Earth's Greatest Magus

Chapter 2118: Defend 9

With a coordinated effort, the stone pedestal seamlessly transformed into what was renowned as a [Mobile Formation], a marvel of formation mastery. Rising swiftly from the ground, it carried everyone atop it, save for Emery, who remained behind to safeguard Magus Heorgar.

This intricate formation, typically reserved for only the most adept formation masters, derived its strength from the collective spirit energy of the magus within and boasted multifaceted functions tailored to the creatorʼs design. In high-level battles, such formations proved invaluable, offering both protection and mobility.

Seeing the escape attempt, the old grand magusʼs lips curled into a sinister smile. ”No, no, you cannot leave.”

Emery swiftly leaped forward to attack Mo Yan, determined to prevent him from harming the flying formation. However, the dragon half-blood Shen Long intercepted him, blocking his path. Without his Fusion form, Emery was at a disadvantage, a level below Shen Longʼs strength.

To match the half-dragonʼs powerful water strike, he pulled his trusted savage sword, utilizing his Dao sword techniques enhanced by the [Void Blade], Emery tackled his lack of brute strength with precision and skill. The air crackled with energy as Emery and Shen Long exchanged a flurry of blows. Meanwhile, the hunchbacked grand magus Mo Yan began to unleash the full power of his domain, revealing the terrifying extent of a two-cosmos grand magusʼs capabilities.

[Domain Battlefield]

Dark energy spread rapidly from Mo Yan, covering a mile around them and creating a massive, inescapable dome that trapped everyone inside. The dome pulsed with ominous energy, and the atmosphere within grew heavy with malevolence, making it difficult to breathe.

When one cosmos grand magus gains the ability to use the power of domain to enhance their personal strength, a two-cosmos grand magus can expand their domain, altering the very environment around them. The larger and stronger the Magusʼs domain, the more formidable battlefield they could create.

The ground within the dome turned black and cracked, exuding an eerie mist. Shadows twisted and writhed as if alive, while the air itself seemed to hum with malevolent intent. Emery felt the oppressive weight of the domain pressing down on him, amplifying the fatigue and pain already plaguing his body. His mind, however, remained focused on the flying formation, hoping they could safely escape.

ʼWe can do this!!” Shouted Magus Yord.

Undeterred by the daunting challenge ahead, the formation master led the mobile formation with unwavering resolve. His hands moved with precision as he infused the formation with additional runes, each glowing with potent spirit energy. These symbols of power adorned the surface of the stone pedestal, enhancing its offensive capabilities.

”EVERYONE TOGETHER!”

Magus Yordʼs commanding voice echoed across the formation, rallying the magus to unite their strength. With synchronized effort, they propelled the formation forward, breached the imposing barrier with tremendous force.

BOOMM!!!

The initial impact shook the air as the formation collided with the barrier. Despite the force behind the assault, the barrier stood resilient, absorbing the blow without faltering. Yet, Magus Yord remained resolute, steering the formation for another strike.

”AGAIN!!!”

BOOMM!!! BOOMM!!!

Each subsequent collision sent tremors through the air, but the barrier held firm, deflecting their concerted efforts. His voice rang out, determination fueling his command. Yet, despite their relentless assaults, the barrier only shows a little crack. Magus Yordʼs expression twisted in frustration. ”That hunchback monster is a spirit master,” he exclaimed, his voice laced with desperation. ”His domain battlefield is too damn strong!”

As the mobile formation continued its futile attempts to break through the barrier, Emery found himself ensnared by the domainʼs influence. Each movement felt like wading through thick syrup, his limbs heavy and unresponsive making it much more difficult to match Shen Longʼs overpowering presence. Meanwhile, Mo Yan, the hunchback slave master, watched with sadistic amusement as his adversaries struggled against his domain. With a sinister grin, he stroked his long beard and began to chant another incantation, channeling his spirit energy into a new spell.

”NOW DIE!!”

His voice reverberated with malice as the spectral form around him coalesced into a massive drill spear, crackling with ominous energy. Emery, caught off guard by the sudden attack, could only watch helplessly as the spear hurtled towards the mobile formation.

The air crackled as the spear flew in on its target.

BOOMM!!!

With a deafening boom, it struck the mobile formation with devastating force, shattering it into fragments and unleashing a violent shockwave that reverberated through the air.

Magus Yord and the others were thrown to the ground, their bodies wracked with pain as they struggled to maintain the backlash from the destroyed formation. Despite their best efforts to rise, the oppressive force of the domain held them captive, crushing their hopes of escape beneath its relentless grip. 𝘙𝘢ꞐÓ฿Εṩ

”HAHAHAH I win!!”

Mo Yanʼs laughter echoed through the battlefield, a chilling testament to his dominance. He reveled in his victory, relishing the defeat of his adversaries. His reputation as a two-cosmos grand magus criminal was well-earned, and his power seemed insurmountable.

But then, abruptly, his laughter turned to coughs, spitting up blood. Emery couldnʼt help but feel a surge of satisfaction at seeing his opponent weaken. The toll of the relentless battle was evident. Unfortunately, Emery was the only one left standing. Mo Yanʼs gaze turned steely as he locked eyes with Emery. ”Just give up already,” he sneered, his voice dripping with disdain. ”I would rather have my slaves intact.”

Emery was ready to fight when the atmosphere around them suddenly crackled with potent energy. Magus Heorgarʼs body seemed to respond to an unseen force as the dark mist enveloping him began to coalesce, swirling and merging, causing Heorgarʼs form to tremble with the intensity of the transformation taking place within him.

His soul slowly emerged from his body, radiating a brilliant light as it absorbed the surrounding mist and gradually expanded to form a complete Grand Magus Soul.

”He is about to succeed!!”

The sight confirmed that Magus Heorgar had successfully refined the cosmic energy, and he was entering the final stage of the Grand Magusʼs ascension. However, this was the most critical stage; any disruption could have dire consequences for the magus.

Emery sprang into action, his muscles tensed and his mind focused. He was prepared to do whatever was necessary to prevent any potential threats to Heorgarʼs ascension.

However, to his surprise, neither the dragon half-blood nor the old grand magus showed any signs of concern. Instead, the dragonʼs half-blood remained motionless, akin to a lifeless puppet, while Mo Yan wore a sinister smile.

”About time,” Mo Yan remarked, his voice dripping with anticipation. ”... Excellent”
