Global Exploration: Starting from Decrypting Chernobyl

24: Dyatlov who concealed the truth!”Gatilov?”

Wu Tian asked softly, frowning.

”The one who was the Deputy Chief Engineer at Chernobyl, responsible for overseeing the test that led to the explosion?”

”...”

”Yes!”

Sinikov was slightly startled, then nodded.

”I originally thought the names of these people were forever sealed in the dust of history, but I didn’t expect you to remember...”

Sinikov’s expression was slightly surprised.

But he continued to speak.

”In desperation...”

Sinikov’s expression showed some guilt.

”I had no choice but to follow Gatilov’s instructions and continue with the nuclear reaction test, but the thing we least wanted to see still happened!”

Sinikov began to tremble all over.

”Initially, reducing the nuclear reactor’s operating power went smoothly.”

”The entire reactor’s power decreased steadily from 800 megawatts to 700 megawatts, but...”

”Under circumstances where we did nothing, the reactor’s operating power automatically plummeted from 700 megawatts, dropping directly to 30 megawatts in just ten seconds!”

”Oh my God!”

Sinikov’s expression was pained.

”You have to understand, the normal power of a nuclear reactor should be 3.2 gigawatts!”

”This extremely low operating power caused the entire reactor to produce a large amount of xenon poison, which directly prevented the entire reactor from operating at high power for 24 hours!”

”Hmm.”

Wu Tian nodded.

He had researched information before coming to Chernobyl.

In situations where power rapidly decreases, the steam used to suppress the reaction in the reactor is produced very little due to the excessively low temperature. Coupled with the effect of xenon poison, the safest method is to slowly increase the power over 24 hours.

This way, the nuclear reactor would safely resume operation.

Without an explosion!

”So, your suggestion is to slowly increase the power?”

Wu Tian asked.

”Yes!”

Sinikov nodded.

”My original words were to advise Gatilov to slowly increase the power within 24 hours, but...”

”Gatilov told me!”

”He didn’t care!”

”He said he had 25 years of experience operating nuclear reactors, and told us to shut our mouths and follow his instructions, or else he would make sure we couldn’t find work at any nuclear power plant in the former Bear Country!”

An abnormal flush of crimson spread across Sinikov’s pale face.

”Cough cough!”

”He’s just an arrogant bastard!”

”He only cared about quickly completing the experiment and submitting the report!”

Sinikov’s thin fists clenched tightly!

”To find a place to enjoy himself!”

”...”

Wu Tian fell silent.

Beneath his calm exterior, an extreme anger seemed to be brewing!

”And then?”

”Then...”

Sinikov said with a desperate expression.

”Under his threat, we had no choice but to pull out 205 of the 211 control rods to increase the reaction power...”

...”No way, even though I don’t understand how a nuclear reactor works, control rods should be like the brakes of a car, and almost all of them were pulled out...”

”Wouldn’t the reactor just go wild?”

”The person upstairs is correct!”

”The existence of control rods is to allow the nuclear reactor to operate in a relatively safe environment, and safety regulations require at least 30 control rods to remain in the reactor, but they only left 6.”

”This is why the accident was unavoidable!”

”...”

”Indeed, what the two people upstairs said is very correct.”

”I am Li Xiangzhe from Dragon Country, and it is only now, in the Host’s live stream, that I have learned this truth.”

”If what this Sinikov says is true...”

”I’m afraid the Chernobyl nuclear accident of that year needs to be re-evaluated and settled!”

Li Xiangzhe, who had not yet disembarked from the plane, sent a long string of bullet comments in the live stream by operating his tablet.

His status as an emperor made his bullet comments particularly striking.

Everyone in the live stream could see them clearly!

Of course... this also included those who personally experienced the Chernobyl incident that year.

And at this moment... in Kyiv, the capital of Ulan Country, in a large office, three people were sitting, staring intently at Wu Tian’s live broadcast screen.

Their expressions were cold, and their fists were clenched!

”Nonsense!”

”He’s slandering me!”

Gatilov, the Deputy Chief Engineer mentioned by Sinikov, turned pale and pointed at the person on the screen, cursing.

”What the hell does he know? At that time...”

”At that time, I wasn’t even in the control room!”

”It was clearly him, he himself, who arbitrarily pulled out 205 control rods!”

”Just like my testimony back then, I was in the restroom, in the restroom!”

”Do you know?”

”I wasn’t even there!”

Bang!

Gatilov, looking frantic, swept everything off the floor except the computer, panting heavily as he glared at the three people on the screen.

His eyes gleamed with a sinister cold light.

”...”

”Heh heh...”

”Gatilov, calm down, why are you shouting at us?”

”Don’t forget, we are comrades in arms.”

”We definitely believe you!”

”The truth of that year really had nothing to do with you, heh heh...”

A man in his forties next to him said with a chuckle to Gatilov.

”Whew...”

Gatilov let out a heavy breath.

His bloodshot eyes made him look like a demon crawled out of hell!

”No!”

”This Host and Sinikov cannot live!”

”Brother!”

”You are the highest military officer in Kyiv, quickly send a plane to eliminate them!”

Gatilov panted, his eyes red, staring at a man beside him as he spoke.

”...”

”Ah, this...”

”It doesn’t comply with regulations!”

The man’s expression remained unchanged, he smiled faintly, and looked directly at Gatilov as he spoke.

”What doesn’t comply with regulations?”

”This person illegally entered the country and trespassed into your Ulan Country’s military restricted zone. Given that this person is extremely dangerous, shouldn’t fighter jets be dispatched to eliminate him?”

”Hmm...”

The man seemed to ponder for a moment.

Bang!

Then he slammed his hand on the table!

”Good!”

”Gatilov, you are right, this person is extremely dangerous and has trespassed into a military zone, he should be intercepted and eliminated with extraordinary means!”

”I’ll call Air Command right away.”

”Tomorrow morning!”

”Tomorrow morning, let them be wiped out!”

...And at this moment, Wu Tian, in Sinikov’s room, was completely unaware of this!

Because of another truth Sinikov had just revealed.

His heart was filled with endless rage!

”After the incident, Gatilov put all the blame on me, saying that I had arbitrarily pulled out the control rods, and that he wasn’t even in the control room at the time!”

”Didn’t anyone testify for you?”

Wu Tian was a bit confused.

”What about the others in the control room?”

”...”

Sinikov’s face changed.

Tears streamed down his face.

”They... within two days of the accident, they all...”

”They all died...”
