Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 677: Inaction

The silence on the battlefield was extremely loud.

Though it was only for the players on the opposition side.

Thanks to Xu Fengʼs offense and support, the tables turned extremely hard, with the NPCs on Star Falls City now effectively winning against the monsters.

Additionally, nearly more than three-fourths of the NPCs who were on the opposition side no longer dared to continue to battle. Without a doubt, they cherished money and would never ever quit their task.

However, when faced with an almost certain of the impossibility of the task, they would exert their rights as mercenaries and return half of the payment to quit the job.

As they retrieved their pouches, they all threw the money at the corpses on the battlefield and left as quickly as they could.

While the NPCs could behave shamelessly and leave, the players, on the other hand, werenʼt very lucky.

Some of them who wanted to exit were quickly halted by the NPCs that Xu Feng had deployed before the start of the battle. They were hidden and never allowed to show themselves unless he gave them a signal.

Having realized that there was no chance of escape, they could only grit their teeth and resume the battle. As for trying to log out, it was impossible, given that they were granted the title of Sieger from the System due to their action.

Although it wasnʼt exactly grayed out, the players who tried to log out received a severe warning system prompt, indicating that 90% of their inventory would be dropped aside from Soulbound items.

Soulbound items could be said to be a permanent thing for the player, meaning they could never be dropped or traded.

The only exception was if they were to sell it to NPCs and such items wonʼt ever be auctioned off or put for sale.

Aside from that, they would also receive a debuff that lasts for 30 days, ensuring they wonʼt ever be able to catch up with the mainstream players.

Hence, no one dared to risk their future and log out.

”Stop hesitating and hurry up to revive the commanders!”

No one knew who shouted the instruction, but almost immediately, the players snapped out of their trembling movement and began casting revive on the dead.

And at this moment, it was pretty clear that the opposition allies had suffered tremendously, having been unable to assist the monsters who were now being slaughtered effortlessly by the NPCs from Star Falls City.

Maybe the only saving grace was that these NPCs didnʼt seem to have any intention of targeting the players unless the players themselves chose to attack the NPCs or buff the monsters.

Thus, within a few seconds, the players who had been obliterated by Xu Feng earlier began to revive from the healersʼ skill.

And much to their surprise, they didnʼt see Eclipse Nova taking any action to stop them whatsoever.

”As expected, to launch two deadly spells in consecutive time meant that their mana reserves had been exhausted. Nowʼs the time to revive our people and continue our assault.”

”Our NPCs are still numbered in superior terms. So long as we have the spies in the city work on deactivating that pillar, our debuff would be gone. As for the penalty the spies might receive, itʼs worth it!”

The likelihood of an account being completely crippled for being a traitor was extremely high, but all they needed to do was restart. And in the effort of their sacrifice, the guild naturally wouldnʼt discard them aside when they were still useful as spies.

Thus, with that mindset, the previous despair quickly changed into firm and determined emotion. It wasnʼt also surprising for these players to quickly overcome the hurdle and realize there were still chances.

As the number of revivals increased, back at the top of a building, Carmen, Veronica, and OneManMedia were confused by Xu Fengʼs inaction.

Even the viewers in OneManMediaʼs stream started to express their confusion in the comment section after he had turned the screen back on.

[Why isnʼt Eclipse Nova doing anything?]

[The enemies are reviving and consuming healing potions. The previous effort would all go to waste.]

[Even if Eclipse Nova ran out of mana, didnʼt they still have Lunar Wraith? Why arenʼt they sending her to battle the now weakened enemies?]

The basic gist of the comment sections despite going extremely fast was their incomprehension of Xu Fengʼs remaining idle.

A golden opportunity had arisen, but rather than taking advantage of it, Xu Feng was letting it slip away with each passing time.

”Um, Boss, are we still not allowed to make a move?” Unable to restrain any longer, OneManMedia was the first one to step forward and ask about the situation.

As for Veronica, she had given up on trying to understand the method that Xu Feng was using. In other words, she was probably saving ammo to complain later if they failed and lost their base city.

Meanwhile, Carmen was more on the skeptical side. She refused to believe Eclipse Nova was some kind-hearted person, otherwise, he wouldnʼt have been able to train Xu Feng to be so cunningly evil.

It wasnʼt an exaggeration to say that most people would find Xu Feng unlikable or even relatable whatsoever.

ʼJust what other tricks does he have?ʼ She wondered silently. By now, she could confirm that Eclipse Nova had undergone a powerful Hidden Class just like her.

The only problem was that she didnʼt know what it was, and she felt quite frustrated, to say the least. When she had undergone a Hidden Class change, Xu Feng managed to know precisely her ability and what she was capable of.

Although Xu Feng brushed it off by saying he read a lot in the library, Carmen was no longer the naive player in the past who blindly believed in it.

Having ventured into the library, she was positive that such information would never be in there.

Amidst her deep thoughts, she finally heard Eclipse Nova muttering something.

”Seems like they healed enough.” Xu Feng muttered, his hidden facial expression depicting that of a devil-like grin.
