Earth's Greatest Magus

It was a tier 7 spell with the power to cut through space itself.

The technique could be considered Grand Magus Zenonia’s inheritance, which Emery received when he devoured the female Grand Magus.

Over the past 15 years, as Emery’s primal core slowly recovered and his understanding of the law of space had deepened, this formidable technique, along with the terrifying tier 8 spell [Black Hole], had become integral parts of his hidden arsenal of spells.

However, despite their potency, both spells were considered incomplete—each marred by missing and broken runes that Emery had been trying to fix over the past few years.

If the spell were likened to a weapon, what Emery had received from Zenonia was akin to a broken sword—potentially deadly, but fractured and unstable. Just as a magus could wield a shard of the broken blade to inflict harm, using such a weapon was inefficient and carried a high risk of backfiring, possibly harming the caster in the process. To rectify this, Emery knew he had to undertake a complex process of restoration.

Repairing the [Void Blade] spell was akin to reassembling a shattered weapon. It required Emery to gather the scattered fragments, acquire the missing materials, and undergo a meticulous process of tempering and refining before the weapon could be wielded effectively once more.

The [Black Hole] remained perilous for him, as it required extensive preparation and defied his attempts at control. Conversely, the tier 7 [Void Blade] was an ongoing project. It had taken Emery months of effort, involving consultations with experts and significant expenditure on several expensive tier 7 materials. These efforts led to Emery making several necessary changes to the spell.

The spell itself was originally a combination of four runes: conjuration and transmutation runes to create the form; the space runes as the main source of power; and the sword runes as the amplifier.

With minimal comprehension of conjuration and transmutation spells, Emery decided to modify the spell into an alteration spell. Here, he channeled the two space and sword runes into a real sword. The successful result resembled his well-learned tier 3 [Darkness Infusion] spell, albeit four tiers higher in complexity and strength.

This new iteration of the [Void Blade] spell relied on the user’s weapon, which gave it less mobility and was susceptible to breakage. However, on the positive side, it flowed much more seamlessly into the user’s sword techniques. Additionally, the higher sword technique and comprehension of the law of the sword would enhance the effectiveness of the spell.

On another note, it took him several moments to successfully activate the spell, which accounted for his actions inside the flaming sphere.

As soon as the flames dissipated, Emery raised the space-crackling sword toward the grand magus and declared, “Let’s see how strong your armor is!”

Without waiting for the grand magus’s reaction, Emery sprang into action. His massive battle power and the [Space Bending] spell swiftly pulled him closer to his target. Gritting his teeth against the intense heat, he swung the sword with unwavering determination.

SWISSHHH!!!

The sound of the blade slicing through the air echoed around them as Emery’s strike connected with the grand magus’s flaming cloak. Despite encountering resistance, the sword successfully cleaved through the fiery barrier, like a lumberjack cutting a sturdy tree.

“WHATT!!”

The shock of this achievement was palpable, but the veteran grand magus managed to react in time, parrying the blow with his powerful eagle claws.

The collision between Emery’s sword and the grand magus’s defense resulted in a powerful blast that sent both combatants hurtling hundreds of meters away.

“How could this be?!” the grand magus exclaimed, his disbelief evident in his voice as he struggled to comprehend how Emery had breached his formidable defense.

Still reeling from disbelief, the grand magus swiftly reformed his [Myriad Flaming Cloak]. However, before he could fully regain his bearings, Emery charged back in for a second sword strike.

Once again, the flaming cloak proved no match for Emery’s relentless assault, as his blade cut through the fiery barrier with ease.

This was possible because of Emery’s accumulated gains in his law comprehension.

[Law of Nature: 25%]

[Law of Light: 19%]

[Law of Space: 27%]

[Law of Gravity: 9%]

[Law of Devour: 6%]

[Law of Sword: 4%]

[Law Comprehension: 90%]

[Soul Force: 935]

Emery’s prowess extended far beyond that of a mere triple half-moon magus; his mastery of the law of space was unparalleled, infused with potent Khaos energy. With his formidable soul force as a foundation, Emery wielded a tier 7 spirit blade of unparalleled devastation, capable of rending through the grand Magus tier 8 armor.

The clash ensued into a whirlwind of chaos as both adversaries threw themselves into the fray with unrelenting ferocity.

Each time the grand magus reformed his [Myriad Flaming Cloak], the void blade sliced it open anew, its power undiminished. Despite the repeated defiance of the fiery barrier, Emery persisted, harnessing his advantage in battle power to maintain relentless pressure on the grand magus.

CLANK! CLANK!!

Sparks flew with each clash between the swords and the claws, filling the air with scorching flames. Despite the searing heat, Emery pressed on, undeterred.

“No!! No!! No!!” The grand magus’s rejections rang out amidst the din of metal clashes. Sword wounds began to mar his once-immaculate form, a testament to Emery’s unyielding assault.

With each strike, Emery’s swordsmanship grew more precise and deadly. Finally, one decisive swing nearly reached the grand magus’s neck, prompting a panicked reaction. The grand magus desperately intercepted the sword by catching it with his palm.

However, with a skilled maneuver, Emery swiftly rotated the sword, seizing the grand magus’s wrist and cleaving through his entire palm.

“ARRGHH!” The grand magus howled in agony as his severed hand fell to the ground, blood mixing with the flames below.

Following the grand magus’s agonized shriek came a desperate casting of [Burning Cloud] to counter and cover his retreat.

Despite the inherent risks, Emery lunged forward with lethal determination. Yet, rather than aiming for the grand magus’s life-sustaining organs, Emery’s blade found purchase at the magus’s waist, carving a deep and grievous wound.

SPLLAATT!!!

Emery then hovered in silent vigilance, observing from a secure distance as the grand magus grappled with the searing anguish and shock of the injury. This respite allowed the grand magus to initiate the regeneration of his severed arm.

The grand magus contorted with a volatile mix of agony and fury as he locked his gaze on Emery. “Are you mocking me?!! The battle is far from OVER!!”

Now that Emery had asserted his dominance, he responded calmly”I have no intention to push this further. Win or lose, there are no benefits for both of us, only loss… I suggest a cease-fire.”
