Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 666: Struggles

When Janet realized the trap she had stepped in, Xu Feng and Zhao Kai were already on their way to the next stop.

”By the way, Feng. Are you sure that the franchise owner or whatever her name was really wouldnʼt try to get revenge?” Zhao Kai asked skeptically.

He found it hard to believe someone would easily let go of grudges and even changed their perspective after getting provoked.

”Kai, this is why you need to understand who your opponent is.” Xu Feng mused and imparted some knowledge to him.

For someone like Janet, she was the type that despised people who talked big without anything to back it up.

However, if they talked big and backed it up, followed by blatantly ignoring her position, then Janet would be more intrigued than ever.

Even if it was an obvious ploy, she just couldnʼt resist it. If one must describe what kind of phenomenon this was, then it could be compared to moths and flames.

Although the moths knew diving straight to the flame meant death, the beauty and allure of the flame caused them to be unable to resist.

”Ah, so youʼre the flame and the franchise owner is the moth.” Realization dawned upon Zhao Kai. With that simple analogy, he instantly understood Xu Fengʼs behavior and why he ordered him to act as unruly as possible.

”You really are playing hard to get, as usual, Feng.” He continued, having realized his buddy had turned into an unscrupulous bastard through and through.

Meanwhile, Xu Feng shrugged in response. ”What can I do when people arenʼt as naive and foolish as in the past? You need to gather a lot of information and present yourself in a way that would increase your value.”

”Thatʼs true.” Nodding, Zhao Kai canʼt argue against that logic. Ever since he was accepted into the Zhao Family, it was as if his whole world changed in the snap of a finger.

Those who looked down on him or those who never paid attention to him began to smile so widely whenever he graced his presence upon them.

Just because he could now proudly use the Zhao family name, his value had increased tremendously.

Suddenly, something strange caught his mind.

”Wait a second,” Zhao Kai raised an eyebrow and stared at Xu Feng.

”How did you know what Janetʼs personality would be like? What kind of magic did you pull there?”

Zhao Kai had indeed been informed beforehand that the High Table Club franchise owner was opening a branch in the city. Hence, he was able to obtain permission easily to go out with Xu Feng.

However, there was actually no information on who the franchise owner would be this time. The information was very tightly locked and secured— to the point where even his grandfather found it difficult to learn more.

Yet out of nowhere, Xu Feng not only knew the branch was opening when one must require certain criteria to be informed, but he even knew who the franchise owner would be.

How could he not be suspicious after thinking about it?

”Did you forget I have someone above me?” Xu Feng mused. He was extremely calm and composed despite being suspected.

Sure enough, thanks to his behavior, Zhao Kai recalled there was indeed one mysterious figure whom Xu Feng had been reporting to.

”Ugh, now Iʼm getting more and more curious about that boss.” Zhao Kai scratched his head in frustration. ”His influence and information network is even superior to our Zhao Family.”

”Iʼm sure you met him already.”

”Huh? I did? When was that?”

”Who knows, but one thing for sure. The boss knows a lot about you and that he appreciates your work in the Divine World. The development of Evershade City has been doing great so far.”

”Really?” Astonished and exhilarated, Zhao Kai never expected the boss to pay so much attention to him. ”Heh, I bet theyʼre impressed by me.”

”Anyway, have you begun to do the hidden class change quest that I told you about?” Xu Feng subsequently changed the topic. With the mainstream players easily reaching level 30 and advancing to Tier 1, he needed to ensure his guild wouldnʼt lag behind.

And speaking of the hidden class change, Zhao Kaiʼs mood quickly went down.

His head was lowered, and with a bitter smile, he explained, ”That hidden class change quest is too difficult.”

”How difficult can it be?” Xu Feng rolled his eyes. Voidmancer was already in the top tier of difficulty and his Origin Cleric was even more so. When compared to the hidden class that he wanted Zhao Kai to undergo, it was a joke.

”The Eclipser Knight prerequisites are really too much, Feng.” Zhao Kai knitted his brows. He had yet to even pass the prerequisites whereas Carmen had already shown her capability in the guild. Although there hadnʼt been much criticism, Zhao Kai knew that he was seriously lacking.

While Zhao Kai was disheartened, Xu Feng was surprised about the matter.

In his mind, he believed Zhao Kai was more than capable of succeeding based on his current ability.

”So what were the prerequisites about?” Xu Feng asked calmly.

”Ugh, I donʼt wish to be carried by you again, Feng.” Contrary to his belief, Zhao Kai chose not to answer him.

”I want to pass through this trial myself without your help. Youʼve done more than enough and I donʼt want to be a burden who canʼt do anything without your assistance. Carmen became your greatest helper, but Iʼm just your average Gun Knight.” He continued, expressing his inner thoughts for the first time.

Had it been others, they most likely would have wished to be assisted by Xu Feng, given his advice was truly made of gold, and guaranteed to be successful.

However, Zhao Kai was ashamed of himself. If Carmen managed to achieve her state without any help, then why canʼt he do the same?

”Hmm, I understand how you feel. But keep in mind that Carmen used quite a lot of the guild resources to advance.” Xu Feng explained.

He understood where Zhao Kai was coming from. For people who wish to accomplish things on their own, they would definitely hate themselves if they need othersʼ help consistently.
