The World's Richest Man: Start with the Daily Intelligence System

27: Chapter 27 Selling Player CardsJust then, the shop owner’s phone suddenly rang.

The owner could only apologize to the viewers in the livestream: ”Sorry, I have to take a call. I’ll be stepping away from the stream for a moment.” After saying that, he closed the livestream and answered the phone.

”Hello? Brother Zhao? Yeah, yeah, I really had my eyes opened today.” It seemed like an old acquaintance was on the other end, and the owner chatted with him familiarly.

”I see. Wait a moment, let me ask for you.” The owner covered the microphone and said to Zhang Wei, ”A big tycoon in the hobby circle happened to be in the livestream just now and witnessed the entire process of pulling the card. He’s very interested in this card you pulled. I wonder if you have any intention of selling it, brother?”

Zhang Wei felt they could discuss it. The intelligence system had already given him the bottom line: the current market value of this card was around 50,000 yuan. If the other party offered too little, Zhang Wei would just treat it as nonsense and go back to let An Xiaoxi find a buyer. At most, it would just take a bit more time. If the price could be negotiated to over 50,000, then it would definitely be a profitable deal with no risk of loss. There was no reason not to sell.

After receiving Zhang Wei’s affirmative response, the owner said a few more words to the other party and then switched the phone to speakerphone mode.

A man’s voice came from the other end of the line: ”Hello. I watched the livestream. First of all, congratulations. To pull such a rare card from just one box—it’s my first time seeing such incredible luck.”

Zhang Wei replied with a smile: ”Thanks for the kind words. My luck has been pretty good lately, which is why I came to buy a box to try my hand.”

The tycoon continued, ”Then I won’t beat around the bush. Everyone in the circle knows that I love collecting player cards and that I’m also a loyal fan of Curry. How about I offer 100,000 for this card? If that’s okay, I can transfer the money to you on the spot.”

”Holy cow! As expected of a tycoon player.” Zhang Wei was overjoyed. The intelligence system definitely wouldn’t be wrong; this card was only worth about 50,000. This big shot’s opening offer had directly doubled it.

But thinking about it carefully, a single box of player cards could easily cost several thousand yuan, with some boxes even reaching over ten thousand. Often, you couldn’t even pull a high-value card. This really wasn’t something an average person could afford to play.

He vaguely remembered news reports about Chen Xixi, the photography teacher now living in the US. He was a fanatic sports card enthusiast; it’s said that every time he opens cards, he spends at least $600,000 worth of card boxes.

Tycoon players weren’t stupid either. As the value of player cards increased, it was inevitable that some people would try to pull shady tricks. Many counterfeit and inferior cards had already appeared on the market.

The craftsmanship of these fake cards would have flaws, but there were so many types of player cards, and buyers generally collected cards they didn’t already have. This led to buyers not knowing what the genuine version of the card they were buying should actually look like.

This tycoon had also suffered losses a few times, losing over a hundred thousand. He didn’t really care about the money; the main issue was that he didn’t know he’d bought a fake and took it to a physical store to show it off, only to have it pointed out by another player on the spot. He lost all his face in an instant.

Zhang Wei’s card wouldn’t have this problem. First, the shop was an old, familiar connection, and the shop owner himself was a player card enthusiast whose character was trustworthy.

Secondly, this card was pulled in front of everyone during a livestream, so naturally, it couldn’t be fake. Therefore, the tycoon player didn’t mind paying a bit extra. The main thing was that the card’s authenticity was guaranteed.

This offer greatly exceeded Zhang Wei’s expectations, but he also knew to quit while he was ahead. If he asked for too much and the tycoon gave up on the deal, Zhang Wei estimated he would only be able to sell it for around 50,000 to other buyers.

After thinking it through, Zhang Wei said with a smile, ”Deal! Brother, let’s go with the price you said. When do you have time for us to meet up and trade?”

The other party replied indifferently: ”No need for the trouble. Just tell me your bank account number, and I’ll transfer it to you now. As for the card, just leave it at Fatty’s shop. I’ll pick it up in a few days.”

The tycoon wasn’t at all afraid that the shop owner would embezzle the card. Given his reputation in the circle, if the owner dared to embezzle it or give him a fake card, he could expose it, and within minutes, the owner wouldn’t be able to survive in this circle anymore.

Zhang Wei gave the card to the owner and then provided his bank account number.

Not long after.

(Industrial and Commercial Bank of China: Your account ending in ****** received a deposit of 100,000.00 RMB. Current balance: 116,702.63 RMB.)

Zhang Wei felt extremely joyful. Who would have thought that a card made of paper could actually sell for the sky-high price of 100,000? One could only say that you don’t understand the hobbies of the wealthy.

The owner was also delighted. Pulling such an expensive card in his shop—what did that mean? It meant his shop could produce big hits; it was a place that attracted wealth. Wasn’t this more useful than any advertisement?

He decided he would go and order a custom banner to hang at the shop entrance in a bit.

Moreover, pulling a big hit during the livestream had brought him a wave of traffic. Both gifts and followers had increased significantly. Later, he could edit the livestream recording and post it online to earn another big wave of traffic. He was simply winning big time!

The tycoon player hung up the phone, and the owner took a photo of the card before carefully putting it into the safe under the checkout counter.

He couldn’t afford not to be careful. If a 100,000-yuan card was lost, he might as well close his shop.

Zhang Wei said to him, ”Boss, I’ve received the money, so I’ll head out now that the deal is done.” He then pointed to the remaining common cards he had pulled. ”I don’t want any of these. Boss, you handle them for me.”

These cards together were worth two or three hundred, but Zhang Wei couldn’t be bothered to sell them one by one. He’d just treat them as the labor fee for the owner opening the cards for him.

Declining the owner’s request for a group photo, Zhang Wei left the card shop. Now that he had over 100,000 in his bank account again, Zhang Wei felt much more confident.

It was strange to say, but before getting the system, Zhang Wei only had a few thousand yuan on him and didn’t feel anything was wrong. But just now, when there was only 10,000 left in the card, his heart felt empty and a bit panicked.

Standing at the mall entrance, he called Liu Haorui. It was picked up quickly.

”Old Liu, what are you doing?”

Liu Haorui’s side was a bit noisy. ”I just finished driving school. If there’s a lunch I can freeload, I’ll come over right now.”

”I just shared over 10,000 with you yesterday, and you still want to freeload today’s lunch? Why am I always the one being freeloaded? No way! You have to treat me to a meal, or else I’ll feel unbalanced!” Zhang Wei shouted, pretending to be angry.

”Don’t do that, Godfather! My dear Godfather! I need to save this money. Who knows, Zhao Dan might run into trouble someday and need help. If I step in for a ’hero saving the beauty’ moment, won’t I just win her over immediately!” Liu Haorui had a thick-skinned look, his heart set on freeloading.

”You kid are going to be screwed over by Zhao Dan sooner or later. Hurry up and come over, I’m waiting for you to eat.” Zhang Wei joked with a laugh.

”Alright~”

Driving back to Jiangnan Garden, Zhang Wei felt like eating some small seafood today, so he went to ”Green Armor” next to the residential area. He bought a dozen each of charcoal-grilled oysters and steamed scallops with vermicelli, and also brought along three jin of crayfish. Considering that a young girl like An Xiaoxi might not be able to handle spicy food, he chose the mildly spicy flavor for everything. Thinking that this amount would be about right for three people, he had the staff pack it up and took it away.

Returning home, Zhang Wei found that An Xiaoxi’s door was still tightly closed, and he couldn’t help but feel a bit worried. It had been over three hours since he left in the morning.

”How can this girl sleep until now? Nothing happened to her, right?”

Starting to worry about An Xiaoxi’s safety, Zhang Wei put down the seafood and went directly to her door. He twisted the handle, and as expected, it was locked.

Zhang Wei then remembered that the agent had given him the keys when he rented the place, including keys for every room. Zhang Wei quickly rummaged through the drawer, found it, and inserted it into the lock.

The door unlocked, and Zhang Wei pushed it open and rushed in, only to see An Xiaoxi on the bed, wearing a set of cute pajamas, lying sprawled out and sleeping soundly. The quilt had already been kicked onto the floor.

Looking at that flat-as-a-runway airport chest, a question popped into Zhang Wei’s mind for a split second.

”Huh? Which side is the front, exactly?”
