with earth elements allowed them to mend cracks and rebuild the shattered peaks with impressive speed and precision. They diligently moved massive boulders, reshaped the terrain, and fortified the weakened sections of the landscape.

Emery observed their efforts with a critical eye. He could easily expedite the reconstruction with his own abilities, but he decided against it. This catastrophe, he realized, would likely not be his last, and allowing the Chizpurs to gain experience in managing such large-scale repairs would be invaluable for the future. Their proficiency and independence would be essential in maintaining the stability of his domain.

Multiple chamber within the mountain were destroyed, even his workshop was also in disarray. However, with a simple thought, Emery began to restore order. Furniture and artifacts floated back into place, walls mended themselves, and the overall structure of his chamber reformed seamlessly.

The most significant loss came from the caves housing his [Shadowflame Bees]. Struck by massive thunderbolts during the upheaval, 80% of the bees were gone, and half of the caves had collapsed. It was a devastating blow.

However, there was a silver lining. Twelve of the sixteen queen bees had survived, along with a portion of their worker bees. Emery knew that with the queens intact, the hives could be rebuilt. It would take time, likely a few months, to restore their numbers and productivity to previous levels, but it was not an insurmountable task.

Among all the changes within his domain, the most significant was the ominous cloud gathering in the north. This dense, swirling mass of darkness covered an area of ten square miles, a new and mysterious section that had appeared as a result of his breakthrough. The dark cloud loomed ominously, shrouding the landscape beneath it in an eerie, impenetrable fog.

As he entered the dark cloud, anxiety crept up on him. His heart raced, sensing something immensely powerful lurking within. The oppressive atmosphere pressed down on him, each step deeper into the mist increasing his apprehension.

A mile into the mist, Emery’s breath caught in his throat. He saw them—two glowing yellow eyes staring back at him from the darkness. The aura emanating from its gaze was terrifying, more so than anything Emery had felt, even from the likes of Killgragah or Chututlu. It was a primal force, raw and unrestrained, yet strangely familiar. Despite the savage intensity of its aura, Emery did not sense any hostility.

The beast loomed before Emery, its colossal form as vast as a mountain. Despite its size, it was not a solid entity; its body was composed of the same dark, swirling cloud that enveloped the area. However, its wolf-like features were unmistakable. The most striking aspect of the beast was the ominous-looking horn protruding from its head, emanating an eerie, otherworldly glow.

As Emery gazed upon the creature, a realization dawned on him. This beast was not just the ally that had come to his aid during his battle with Mo Yan; it was the very entity that had shared a particular memory with him, a memory steeped in blood and darkness. He recalled some scenes of him massacring dozens of dark elves.

A name surfaced in his mind

“Star Devouring Beast.”
