I'm Not Afraid of My Wife Being 30 Years Old, I'm Afraid of Her Knowing Everything

72: This scene in the rain looks so familiar!Jiang Hao could not be certain of Xia He’s true inner thoughts.

He couldn’t keep pressing Xia He about this matter.

It was best to leave it at that; he couldn’t be too hasty, or else he might overreach.

Therefore, Jiang Hao did not dwell on the topic and immediately changed the subject:

”Older Female Cousin, when is your Gambling Addict Stepfather arriving in Chengdu tomorrow?”

Seeing that Jiang Hao had changed the subject, Xia He felt a sense of relief in her heart.

”It’s a good thing Xiao Hao didn’t keep pressing the issue; otherwise, I wouldn’t have known how to answer him.”

In Xia He’s heart,

her feelings for Jiang Hao were somewhat complex.

They were a mix of familial affection and a hint of something more.

Her and Jiang Hao’s growth trajectories were very similar in certain aspects.

They were able to resonate and share a mutual understanding on many things.

It was precisely because of this that

ever since they met, their relationship had been closer than that of ordinary cousins.

As time went on,

the relationship between them was no longer a simple cousin dynamic; it had become something a bit different.

However, Xia He dared not show any signs of this in front of Jiang Hao.

Because she had her own concerns.

Xia He knew very well that,

given the current situation, this kind of relationship probably wouldn’t change anytime soon.

Seeing Jiang Hao ask about the serious matter, she quickly said:

”They arrive at Chengdu North Station around eleven tomorrow morning. He wants me to pick them up, but I haven’t replied yet. Xiao Hao, do you think I should go or not?”

Regarding this question, Jiang Hao told Xia He directly:

”They have legs and feet; they can just take a car to the hospital themselves. Why do you need to pick them up? Don’t go. It’s not worth the bother.”

Jiang Hao suddenly thought of a question and asked Xia He:

”Oh right, Older Female Cousin, you didn’t tell him your current address, did you?”

Xia He shook her head:

”He asked before, but I didn’t tell him. How could I possibly tell him where I live? I’m not that stupid, waiting for them to come to my door and cause trouble.”

Actually, in Jiang Hao’s opinion,

even if Xia He had told that Gambling Addict Stepfather where she lived, it wouldn’t matter.

Could he really dare to come over and stir up trouble?

If it came down to it, she could just move.

Chengdu is so big; if she just moved somewhere else, he wouldn’t be able to find her.

”Older Female Cousin, don’t worry too much about this. Just go to work and do what you need to do. They can’t make any waves. Leave this matter to me. I’ll find some time tomorrow to meet them. Once I resolve this trouble completely, you can draw a clear line with them and won’t have to worry about these things anymore.”

That was what Xia He thought as well.

If this matter wasn’t resolved once and for all, there would be endless trouble later.

That was why she took this opportunity to call Jiang Hao over to help her handle it.

Thinking of this,

Xia He realized that she was becoming increasingly unable to do without the younger brother by her side:

”I find that I’m becoming more and more dependent on Xiao Hao. What will I do if he gets a girlfriend and starts his own family one day?”

The more she thought about it, the more agitated Xia He felt.

Deep inside, she inexplicably felt a trace of irritation.

”What is wrong with me? Xiao Hao having a girlfriend should be a good thing. Why am I thinking like this? No, I can’t think like this, I can’t think like this...”

The more Xia He demanded of herself not to think about it, the more she ended up thinking about it.

She took a deep breath, stood up, and said to Jiang Hao:

”Xiao Hao, while it’s cool by the lake, let’s go for a walk.”

Jiang Hao nodded:

”Sure, it’s still early, wandering around is fine.”

Jiang Hao and Xia He left the spot and walked along the lakeside path, chatting.

Xia He was linking arms with Jiang Hao, acting quite proactive.

To outsiders, they looked just like a couple.

Jiang Hao didn’t think much of it at the moment.

Xia He had linked his arm before; it wasn’t the first time.

”Rum-rum...”

Just as Jiang Hao and Xia He were strolling and chatting along the lakeside path,

a few claps of thunder suddenly sounded in the sky, scaring Xia He into clutching Jiang Hao’s arm tightly.

Looking at the dark clouds that had suddenly covered the sky, she said with a worried expression:

”Xiao Hao, looking at this, I’m afraid it’s going to pour. Let’s hurry back.”

As soon as Xia He finished speaking, several more ”rumbling” sounds of thunder came from the sky, accompanied by several blinding flashes of lightning.

Immediately following that, a strong wind blew across the lake, causing the surrounding reeds to sway back and forth, emitting rustling sounds.

Observing the sudden change in weather, Jiang Hao agreed with Xia He:

”It really looks like a thunderstorm is coming. There’s not even a place to take shelter around here. We have to go back; if it starts pouring, we’ll end up like drowned rats.”

Xia He nodded quickly:

”Mm, let’s go back first. If a bolt of lightning strikes, we won’t have anywhere to hide.”

It would have been better if Xia He hadn’t said that; as soon as she finished,

a bolt of lightning streaked across the sky in front of them with a blinding light, accompanied by a deafening crack of thunder, making Xia He shrink her neck in fear:

”Thunder God and Lightning Mother, please calm your anger! I was just talking nonsense, don’t take it seriously! I have a loose tongue, I have a loose tongue! Ptooey, ptooey!”

Seeing Xia He’s terrified expression, Jiang Hao chuckled:

”Older Female Cousin, don’t be afraid. These are all natural phenomena; it’s not as mystical as you say. Say a few more things, I like seeing you acting so unyielding.”

Xia He tapped Jiang Hao lightly:

”Are you looking for a beating? Stop yapping and start running, or it’s going to pour soon.”

Jiang Hao grabbed Xia He and ran toward the parking lot.

But they had wandered quite far.

It would take at least ten minutes to run from their current position to the parking lot.

They hadn’t run far when dense raindrops began falling from the sky, hitting their faces.

”Oh no, it’s pouring.”

Although Jiang Hao and Xia He were running at a good pace,

the rain fell very quickly.

Within a minute or two, the raindrops in the sky turned into a downpour.

It soaked Jiang Hao and Xia He, turning them into drowned rats.

While running, Xia He kept one hand over her forehead to keep the rain out of her eyes:

”Why did it start raining so hard so suddenly? If it had waited just a few more minutes, we could have made it to the parking lot.”

Jiang Hao wiped the rainwater from his face and glanced sideways at Xia He.

At this moment, Xia He was drenched, and her shirt was clinging tightly to her body.

Her stunning figure and the blue inner lining visible beneath her shirt were clearly outlined, making her extremely eye-catching in the rain, which made Jiang Hao’s gaze heat up.

”Damn, Older Female Cousin’s figure is truly impressive.”

Although Jiang Hao was attracted by Xia He’s great figure, he didn’t have time to think too much about it at the moment.

He held Xia He’s hand and ran quickly toward the parking lot through the heavy rain.

This scene suddenly reminded Jiang Hao of a certain image.

”This current scene is really similar to the opening of that ’Little Story After the Rain’ GIF. Will the subsequent plot of the ’Little Story After the Rain’ play out now?”

Jiang Hao pondered, might this possibility—perhaps, should, probably, maybe—actually happen? Or not?

”I’m really looking forward to it...”
