The World's Richest Man: Start with the Daily Intelligence System

177: Chapter 177 Treasure Hunting in the Middle of the NightIn the evening at Baota Village, an enticing aroma permeated the courtyard of Wang Hongmin’s house. Liu Haorui sat by a worn-out wooden table, devouring chicken wings and slurping ice-cold soda. The afterglow of the setting sun fell on his face, reflecting a satisfied expression.

”Old Liu, eat your fill. I’ll be sending you on your way shortly.” Zhang Wei sat opposite him with a playful smile on his face, holding a hamburger he had just taken a bite of.

”No way, you’re actually that kind of person, Old Zhang!” Liu Haorui’s eyes widened. He put down his soda and, with his hands all greasy, prepared to launch an attack on Zhang Wei.

Seeing this, Zhang Wei quickly raised his hands in a gesture of surrender. ”I was wrong, I was wrong. Just eat your fill. This house doesn’t have any heating equipment, and it gets especially cold at night.”

Liu Haorui finally breathed a sigh of relief and picked up his soda again, taking several large gulps. ”Old Zhang, aren’t you being too dramatic? Coming all the way here in such cold weather, what on earth are you up to?”

Zhang Wei swallowed the burger in his mouth and gave a mysterious smile. ”You’ll find out in a bit. Eat your fill first; there’s serious business to attend to tonight.”

”Old Zhang, I’ve even got a shovel and a flashlight in my car. Are you planning to play a treasure-digging game? This is a great theme. If I’d known, I would’ve asked Xiao Hua to come along so we could film a video episode.” As Liu Haorui spoke, he pulled out his phone, genuinely considering the suggestion.

”What are you thinking? How can we make this public?” Zhang Wei glared at him. ”Hurry up and finish eating. We’ll play a couple of rounds of games first.”

At the mention of games, Liu Haorui’s eyes immediately lit up. ”Come on, come on, let’s play a few rounds!” He quickly put down his chicken wing, wiped his hands, picked up his phone from the table, and skillfully opened the game interface.

The two were soon immersed in the game.

As the sky gradually darkened, Baota Village was enveloped in tranquility. The villagers had long since extinguished their lights, leaving only the dim yellow light at the village entrance, standing like a lonely eye silently guarding this sleeping land. By the sheep pen in the backyard, Zhang Wei and Liu Haorui’s figures appeared exceptionally clear under the silvery moonlight.

”Old Liu, come over here, dig right here!” Zhang Wei stood directly above the location of the silver ingots indicated by the system, his tone carrying a hint of excitement he couldn’t hide. His finger tapped lightly in the air a few times.

”Hurry up. Once we’re done digging, we can still go for morning tea.” Zhang Wei waved at Liu Haorui by the moonlight, a smile of anticipation hanging on his lips.

Liu Haorui ran over eagerly, his face brimming with excitement. He picked up the shovel and began digging fiercely at the spot Zhang Wei pointed to. Soil flew everywhere, and sweat trickled down his forehead, but he didn’t care at all. He was full of energy, as if all the strength in his body was concentrated on that shovel.

Zhang Wei watched from the side, offering words of encouragement from time to time: ”Old Liu, keep going! You’re almost there!”

As time passed minute by minute, Liu Haorui suddenly stopped and shouted softly, ”Old Zhang, I think I’ve hit something. Shine the flashlight here.” His voice carried a trace of tension and anticipation.

Zhang Wei quickly aimed the flashlight beam at the direction of Liu Haorui’s finger. The beam pierced through the darkness, illuminating that patch of soil.

”It’s a rock. Keep digging; it should be right underneath.”

Liu Haorui nodded and continued to swing the shovel.

”Old Zhang, you really had foresight. Without these gloves, my hands would definitely be ruined.” Liu Haorui looked at his hands and then glanced at Zhang Wei with an expression of admiration.

The pit grew deeper and deeper until half of his body was submerged in it. Mud covered his clothes and hands, but he didn’t care at all.

”Old Zhang, come down and take a look. I’ve really hit it this time! I heard the sound of the shovel scraping against metal!” Liu Haorui’s voice carried a hint of agitation.

Zhang Wei picked up the flashlight and carefully jumped into the pit, shining the light inside. There, in the pit, a corner of a rusty Iron chest was revealed.

”The shovel is too loud. Switch to digging with your hands,” Zhang Wei said in a low voice.

Liu Haorui nodded and diligently began clawing at the dirt with his hands. Although protected by gloves, his fingers still stung from the friction against the soil, but he didn’t care. He had only one thought in his mind: to dig out that Iron chest.

Before long, the Iron chest was unearthed. A large, rusty lock hung on the chest, clearly having been buried underground for many years. Judging from the surface, it was impossible to tell what was inside, but its heavy weight sparked anticipation.

Zhang Wei’s heart stirred. Recalling the information from the system’s intelligence, he secretly guessed: This should be that chest of silver ingots. His heartbeat quickened, as if he could already see the glittering silver.

”Old Zhang, this box is a bit heavy!” Liu Haorui panted heavily. Sweat from his forehead dripped onto the Iron chest, but he couldn’t be bothered with it. He struggled to lift the chest high, his hands trembling slightly, clearly having exhausted all his strength.

At this moment, Zhang Wei squatted by the pit, his gaze focused on the bottom. He steadily took the Iron chest Liu Haorui handed up, his arm muscles tensing, showing that it was not light.

”Old Zhang, take the shovel.” After handing the shovel to Zhang Wei, Liu Haorui slowly climbed out of the pit himself, covered in mud from head to toe and looking quite bedraggled.

”We’ll leave as soon as we’re done,” Zhang Wei said with a smile.

Liu Haorui said impatiently, ”Old Zhang, I’m so curious. It’s so heavy, what exactly is inside?” His eyes were full of curiosity and anticipation.

”We’ll talk when we get back.”

Taking advantage of the Night Color, the two quietly filled the pit back in. One carried the chest while the other carried the shovel as they walked toward the courtyard.

The Night Color had not yet completely faded, and the air was filled with the fresh scent of morning dew. By this time, Zhang Wei had already driven the car slowly into Jiangnan Garden.

Liu Haorui hadn’t slept all night, his mood as agitated and excited as boiling water. He couldn’t wait to unveil the mysterious Iron chest and see what was inside.

Zhang Wei took out some delicate tools from his toolbox and skillfully pried open the heavy lock. With a soft ”click,” the chest slowly opened, and silver light instantly radiated in all directions.

”silver ingots! It’s actually silver ingots!” Liu Haorui almost jumped up in excitement, his eyes flashing with uncontrollable joy.

Zhang Wei was equally excited. He gently stroked the chest full of silver ingots, the cold sensation from his fingertips bringing an indescribable joy to his heart.

”Old Zhang, look at this chest of silver ingots. We’re going to strike it rich again!” Liu Haorui’s voice trembled slightly, filled with a sense of unbelievable ecstasy.

Liu Haorui’s shouts broke the morning silence, waking An Xiaoxi and Nut from their dreams. Nut stared with its round little eyes, wagging its tail and running over happily to pounce at Zhang Wei’s feet, gently rubbing its wet little nose against his shoe.

The Little girl opened her door sleepily, and when her gaze landed on that chest of silver ingots, her eyes instantly widened, her mouth hanging open wide enough to fit an egg.

Ignoring her appearance, she rushed to the chest in a few quick steps, carefully picked up an Sycee, and began to examine it closely.

Liu Haorui was even more excited, directly kissing the Sycee in his hand.
