Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 574: Two Moves Left

After repeatedly confirming that he wished to spar with Vince, the other three intruders seemingly stopped their offense in dealing with the turrets. They all retreated to the side, going out of the turretʼs range.

”Master said there was someone dangerous so he didnʼt make a move, but why did he suddenly agree to spar with that youngster?” One of the intruders whispered among themselves.

”I donʼt know, but the Master must have his plan.” Another one chimed in.

”Maybe this youngster is the dangerous one that the Master was talking about earlier.” The third intruder suddenly gave their input, only to end up facing an intense glare from the other two for his words.

”Hmph, only a fool like you would believe that a youngster could withstand even one move in front of the Master.”

”I canʼt believe you are still alive in this field for your ridiculous thinking.”

Speechless, the third intruder pursed their lips, not trying to respond to their aggression.

After all, their Master, Vince, had already stepped into the backyard. The moment he approached close in proximity in the backyard, the turrets started to change their angle to point at him.

However, before the turrets could start firing, Xu Feng raised his hand and said, ”Deactivate the turret for now. Itʼs a great disrespect to have them activate in front of an expert.”

Naturally, his words were directed to Allison, who remained inside the mansion.

Although Allison was unwilling to activate them, she didnʼt dare go against Xu Fengʼs wish, who was currently facing the danger alone. If he said to deactivate them, then she shall deactivate.

And just like that, the turret with their laser pointing at Vince vanished, and no longer in active mode.

”Hoh, youʼre quite courageous, youngster.” Vince was amused that Xu Feng wanted the turret to be inactive. He had anticipated that the latter might try to use the turrets to assist him during the spar.

”Iʼm not courageous, Mister Vince. I simply knew these turrets wouldnʼt pose any danger to you, and keeping them active would merely have them destroyed in the process.” Xu Feng smiled bitterly and responded.

”Hahaha, I like the honesty coming from you.” Vince laughed heartily and retrieved a small pebble. He played it around his fingers and asked, ”Then are you ready to receive my first move?”

”Please do!”

As soon as Xu Feng finished his words, Vince narrowed his eyes and flickered the small pebble toward Xu Feng.

The small pebble left Vinceʼs fingers with a sharp flick. It was accelerating to an incredible speed, cutting through the air with a force equivalent to or greater than that of a bullet.

Xu Feng saw it coming the moment Vince made the subtle action but couldnʼt dodge it. After all, Vince probably perceived someone was standing right behind him, albeit it could also be the fact that he deduced it after seeing Xu Feng called for the turret to be turned off.

Nevertheless, the fact remained true that if he were to dodge, this small pebble of his was definitely going to pierce through the reinforced glass and harm Allison.

In other words, Vince calculated everything that forced Xu Feng to resist the small pebble. Otherwise, if he dodged away, Allison would either be harmed or killed.

ʼHow did this kind of monster enter Avalon City undetected?ʼ Xu Feng cursed silently.

He was more or less displeased with the security that the Avalon City held and wanted the people responsible for surveillance to be fired and live the rest of their lives unemployed for such sloppy work.

With the dodging option voided, his muscles tensed up, and he braced himself for the impact.

By focusing the energy within his body in a subtle manner, he extended his palm, treating it like a shield. Following that was another unleashed energy force to just barely slow the pebbleʼs approach.

As the pebbleʼs power diminished slightly from his manipulation, it soon impacted his palm, causing Xu Feng to feel a pang of pain.

A bruise mark was quickly visible on his palm, but he gritted his teeth and successfully resisted the first move. The small pebbleʼs power finally dissipated and dropped to the ground like a regular pebble.

Drip!

Drip!

Very shortly, the sound of blood dripping could be heard if one listened carefully.

Meanwhile, Vince, who could see it from his viewpoint, chuckled lightly. ”I must say I was quite impressed that you could receive the small pebble and not even utter a single cry from the pain.”

”Mister Vince merely took it easy on me.” Xu Fengʼs back was somewhat sweaty from the utilization of energy force. Still, he was able to flash a smile, ignoring the blood dripping down from his palm.

”Thereʼs still two moves left.” He continued, clearly wanting this to be over with. As for the possibility that Vince might go back on his words, that was impossible.

It was precisely because Xu Feng understood people like Vince that he was able to take advantage of them.

They honored their integrity and words dearly— more than their life sometimes. Thus, the moment Vince agreed to the spar, the victory was already determined.

The only downside was that Xu Feng must be ready to face a series of injuries during the process.

ʼItʼs a good thing that I got baptized, otherwise, I canʼt even utilize 5% of the energy force residual in my body.ʼ He thought to himself, feeling quite tense.

It would be a lie to say that he wasnʼt afraid of dying in this encounter.

People might always think he was ahead of everyone by three steps or more, but the truth was that he was merely treading on a very thin line. Just one mistake and everything he built could be toppled down.

And today was one of the biggest hurdles that he had to face.

Who could have predicted someone like Vince to be coming to a third-graded city and target Allison of all people?

ʼThis butterfly effect is really enjoying itself to torture me.ʼ
