The World's Richest Man: Start with the Daily Intelligence System

11: Chapter 11 Shopping with My New RoommateAfter returning home, Zhang Wei went to rest.

He slept until after eleven in the morning before crawling out of bed, bleary-eyed.

Not having to worry about being late for work was truly refreshing!

Walking out of his room, An Xiaoxi was curled up on the sofa with a laptop on her knees, typing away. Zhang Wei took the initiative to greet her, ”Morning. Did you sleep okay last night?”

”It was alright. There’s breakfast I bought on the table, though it’s a bit cold. You can eat it if you don’t mind,” An Xiaoxi said while her hands never stopped typing.

Scratching his head, Zhang Wei felt a bit embarrassed. They had just agreed on free room and board yesterday, yet he let the girl buy breakfast on the very first day.

Zhang Wei decided to take An Xiaoxi out later to buy bedding and some daily necessities. He also planned to stop by Global Harbor to buy the Scratch-offs.

At that moment, An Xiaoxi suddenly remembered something and stopped typing. ”Someone wants those two bicycles. I found a buyer directly through big data. They want to come over and see the bikes; if all goes well, the deal can be closed on the spot. When do you think would be a good time to arrange it?”

Zhang Wei thought for a moment. ”We’re going out to shop soon, so let’s set it for around three or four in the afternoon.”

Then he sent a message to Liu Haorui, asking him to come to Jiangnan Garden for dinner tonight. After all, Liu Haorui often came over to Zhang Wei’s place to hang out, so he might as well introduce An Xiaoxi to him sooner rather than later.

After finishing the breakfast provided by the little loli, the two headed straight for Global Harbor.

Global Harbor Plaza topped the shopping mall revenue rankings for the entire City Name in 2024. Putting aside its fame, it mainly benefited from its sheer size.

At a full 480,000 square meters, you could shop until you dropped. It was an absolute nightmare for married men—walking in wearing a suit and coming out in just underwear. The shops inside covered everything, allowing them to settle all their shopping needs in one go.

Entering Global Plaza, even though it was a weekday morning, the mall was still very lively.

An Xiaoxi had previously spent her time moving between illegal internet cafes and small hotels. It had been a long time since she had visited a mall. She seemed a bit uneasy and couldn’t help but lean closer to Zhang Wei.

Zhang Wei couldn’t help but pat her little head. ”Don’t be nervous. We’re here to spend money, not to steal anything.”

An Xiaoxi reflexively swatted his hand away. She rolled her eyes and was about to snap, but then she reconsidered. This Uncle had saved her yesterday and given her a place to stay, so she hesitated, wondering if it would be bad to be too fierce with him.

Zhang Wei found her conflicted expression quite amusing. He figured that with time, the girl would slowly open up and stop being so sensitive.

While talking, they arrived at the B2 level. Zhang Wei’s first priority was to get his hands on the Scratch-offs.

The Sports Lottery Station on the B2 level was a simple stall enclosed in the middle of the hallway. At that moment, five or six people were gathered around the stall, scratching tickets with coins.

As Zhang Wei and the girl approached, they saw that they were all young people in their twenties.

”Aren’t lotteries usually played by older Uncles?” Zhang Wei was somewhat surprised.

When he was working before, he had an old colleague in his forties who played the lottery. He would fixate on a set of numbers and buy them every single time. This continued until one day, the Province F Space Floating Incident broke out, after which he never saw him buy them again.

However, the Scratch-off model, where you could win on the spot, was actually very popular.

Zhang Wei went to the counter and found the stack of Scratch-offs according to his information. A stack contained twenty tickets, each costing fifty yuan.

After confirming that the 100,000-yuan winning Scratch-off’s number from his intel was indeed in the middle of this stack, he didn’t waste any words and paid 1,000 yuan to buy the entire stack.

The clerk wasn’t surprised; it wasn’t uncommon for people to buy a whole stack like this. They encountered a few every day.

Next, they went to a home textile store upstairs to pick out bedsheets and bedding.

Zhang Wei wanted to ask An Xiaoxi what style she liked. Although she claimed anything was fine, her eyes kept drifting toward a set of Disney Princess bedsheets nearby.

”No matter how superb her hacking skills are, she’s still just a kid.” Zhang Wei chuckled inwardly but didn’t expose her. He called over a salesperson and had two sets packed up for easy washing and changing.

Next was a clothing store. An Xiaoxi walked in, took a few looks, and then pulled Zhang Wei back out.

Zhang Wei was a bit confused. ”What’s wrong?”

An Xiaoxi whispered, ”The clothes here easily cost over a thousand apiece. It’s too expensive.”

Zhang Wei said dismissively, ”Don’t worry. To thank you for breakfast, I’ll pay for it.”

”I still shouldn’t waste your money like that,” An Xiaoxi insisted.

”Quite sensible, aren’t you?” Zhang Wei began to coax her. ”Look, we’re a team now, right?”

An Xiaoxi nodded.

”Since we’re a team, if you dress too shabbily, won’t it make me look bad too?”

An Xiaoxi hesitated for a moment and nodded.

”Exactly,” Zhang Wei said as if it were only natural. ”For the sake of the team’s image, this money must be spent.”

”Is that how it works?” An Xiaoxi was a bit confused by his logic.

Ignoring her doubts, Zhang Wei pushed her back into the clothing store and found a clerk. ”Pick out five outfits for her. Three sets of casual home wear and two for going out. Make them cute.”

Seeing a big customer, the sales clerk quickly smiled. ”No problem, sir. Little sister, please come with me.”

While An Xiaoxi was being led away to try on clothes, Zhang Wei happened to see a Sony store across from the clothing shop.

Zhang Wei walked over and spent over 3,000 yuan on a PS5 and some popular games. He already had a TV in his living room. He had wanted to play Black Monkey for a while but never had the time. Now that he was free, he certainly couldn’t miss it.

Carrying the PS5 back to the clothing store, he saw An Xiaoxi standing in front of a full-length mirror wearing a Lolita-style dress.

The girl’s tender face and fair skin, paired with the outfit and a large bow on her head, was explosively cute. She immediately drew the attention of many customers in the store. It was An Xiaoxi’s first time wearing such a fancy outfit, and being watched by everyone, her face was now flushed red with embarrassment.

”It suits you well. Very cute,” Zhang Wei praised her generously before turning to the clerk to settle the bill.

Zhang Wei paid over 10,000 yuan and carried all the clothes. His hands were getting full.

After leaving the mall, they tried to hail a taxi. Since it was lunchtime, it was hard to get a car. It took a while before a driver accepted the order.

Zhang Wei decided to go buy a car tomorrow. After all, it was truly inconvenient to carry so many bags without one.

After their quick shopping spree, the two returned home, not feeling particularly tired. Zhang Wei pointed to the Twelve Gold Saints on the table and arranged for An Xiaoxi to sell them online.

He opened a food delivery app. He planned to have hot pot tonight and chose Haidilao. He ordered a bunch of beef, mutton, meatballs, and vegetables.

Haidilao’s service was very thorough; you could even buy an electric heating pot directly. Zhang Wei didn’t have one at home, so he ordered one as well.

On her end, An Xiaoxi closed her laptop. ”These are twelve figurines. I checked; they’re the original version released by Bandai in Japan. A brand-new set is worth about 16,000 yuan. However, the set we have has no packaging and is missing some replacement parts, so it’s considered second-hand. The price drops significantly. Based on big data, it can be sold for around 6,000.”

Zhang Wei nodded. ”Then list them at that price.”

Zhang Wei trusted An Xiaoxi’s judgment.
