Earth's Greatest Magus

The emergence of the Ancient Desolate Beast marked the apex of danger on the savage planet, its presence defining the very essence of its level 7 savage classification. It was the ultimate predator, its awakening triggered by the surging cosmic energies that permeated the swamp area. Emery couldn’t shake the nagging thought that had he given time to delve deeper into the ground beforehand, he might have uncovered its existence and steered their Ascension to a safer location.

As the colossal, 100-meter-high Lizard advanced toward them, its imposing figure cast a shadow over the landscape. Each thunderous step it took sent tremors rippling through the ground beneath their feet, emphasizing the sheer power it wielded. Despite its immense size, its movements were surprisingly agile, hinting at the formidable threat it posed.

ROOOAARR!!!

Though Emery was confident in his ability to confront such a beast, his thoughts were consumed by the safety of his Senior Heorgar and the escalating presence of the phantom creatures, which seemed to grow stronger with each passing moment.

While Emery weighed his options, his attention was drawn to the swift and decisive action of Magus Tobin. Without hesitation, the turtle half-blood launched himself toward the approaching Lizard beast with unwavering determination.

KABOOMMM!!!

With a resounding crash, Tobin’s collision with the creature echoed through the air, forcing the massive beast to stagger backward, its towering form momentarily disrupted by the impact. As the two adversaries clashed, a fierce battle erupted, the sounds of roaring and fighting filling the air.

Magus Tobin has made his choice, hence Emery redirected his focus to the other imminent threats that surrounded them. His priority shifted to the phantom creatures that had managed to breach the formation barrier, their incorporeal forms wreaking havoc upon the surrounding area.

With a quick observation, Emery noted a troubling development—the effectiveness of his [Elysian Flora] walls seemed to be waning. The glowing pollen that once burst forth from the flowers now appeared less potent against the resilient phantom creatures. To make matters worse, these ethereal beings demonstrated a remarkable ability to regenerate, their spectral forms reconstituting themselves even after sustaining damage.

Emery swiftly drew his [Light Saber] and sliced through the nearest phantom, its ethereal form dissipating into a fine mist of ashes. Using his spirit reading, he confirmed its demise and realized that light remained the most effective weapon against these spectral creatures. However, he understood that a stronger force was needed to combat the resilient phantoms.

His mind raced with strategies to eliminate the phantoms without disrupting the ascension process. With a decisive gesture, he raised both arms and concentrated his light energy, preparing to unleash his most powerfull tier 5 [Ray of Light] spell. Instead of immediately releasing the spell, he channeled it into a single concentrated beam, its brilliance intensifying with each passing moment.

“BREAK!!!”

With a commanding shout, Emery directed the spell to fragment into multiple smaller rays. Each beam streaked outwards, guided by Emery’s precise spirit reading control, and targeted the phantoms that breached the Flora walls. In a dazzling display of light and power, the rays obliterated the spectral creatures with unparalleled efficiency, ensuring the safety of the ascension process.

“Amazing!” exclaimed Magus Beatrice.

As the combined efforts of Emery’s light spell and Twik’s flora walls held back the relentless tide of phantom creatures, a sense of relief washed over the group. However, their respite was short-lived as a loud crack echoed through the air, drawing their attention to the outer formation barrier.

Emery observed a massive fissure forming on the once-solid barrier.

With Magus Tobin fully engaged in combat against the colossal Ancient Desolate beast, the remaining beast had roamed free. One surviving desolate beast, joined by a newcomer, unleashed a relentless barrage upon the barrier, their combined strength threatening to breach its defenses.

“My formation!!! Stop them!!” the old formation master urgently commanded.

Emery, consumed by his task of controlling the light spells, could only watch as a section of the barrier crumbled before their eyes.

Twelve of the thirty-six rocks that made up the first layer of the barrier shattered, allowing the beasts to breach the defenses and advance closer, encroaching within a half-mile diameter of their location. The situation grew increasingly dire with each passing moment.

As Magus Beatrice leaped into battle against one of the desolate beasts, Emery turned his attention to the old formation master “If you are not going to help, more of the barrier will be destroyed.”

However, the old Magus responded with stubborn defiance, displaying a childlike demeanor. “Huh, I don’t care!! I will make sure Heorgar reimburses them all!!” he retorted, seemingly indifferent to the escalating crisis.

Emery sighed deeply, but before he could intercede further, Magus Heorgar’s booming voice cut through the chaos.

“COME AT ME!!”

The lightning bolt ceased its assault, and Heorgar outstretched his arms wide. In a mesmerizing display, dozens of phantom creatures were drawn toward him, along with the ominous energy emanating from the earth itself, converging toward the Magus, like wisps of smoke being inhaled into his body.

Emery’s keen senses immediately recognized the familiar spirit energy. “Devour!!”

Heorgar was not just cultivating the law of darkness; he was also attuned to the law of devour. What Emery witnessed was the manifestation of this insatiable aspect of his abilities.

Yet, the changes were not confined to Heorgar alone. The swirling mass of darkness above them seemed to undergo a alteration of its own as if responding to Heorgar’s invocation of the law of devour. It took on the shape of a fearsome beast, its silhouette merging into that of a massive wolf created entirely from the essence of darkness.

Emery’s breath caught as he beheld the creature’s ominous form. This was no mere illusion; it exuded an aura of grand magus-level power. With a thunderous howl that reverberated through the air, the dark wolf charged down, its intentions clear.

Meanwhile, Heorgar stood firm, his arms outstretched to the heavens. With a determination born of desperation, he unleashed the gathered energies of the past few hours, meeting the spectral wolves head-on.

KABBBOOMMM!!!!!

The clash between Magus Heorgar and the spectral wolves unleashed a torrent of cosmic energy that rents the air with its intensity. The ground trembled beneath their feet, and even some of the legendary-level beasts nearby were torn apart by the force of the blast.

As the dust and smoke settled, Emery strained his eyes to peer through the lingering haze. His heart pounded with anticipation, his breath catching in his throat as he awaited the outcome of the cataclysmic confrontation.

“Did he succeed!!!?”
