Wizard: Stronger through Marriage

Chapter 97: Chapter 97: I Am Willing to Help You Ascend the Throne

Inside Frost Wolf Castle.

David held a letter from the Silver Moon Royal Capital in his hand.

After the Old King of the Silver Moon passed away due to illness, the Second Prince Bronco Silver Moon, who had already moved into the Royal Palace, announced his succession to the throne.

But this news was merely released by the Second Prince Bronco Silver Moon.

Now, the entire upper nobility of the Silver Moon Kingdom is discussing this shocking news.

Many nobles even refuse to accept the Second Prince’s statement, with some claiming the King of the Silver Moon fell because of a murder, perpetrated by the Second Prince Bronco Silver Moon.

The so-called severe illness was merely a play orchestrated by the Second Prince Bronco Silver Moon, all because of his impatience to ascend the throne.

David didn’t need to guess; he knew these claims stemmed from the factions of the Eldest Prince Gould Silver Moon and the Third Prince Reynolds Silver Moon.

Regardless of who was right or wrong, the Second Prince, with the strong support of the Duke of the Western Border and the Imperial Prime Minister, still temporarily seized the highest authority of Silver Moon as acting king.

Meanwhile, the Eldest Prince Gould Silver Moon and the Third Prince Reynolds Silver Moon simultaneously declared war on the Second Prince Bronco Silver Moon.

Chaos ensued, the entire Silver Moon is in turmoil!

”What was meant to come has finally come.”

David’s face, in contrast, was rather calm.

The internal war he anticipated was supposed to occur in the summer.

Everything happening now did not exceed his expectations.

However, the death of the Silver Moon King was indeed very suspicious, as he also leans towards the Second Prince’s involvement.

Of course, none of this matters anymore.

History is written by the victors.

If the Second Prince wins, the Silver Moon King simply died of illness.

But if someone else wins, they will surely pin the King’s death on the Second Prince to justify their declaration of war.

Reina also entered the office at this moment, pushing open the door.

”Lord Duke, what happened?”

David tossed the document to his secretary, laid back on the reclining chair, feet propped up on the desk, and closed his eyes in contemplation.

Reina took the document to read it, and her face gradually grew solemn.

”It’s started?”

”Yes, it’s started.”

David nodded, ”Next, the Second Prince will undoubtedly initiate a summons.”

He and Reina had discussed this in advance.

Currently, the Eldest Prince Gould Silver Moon controls the Eastern Territory, and the Third Prince Reynolds Silver Moon controls the Southern Territory.

While the Western Territory is in the Second Prince’s hands, the Northern Territory, following the decline of the Frost Wolf Clan, has instead become a landless territory.

Thus, in the future, both the Eldest Prince and the Second Prince will initiate a summons in the Northern Lands, forcing the nobles there to choose sides.

Any family that does not heed the summons will inevitably be the first to be eliminated by the two princes, becoming the sacrificial victims of this Silver Moon internal strife.

But this is also an opportunity for Frost Wolf Ridge; as long as they resist the Second Prince’s attack, Frost Wolf Ridge can prove its ability and qualification to remain neutral.

”Next, Frost Wolf Ridge must also prepare for combat.”

Reina nodded upon hearing, ”The walls of Frost Wolf Ridge have nearly been built, and they will be completed soon. The second squad of Wolf Cavalry is already under development, and all those noble knight orders have been incorporated by us.”

She gave a thorough report on Frost Wolf Ridge’s achievements over the recent period, the Frost Wolf Clan had gradually reestablished control over the surrounding territories during this time.

David’s approach toward these Frost Wolf Clan vassals had consistently been to retain their titles and lands but seize the power to form knight orders.

Therefore, his domain now includes vassal territories such as Eagle Wing Castle and Silver Fox Town, and all knight orders have joined the Frost Wolf Knight Order.

This ensured David absolute control over the surrounding lands, eliminating any chances for these nobles to defect during this moment of war.

As for the nobles in Ice Bear City, after the defeat of the Ice Bear City Coalition, their foundation had long been hollowed out and posed no great threat.

”Alright, next continue recruiting militia.”

”Let the Gray Wolf Knight worry less about resource consumption, quickly train more knight’s attendants. I will find a way to tame another batch of Gray Wolves.” David issued one directive after another, mobilizing the entire Frost Wolf Ridge.

Of course, not only Frost Wolf Ridge, but all lords in the Silver Moon Kingdom who received the news also began taking action, and even kingdoms like Jingge Kingdom, which are close to the Silver Moon Kingdom, were eager, ready to take advantage and reap the benefits at any moment!

...

Wizard Castle.

Anne put down the book in her hand.

It was the first day of the week again, her time to connect with the outside world.

She closed her eyes, channeling her spirit, and began to set up the summoning ceremony.

After placing a black feather in the ritual array, she successfully summoned Little Black Sparrow and retrieved a letter from its body.

Annie fed a piece of cake to Little Black Sparrow and then began to read.

The first letter she looked at was from Rosalie, mentioning that Rosalie had taken some of her companions to the Far North.

With Rosalie’s departure, the Witch Mutual Aid Association was also declared over; Rosalie stated this was their last correspondence in the letter.

After reading the letter, Annie sighed slightly.

From the moment she decided to stay at Frost Wolf Ridge, they had embarked on two completely different paths. Right or wrong didn’t matter; they only wanted to survive.

She directly placed this letter in the candle flame, burning it completely. Annie chose not to send Little Black Sparrow back to Rosalie, as they would have no further contact; this was the best choice for both of them.

”From now on, you will live here too.”

Annie patted Little Black Sparrow’s head and fed it another piece of cake.

Then, she used her spiritual power and summoned Little White Mouse.

These summoned beasts, like the Gray Wolf, possessed a faint extraordinary bloodline, allowing her Tier Three spiritual power to contract many of them for use as messengers.

Now, she summoned these messenger beasts one by one to communicate with the witches and learn about their situations.

”Is Ye Zi almost here?”

Annie opened a letter, her face showing a look of surprise and delight.

Though the Northern Lands were not large, many of the commoners in this world had never left their villages where they lived their entire lives.

Therefore, for the witches to avoid the Church and the lords while traveling to the westernmost edge of the Northern Lands to Frost Wolf Forest was no easy task.

Now, finally, a witch willing to come had arrived near Frost Wolf Forest, allowing her to breathe a sigh of relief and promptly decide to inform Lord Duke of this news.

She then looked through other witches’ letters, replying to them one by one based on their situations and asking if they needed her to personally receive them.

In fact, even Annie did not know the whereabouts of her companions.

At this moment, she suddenly saw a different letter. It was also from a noble witch, detailing the death of the King of the Silver Moon, the Second Prince’s claim to the throne, and the Eldest Prince’s declaration of war.

”The civil war has begun.”

”The Northern Lands will no longer be safe.”

Annie sighed and responded to the witches again.

In her heart, she mentioned the impending battles in the Northern Lands, urging them to make swift decisions, and even if they did not come to Frost Wolf Forest, to stay away from the battlefield.

Unfortunately, she dared not divulge more information about Frost Wolf Ridge and the Wizard Castle in the letters, to prevent them from falling into the Church’s hands by accident.

She really wanted to tell her companions that Frost Wolf Ridge was truly splendid, with a castle belonging to the wizards, where Duke Frost Wolf would protect all the witches.

For now, she could only hope that her companions would trust her and follow the messenger’s guidance to gather near Frost Wolf Forest and join the Wizard Castle.

...

The next day.

David went to the Wizard Castle.

This time, he also came to inquire about matters concerning the wizards.

Originally, he intended to use the wizards’ strength to counter the Second Prince.

Then, he learned from Annie that a witch named Ye Zi would be coming to Frost Wolf Forest, whose ability was to control plants!

”Control the growth of plants?” David squinted his eyes.

This ability sounded well-suited for farming.

He wondered if her ability could act like fertilizer, helping crops grow better and bringing a bountiful harvest to the land.

”Don’t worry, I’ll take you to welcome her myself,” David said in a deep voice.

Annie nodded, then continued to ask, ”Lord Duke, has the war in the Silver Moon Kingdom truly begun?”

Hearing this, David gave the witch an unexpected look.

He knew she had the power of a summoner, able to communicate with the witches using it, but did not expect her to have such well-informed news.

He did not hide it, nodded, and said, ”You’re right.”

”Then what do you plan to do?” Annie continued to inquire.

David did not answer directly, but instead smiled and said, ”To let the wizards freely live on this continent, only the Church’s downfall will suffice, and I shall ascend to the throne!”

Annie was taken aback, her eyes suddenly filled with a glimmer.

She hadn’t thought the Frost Wolf Duke’s ambition was so great.

Ascend to the throne, eradicate the Church!

Once she realized this, she unhesitatingly knelt on one knee, pledging her allegiance, ”Then, I am willing to assist you in ascending the throne!”
