Global Exploration: Starting from Decrypting Chernobyl

29: Psychic ability, the heroic spirit of the past! 3/4“You, I told you to poke the concrete, and you just went and did it? Don’t you have any brains?”

“...”

Walking further into Pripyat, Wu Tian spoke, exasperated.

“This...”

“Didn’t you, Boss Master, tell me to?”

“Of course I’d believe whatever you said!”

The Fatty said, feeling wronged.

“...”

“You believe whatever I say?”

“Then if I said eating poop could train one’s resistance to hunger and lead to the legendary martial art ‘Devour the Heavens,’ would you go eat poop?”

The Fatty: ... The railway bridge was roughly in the suburbs, but the church was pretty much in the center of Pripyat town!

It radiated across the entire town from the church as its central point.

At the start of the disaster, it suffered an extremely high degree of damage!

But... if you were to ask where the most people were during the disaster, and where the radiation was highest!

It would have to be the school closest to Pripyat.

And Wu Tian and the Fatty’s next destination was this now-empty school, to see what it looked like thirty-four years later...

“Whew...”

“That slightly more orderly cluster of buildings over there must be the school, right?”

The Fatty pointed at the cluster of buildings not far away, hidden in the dense woods.

“It should be!”

“Let’s get closer and take a look.”

“This school might be a bit dangerous. Remember to keep the radiation detector on. If anything seems off, leave immediately!”

“Understood, Boss!”

“Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing!”

The Fatty smiled slightly.

The two walked for about thirty minutes in total before arriving at the long-abandoned school.

Nowadays, the streets and alleys of the town were overgrown with waist-high weeds.

This school was no exception!

The once bright and clean school aged rapidly under the baptism of thirty-four years and the contamination of nuclear radiation!

The walls became mottled, and the glass shattered and fell off!

The paint faded and lightened, and even the desks and chairs in the school lost their original vibrant colors.

Standing inside this school.

Wu Tian even felt like he had arrived at a haunted house!

“Grumble...”

Standing in the school’s front yard, which had been taken over by all sorts of plants, the Fatty involuntarily shivered, looked up at the bright sun, and cursed under his breath.

“Damn it!”

“It’s a sunny day, so why is it so cold here?”

“Could it be haunted?”

“Haunted?”

Wu Tian chuckled.

“I’m an atheist. How could such things truly exist in this world? I guess the vegetation coverage here is too high, blocking the sunlight, so the temperature is just a bit low.”

“Ghosts?”

“That kind of thing only exists in novels!”

“Don’t overthink it, let’s go in and take a look.”

With that said.

Wu Tian took the lead and pushed open the main door, which the teachers and students of the school hadn’t had time to lock when they left that year.

He walked into the dark and deep corridor.

The Fatty shook his head helplessly.

And followed him!

“Thud... thud...”

“Thud... thud...”

Dull footsteps were clearly audible in the dark corridor. Wu Tian and the Fatty entered the teaching building, one after the other, like a gaping maw.

What awaited them...?

... “Holy crap, this school is a bit creepy. Why does it feel like one of those haunted houses from movies?”

“You feel that way too?”

“+1, this school is really too terrifying!”

“That’s the vibe!”

“Host, you should leave here quickly. I always feel like it’s not very safe here?”

“I’m watching the live stream from under my covers right now. What do I do if I hear a sound in the living room?”

“Upstairs, of course, you charge in!”

“Newcomers, stop discussing these things. Does anyone know the Host’s phone number? Quickly notify him that something has happened! The Su-57 fighter jets dispatched by Kyiv are about to take off!”

“Take off to do what?”

“Take off to take the Host’s life!”

“Holy smokes, the Host just did an exploration live stream, and Ulan Country’s fighter jets are being deployed?”

“What the hell do you know...”

“...”

“Brothers, I just found the Host’s phone number, and I called, but it didn’t go through.”

“The radiation probably interfered with the Host’s electronic devices!”

A bullet comment appeared!

Everyone in front of the screen was instantly dumbfounded!

“Damn it!”

“Then what do we do?”

...At this moment, Wu Tian and the Fatty had already entered the depths of the first floor of the teaching building... This school seemed a bit different from those in Dragon Country.

The teaching building had a square, enclosed design, like a frame without a door, directly enclosing this area.

“It won’t open!”

The Fatty twisted the doorknob.

“Click!”

“Huh?”

Wu Tian grimaced.

“It must be rusted shut!”

“But it’s fine...”

Crack!

As he spoke.

Wu Tian used force with his wrist, violently prying open the lock that had long since rusted and fused with the door frame!

He pushed open the classroom door and walked in.

Creak... The classroom door, covered in graphite, slowly opened.

The sunlight from outside streamed in, illuminating the floor and walls of the entire classroom.

Allowing Wu Tian and the Fatty to clearly see everything inside the classroom!

The kindergarten classrooms on the first floor had a slightly larger central area, surrounded by bunk beds stacked on all sides.

Serving as a resting place for the children.

The model back then must have been that nap time, bedtime, and classes all took place in one classroom.

“Hiss...”

The Fatty took a deep breath.

“This really does look a bit like a fire scene...”

The walls were charred black, the paint was peeling, and the floor was covered with all sorts of debris and black graphite ash!

After the reactor exploded that year, this was the closest affected area.

At 1:25 AM, the children were still sleeping, and the graphite ash drifted through the window cracks onto their beds, blankets, and even their skin!

According to reports from that year.

None of the teachers or students at this school survived; all perished!

Even those who lived a few more years spent them battling cancer and illness!

“This is...”

The Fatty squatted down, observing the dense, scattered items on the ground.

“Gas masks?!”

[The Fatty discovered gas masks used by firefighters back then. Their average lifespan was five minutes and thirty-one seconds. A sleeping heroic spirit resides on each of these gas masks. Communicate with them, and you will receive some unexpected information!]

[Radiation Resistance +10!]

[Spirit Communication +5!]

!

Spirit Communication ability?

What is this thing?

Since unlocking the system, Wu Tian had never heard of this appearing in his attribute values.

Also!

Yin spirits?

Are these some kind of ghosts or monsters?

Wu Tian’s expression was a mix of awkwardness and fear!

No way!

He had just said that ghosts couldn’t possibly exist, and he was being proven wrong so quickly.
